He may have gotten it done at a lab.

Since results are in normal range (though at very upper end of normal for the SGPT/ALT) hardly any reason to see a dietician or spercialist.

If he is overweight, addressing that (diet, exercise) would be wise in any case.

@roger101 did you by any chance take an antihistamine or other medication in the 24-48 hours before the blood test? As this will cause mild transient elevations.

I assume the reference range shown in your lab report must have had a lower cutoff than 56 for the SGPT? In Thailand they often use lower than internationally normal cut offs for liver enzymes. Usual normal range for this enzyme is 7 - 56.  At most you have only a very, very slight elevation which could easily be explained by being overweight or by medication.

Thank you Sheryl. That is reassuring. I had the blood test done at Life Care and took my results to BPH to my heart specialist who sent me to the Liver Center. I have noticed before that some of the ranges quoted in the report differed from what I read on the internet.

  2. Thank you for your helpful suggestions. I don't need comments like this. I know it could be serious.  I am already giving up alcohol. I used to drink roughly the same amount every day and have done for years. My last blood test (the same over the years) showed normal levels of SGOT and SGPT (4 months ago).  I have a blood test every 4 months and over the years it has given me nothing to worry about. This time it showed a level of SGPT that wasn't there 4  months ago. So i'm just asking for more information.

However, the Supreme Court in Thailand has, on another case, sais that if someone commit a crime or have a conviction from outside of Thailand, that is not matter by Thai law or in Thailand.

Just look at that dirty Thai minuter who got sentenced to prison in Australia for drug smuggling.

You beat me to it. After reading the previous posts I went into the kitchen to do the washing up and think about what I was going to say, When I sat back down I saw your post. I would just like to say that I think that it's a wonderful example of Thai Logic.

About 5 years ago, there was an 'assembly plant' for these on the hard shoulder of the railroad bypass road, on the northbound side, just south of the SCC intersection.

I'll take a ride up there tomorrow and have a look.

  5. I've asked this before but a long time ago. I want to turn my bike into a Salaeng (I think that's what it's called) like a food cart but with seats. You see them all the time at Bal Hi Pier. Does anybody have any idea where I can buy one? I already have a motorbike so I need the attachment. I know it will slow me down thru traffic but it's a lot more stable than 2 wheels and at 76 I'm not as stable as I used to be. I have just purchased a 3-wheel electric scooter for short distances but I need something for travelling from one end of Pattaya to the other.

The businesses that used to sell them on Sukhumvit don't seem to exist any more.

  6. Does anybody know where to buy these? I found what I wanted on Lazada but was sent the wrong item. When I went back to Lazada every site I looked on at the right price was sold out. It will only be used to carry a battery to my condo as I can't plug my 3-wheeled scooter in the car park, Suggestions please.

I just tried Lazada and input "wide brim hat men" and all sorts of weird and wonderful hats came up.

    How about this one? 😅

I didn't think of putting wide brim into search just golf hats. I found what I wanted in women's wide-brim hats. I have a small head 6 7/8ths in old money and none of the men's sizes were small enough.

That is the Pattaya Beer Garden. It's on Google Maps. Tucked away down a walkway where Beach Road ends with beer bars that used to be boxing rings one side, beach the other. It is huge but I find the ambience good. Excellent food at a fair but not cheap price every time I've been. I think it is expected that you order some food. Has wine by the glass as well as in bottle. Good table service. Huge long bar singles can sit at in the centre. Most tables on the waterfront have great views right along the bay. Lighting is low at these after dark so they bring a little lamp to see menu and your food. Open fronted kitchen so you watch the chefs at work. Toilets somewhat basic.  Music videos are constant, mostly rock, on video screens & sound system in the central  area but you can have a conversation without shouting. Sorry I think I just wrote a review!

Years ago it was a Thai restaurant.. Good food excellent prices. We used to eat there a couple of times a week. The same lady still owns the whole complex but I think nowadays she just leases the businesses out.
