I think trump is an idiot, but I also think extending the lockdowns will have more devastating consequences long term than lifting them.
Sure, in your way there would die more and more people...... in long term ????

Oh dear, another Buddy of Donald.
The more people are tested the more cases you'll have. And that Thailand got only a marginal number of cases or deaths doesn't mean the virus avoided Thailand.
Just compare Thailand's testing number of 10.000 a week with 500.000 per week in EU countries!
Do your own mathematics.
Thailand's economy is build on tourism.
No tourists no income
So it's quite obvious to have a low or no number of cases hoping that the tourists will come back soon.
Marter your own brain.
And somebody who is still thinking Corona is comparable with a flu can't either think or read or got a lack of knowledge or common sense or even brain maybe.

I remember around 3 yrs ago Lufthansa made an offer to buy Thai. At that time Thai seemed to be like Holy Grail. National pride was stronger and more valuable.
Now I suppose in times of Corona no airline might be interested to buy a rotten Thai.

The tendency of some modern politically correct "historians" to criticize operations is only possible because of those operations. Speculating on the realities is just that, speculating.
Germany started the practice of deliberately terror bombing non combatant civilian targets as a tactic in WW1. They continued in in the Spanish Civil War when supporting the fascist Franco. They terror bombed Warsaw and Rotterdam, a deliberate tactic to smash the will of the people. The tried the same with the London Blitz and bombing British cities. In such circumstances, and in such times, it's not really surprising that similar tactics would be used against them given the opportunity, is it?
I don't agree but it's absolutely nonsense to go into details. And if you go back in history you find examples for good and bad, eg India or Kenya or Iraq. War crimes everywhere. And shameful that GIs can't be prosecuted. Are they the good?
Important is to know about history and work together that it will never happen again. Unfortunately UK liked to take part in many idiotic wars after 1945 and just leaving a peace guarantee in Europe called EU. EU is not perfect and has to undergo some changes as times are changing.
However it is a wall against totalitarism, dictatorship and nationalism as well as fascism.

In the British documentary "The World at War", they quote a Getman woman from Berlin saying: A Ivan on your tommy is better than a Tommy over your head.
And you think this remark is worth to publish? Pathetic!

It's not fashionable nowadays to recall the work of Bomber Command during those terrible years but the aircrew sacrifice was more than that in the Somme offence in WW1 with around 50% aircrew killed, but they kept up pressure on the Nazi Regime when there was no other way. He was a Lancaster Flight Engineer with 103 Squadron in 1943/44 and a true hero in my eyes. I will choose to remember him today and all those like him.
I hope he was not involved in the massaker of bombing thousands of civilians in Dresden.
A shame to be proud of.
It was maybe a necessary Job, but dirty and inhuman.
That's the reason hardly none of the veterans is talking about those times.
They know about the Horror, Angst, cruelty, inhumanity. !

. As of May 4, around 230,000 people have been tested for Covid-19, a ratio of 3,421
It's a Rediculous low number of tests comparing to some EU countries (up to 500.000 a week)
It's quite obvious that you wouldn't find infected people if you not test them.
Thailand is far away to be called "safe".????

PM threatens return of restrictions
It has now become so often, that it is just ridiculous. Do this. Don't do that......
Highly expected already, by thais and foreigners. That's why stores was filled with people. We all know what will come next, more control, more ban, more restrictions .... coming soon!
Why not?
What is wrong with no alcohol sales in Thailand?
What is wrong with controling the traffic? And law enforcement?
What is wrong with restrictions for waste disposals and environment protection?
So what? ????

If they didn't ban alcohol for so long this rush to buy alcohol would not have happened.
Can they not see this?
It made some sense over Songkran but every action has a reaction and every 'over action' has an overreaction, in this case crowded wholesale stores is the reaction to cutting off the supply of small traders who sell alcohol for a living.
If they do it again then it will happen again, guaranteed.
You're right. They should not lift the Ban! ????

Top of the league in Europe, CL and EL champions too.
The UK's figures include suspected cases where as Italy does not include suspected cases. It would be helpful if all countries used the same method of recording the deaths.
That's true but anyway the figures show what kind of rotten health system and egomaniac government we have.

Has he got any idea how malls would control a maximum number of people entering, when they've probsbly got a number of entrances? Also how would they control the 2 hour time limit? Solutions will be most interesting, I'm sure!
Easy as that. Aldi installed a traffic light system. Counting electronically people in the shop. If it comes to the limit the traffic light outside shows red! And the entrance is closed.
So what?

Idiotic American presidential election system. Electing a national leader state by state is totally illogical, especially given the electoral college aspect. Name me another major nation that elects its leader this way instead of simply counting the total nationwide votes, which is the ONLY fair way to do it. Look to France for how to do it: a first round with multiple candidates, then a second round two weeks later with a run-off between the top two, both rounds counted nationally.
That described way is fair? 5555

The numbers looked increasingly optimistic whether you believe them or not.
Well, I said it yesterday already:
Thailand's testing number is about 10k a week whereas EU countries are testing up to 500k a week.
It's quite obvious that the number of cases is increasing the more you are testing.
So the real number of cases will be much higher but if you get in mind the Chinese to come back it"s much better to keep the number of corona cases low. Business and money is everything....unfortunately.????
-
I doubt it.
If you test only 10.000 (what was published) people a week you will find only a few with corona virus.
Some EU countries test up to 300.000-500.000 people, so they find a lot cases more.
Thailand got low numbers because they expect Chinese coming back.
Hopefully not.
