My Sonic Boom Alarm Clock has decided to play up after many years of use. I would normally just go on Lazada and order another one but it's getting a bit close to the time I actually need it and a loud alarm is what I need if I'm going to get up early to get a flight.
So my question is what's the best place in Pattaya to buy a loud alarm clock. If it's not a Sonic Boom I need to listen to it without my using my hearing aids. Lazada 's delivery dates are cutting it a bit fine. I will probably go to Pattaya Night Bazaar (M-I -T) tomorrow afternoon but are there better places to look.
Thank you.

Thank you all. I will not book and will just go to the nearest lounge when I know the gate for the plane. Years ago when I traveled regularly I never bothered book but I was much younger then and walking was no problem. I must admit I never encountered a crowded lounge in those days, just turn up and pay, but if memory serves me right it was just for 2 hours then and most UK flight went at night.
Anyway thanks again.

I am flying back to the UK next month. I am planning to use a Miracle Lounge. First time in 11 years. So I have a couple of questions.
What would normally be the concourse for Thai to fly out of? I am trying to cut down the walking by booking a lounge near to where the plane normally departs from.
Second question, what taxi firm would you recommend? When I return I'll get the bus back to Pattaya but going I want a taxi.
I look forward to all your replies. Thank you.

Slight change of subject. Can somebody tell me the procedure for re-entry permit , like how long it takes between handing in the paperwork and getting it back. It's so many years since I left Thailand I can't remember.
-
I will be going back on Thursday at about 15.15 I have never been to Immigration in the morning (apart from when my wife had to do my TM30).
Mind you I can't understand why I need a Re-entry permit anyway. I have a valid visa so I just think it's just another way to make money, and don't get me started on 90 day. After 18 years and 72 forms at the same address it just seems a waste of paper.

I need to get a re-entry permit from Immigration. So this afternoon I went there. I always go late afternoon as I find the queues by then have disapeared even on busy days. I arrived at 1540 (plenty of time i thought as I was only going to hand in my paperwork).
On arrival I went to the information area on the left, it was shut. I said to the guy by the copy machine it should be open to 1630. He said no it shuts at 1600,.I said to him it's only 1540 I got the normal shrug of the shoulders and "come back tomorrow". Checking the website it still states 1630.
The re-entry permit has to be done in person. As it happens I live on Thepprasit and go to Jomtien most days but for somebody living further away it would be bloody annoying. I wasn't all that happy either.
It's typical of the Thai Civil Service ,they make up there own rules when to shut when it suites them total ignoring their customers.

The idea was to find out what he is running now, in order to understand if he actually needed a new PC and if he did, what would constitute a meaningful upgrade. But he just disappeared.
Not disappeared just got distracted by more important things. I will be seeing my brother in law next month (after many years) who understands computers (builds his own) and will get him to explain (simply) what I need and what I should do.
I would like to thank everybody who replied to my post, it's what Asean Now is for.

Travelling around Thailand with my 70 year old mother all those years ago was a real problem.

... of course, I get your point... too many times I've foundmyself wonder around looking for a 'clean loo'...
There have been bathrooms I dare not enter without enclosed footwear !!..
I used say - the moment we cross the boarder into Malaysia, the mount of water on the floor and everywhere else tripples... Thailand toilets were bad in the south, in Malaysia they were awful (20 + years ago that is)...
Its the same in Indonesia (in any toilet used by the public ) - there is always water all over the floor, even in the higher end Malls.
Its the same at Suvarnabumi airport... People manage to pis$ all over the floor.
The toilet habits of the majority of the worlds population leaves a lot of be desired of a so called civilisation.

