You don't seem to be the brightest candle, kill the street dogs and possibly all the snakes too, is the opposite; the rats are multiplying uncontrollably....do you understand this.....I think not really:cheesy:

I can remember a TV programme on British TV years ago. They showed a village in Thailand that was catching snakes and selling them. The only problem was that the snakes kept the rat population down. They were being overrun by rats.

  2. Sorry, feeling a bit thick, I understand printing a 12-month statement at home and taking it to the bank. They then give you 2 letters to take to immigration, What two letters? One is obviously a balance on that day what's the other one, and what happens to the 12-month statement do you still take that to Immigration?

And does it work at Jomtein Immigration? Every time I go there there is always something I'm short of.

    Thanks

  3. I made a mistake when I opened my BB account. Instead of Thepprasit Road (I mile), I went to Central Festival on the theory that the staff would be much more fluent in English there. They weren't but that's water under the bridge

.My main question is does anybody else have experience banking there?  I need to do my yearly extension (retirement) and wondered if anybody knew the best time to go or is it busy all the time.

I know Central opens at 11 but last year at 11 the bank was already busy.

Last thing do you know what time you can access the parking so at least have a chance to get to the bank before anybody else?

What is annoying I know exactly what times the local branch is not busy but you have to do the letter and yearly statement at your home branch.

A flip flop of the highest order. The likes of which the world has never seen before. In fact, I don't even know this flip flop very well. It might be a terrific flip flop for all I know. But many people have said to me that it is a very bad flip flop. The best people say that. Most people didn't even know these things. And I have the absolute right to say this. Let's make flip flops great again!

Let us not forget that Thailand has a long history of flip-flops.

    1782 to 1939 Siam.

    1939 to 1945 Thailand

    1945 to 1949 Siam

    1949 to today Thailand.

  5. I went to Immigration yesterday (twice). I noticed that most people are taking no notice of the one-way systems on Soi 5 and 7. Have the powers that be decided that they weren't working or is it that they just can't be bothered?

  6. I would just like to say thank you to Victor Laszio. Armed with the relevant paperwork I dropped it off and picked up my passport later in the afternoon.

I'm so used to thinking what it was like before. go to the desk and wait  1 minute while he prints out the new 90 form. No paperwork no copies of passport.

But in all the years I've lived here immigration has never made it easier, and when they did they changed it.

As a side, I've never seen Immigration so empty. May 1 must be a good day to go.

    I would assume so.

That's what I thought. I have never been asked for 12 hours before, normally 8 hours. Go to bed at midnight get up and go and have a blood test, simple. But no liquid for 12 hours feels wrong.

  8. When I was searching before I couldn't find it on the net. I didn't check Villa because I shop there occasionally and never saw it. Thank you for reminding me. but at 705 Baht I'm going to give it a miss.

PS Sirineou. Villa's picture doesn't do it justice.

  9. Does anybody know if this is available anywhere in Pattaya? I've tried searching but all I can find is Savoy cabbage seeds. As I live in a condo that is not a possibility.

The cabbages I find here are a pale imitation of what is reckoned to be "the king of cabbages".

Check out Better World Books online.

    Quality used books.

I looked and when I saw the prices I thought "not for me'".

I went back to Dasa Books today and it was working fine. I don't know what the problem was yesterday. Anyway, I've placed an order for 7 books, which will all over a period of time end up at Canterbury Tales.

  11. Years ago there were a few 2nd hand bookshops from one where terminal 21 is now to  2 bookshops in Jomtien and then the best one above Tops on Klang and 2nd Road.

Over the years they all seem to have gone. Jeremy's was taken over by Dave of Canterbury Tales but even that has moved. I still shop at Canterbury Tales but I find it harder to find the books I'm looking for.

I tend to find a novelist that I like then read the complete series (if I can find all the books).

So, are there any bookshops that I've missed?

I even tried Dasa in Bangkok (sent by post) but for some reason, I'm having trouble with the website. So although they have books that I want I can't seem to order them.

And there is nothing like browsing through a bookshop in the hope of finding a gem.

I go to a 3 star hotel/condo and pay 800 baht/month. It's got weight machines, free weights, treadmills, cycle machines and even a sauna and steam room and of course showers. The machines and weights are not the top of the line but they do what I need them to do. There is usually nobody in the gym, sometimes a cleaning lady, once in a blue moon a tourist.  The regulars usually come at night.....

The price for what seems excellent facilities looks very good. Years ago I took advantage of Tony's lifetime membership (it worked out at 200 pounds, best investment I ever made). I know people will say his facilities weren't very good but for me they worked fine and having a swimming pool and Sauna was a bonus. Exercise first, then a swim and a sauna and finally on a sun bed for a spell of sunbathing before going home. 3 or 4 times a week for years.

So, what is the name of the condo? I'll even give up the street view and TV for a swimming pool and sauna after exercise.

It's a big item to put into a condo......and getting out more might be appealing.

Why can't people simply answer the question asked instead of going off at a tangent.

Thank you Jacko. I often think this myself. A walking machine because it has something I can hold onto when my balance feels wrong and a view because I'm deaf and need subtitles which means a phone is a bit small for that. So a streetview even if not much is happening.

  14. I asked this question before some time ago but when I searched for it nothing came up. I am having mobility problems. All I want is a gym with a walking machine so I can walk on a flat surface (albeit slowly). I don't need aircon but I would like the machine to either have a TV nearby or even facing the road so I can watch something, rather than a wall.

Having such basic needs I would like it to be as cheap as possible. I look forward to your helpful replies.

I would skip the appointment unless there are other symptoms (such as jaundice).  Your prior reading was barely above the normal range and readings since are completely normal.

An isolated reading at or slightly past upper end of normal range is really nothing to worry about.

Simply taking an antihistamine (or many other meds) can account for this.

Thanks Sheryl, I was hoping you would say that. I just wanted confirmation from somebody who is a lot better informed than I am.

  16. Since that test, I have had 2 more AST and ALT tests. Both show absolutely normal readings (14 and 23 and then 18 and 23). I am thinking of cancelling my appointment at the Liver Centre.

They only sent me there because my ALT was 56. Blood tests and a Fibroscan are involved (don't ask me what that is). Any views on what I should do?

I don't want to waste money on unnecessary tests if they are not needed.

you have been given a phone number and name....call and ask instead of asking on here !!!!

Some people ask on here for a reason. I'm deaf so asking on a phone is out of the question. Don't be so quick to criticize.

  18. Is it possible to buy Tebonin 120mg over the counter in Thailand? If so where? I am in Pattaya.

I have a week's supply left (1 a day) and my next appointment is not for 3 weeks.  I have looked on the internet but I don't hold much hope.

    Thank you