He's lucky the shards didn't cut his femoral artery (though thats more to the front).
Razor sharp stuff.... (splintered porcelain )... As other have pointed out, I wonder if he was 'sat squat' (as the above picture depicts)... or if the toilet itself was simply very wobbly.
I've sat on a few 'unstable loos' in my time here - one of them last week was quite wonky, had a loose seat and a wet floor... one to be avoided, but when needs must.... It lead to a balancing act that turned a simple experience a somewhat perilous endeavour, though I there was greater concern for my clothing than a collapsing bowl.
Over the years toilets in Thailand, specially Bangkok have significantly improved, not quite at the level of the 'Japan experience' nevertheless, getting 'caught out while out' is not longer the concern it once was when looking a clean 'Western toilet' that doesn't have water all over the floor or pish all over the seat...
In Turkey recently - both my Son and I refused 3 bathrooms due to being filthy before finding a hotel and 'having a coffee'... and of course using the facilities - I'm glad that for the most part Thailand has evolved beyond that towards the more civilised part of the 'bathroom spectrum'...
40 years ago I knew every farang toilet on Beach Road. Got caught out too many times before that.

I am getting fed up with my computer. I bought it from Liberty (who don't seem to exist now). I have always used them, from my first Desktop many years ago, up to the present one. As I don't play games I always let Liberty advise me what I wanted (nothing too complicated). A couple of times over the years when I had a problem I would drop it into them and they would sort it out. But now I want some advice on what to buy. As I said I don't play games so I don't need massive power just something that runs smoothly.
Can someone describe a system that would meet my simple requirements at a reasonable price?

I bought one a few months ago and I am quite happy with it, apart from the suspension. I still use my Klick for longer distances but not when it's busy. I find threading through traffic has become more difficult as I get older. So for most trips in Pattaya, it's 3 Wheels.
But as I stated at the start the suspension is not very good (understatement). Has anybody come across an electric 3-wheeled scooter that has good suspension? All the ones I've seen look like mine so probably have the same suspension.
I have been looking in the 20 to 25,000 Baht bracket. I'm 77 now and next year my license runs out. I'm not sure I'll pass but of course, my electric 3-wheeler doesn't need a license otherwise I would be contemplating a 3-wheeled motorbike.
I look forward to any reply.

I don't normally watch YouTube and didn't know I could post a question there. I just thought that being set in Pattaya I would get an answer on the Pattaya forum.

I returned to the video and still can't work out where it is. I can't see the link to Google Maps. Maybe I'm just stupid.
By the way, R4K in a circle is the symbol they use instead of the full name.

I was hoping that R4K would reply to this as the location information in the video is useless.

R4K's had a video of the Biggest Wholesale Shop in Pattaya, I tried to find out where it was but haven't had any luck. Anybody know?

When I moved here years ago I bought a Risk set with me hoping to find board game players here as I used to play many board games (and cards) with a group of friends at home. It wasn't to be. There was Bridge but I never got into that. So my Risk set has sat in the wardrobe all these years.
Until today, looking for something else I came across it.
It's in perfect condition with nothing missing. I don't want to sell it but I want to give it to someone in Pattaya who will play and appreciate it.
As I said I don't want any money I just want it to go to a good home.
So if any board players in Pattaya who would like it don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

A month ago my TCL tv stopped working. I got onto Numchai as I had taken out an extended warrenty. 1 month they said as it had to go away. So after 1 month I went back to their service department and they said Monday between 9 and 12. At nearly 2pm they arrived. My TV was a 50" TCL what they bought was a 58" TCL. Apparently they couldn't repair my TV so they gave me a bigger TV instead. What a surprise.

I am flying out in October so this is a bit early. Over the last few weeks, my ability to walk a long way has disappeared. So I might need a wheelchair to get me to the gate. I am flying Thai. Normally I would pay for a Lounge to spend a couple of hours and then walk to the gate, but this might be beyond me (it's a long time since I've flown ) Any suggestions about a wheelchair and lounge?

They are supposed to have Yellow Plates on the bikes denoting that they are for hire, how many white plated bikes (illegal) have you seen lately. The Yellow Plate mean that there is some sort of Insurance as well. I have also (in 20 years of driving here) never seen so many people jumping the lights at traffic lights or not wearing their helmets.
The Thai police were ever that efficient years ago and they have gone downhill since then.
