  1. So you have a 21 year old in charge of an armoury and not sure if he had a pistol the way he put his hand by his right side and seemed to take it away when he seen the guy , guess he recognised him so thought nothing wrong .

But to have that level of security at an army base for the armoury shows how dumb people here really are !! That is completely bonkers !! ????????

R.i.p to the young guy . Killed needlessly by a coward !

Did some hummus give you a tummy ache? So your bad experience with "a few" means that ALL of "them" are bad. That sounds fair.

Out of about 20 I met one that was ok but still as shady as hell . So yeah they aren’t my cup of tea for hanging out with and oddly enough I have never found this with any other people I meet here .

There is a pack of them on Koh Samui. I am sure they are up to no good.

Agree . Chaweng has an area full of their restaurants and then there was the guy running some clinic in bophut who had guns , the long term guy who was dealing heroin and other drugs and the guys running around shooting each other on the main road . Having dealt with a few I avoid them like the plague.

I 100% agree. I was in Hawaii at New Year on Maui and I didn't think it was that expensive.

But the quality of beaches and environment was just amazing. Food was good, people were friendly and overall it is a really relaxing place.

Anyone coming to Thailand for beaches and nature is in for a severe disappointment...in fact just coming to Thailand, most people are in for a disappointment...and they will only come once.

Beaches here are highly overrated. I went to Cuba a few times about 10 year ago and was in Vietnam recently and the beaches in Cuba blow just about anywhere out of the water if you pardon the pun . Vietnam was like here probably was long ago , pristine beaches and clear water .

It is also not uncommon for Thais doing their military service to be working at the personal business of their commanding officer (say a gas station for example) instead of actually doing their military service, all this paid by the tax payer.

My nephew gets sent out every so often to work at his bosses mothers house . He keeps the outside area tidy , cuts the grass , cleans the cars and drives the mother to where she needs to go. They are minted and last guy they had doing similar they bought him a brand new Honda CR-V as a thank you and his career moved upwards quickly. I told the nephew I want a bmw when he’s minted ????

    Thanks for your facts.

The Ring Road around the island is just around 50 kilometers long – I think it's hardly 52 if measured correctly – the distance from the present runway at USM "Big Buddha Airport" to the land in question for a new 2nd airport's runway at south is just under 16 kilometer measured in a straight line on Google Map...

I"m told that under international airline regulations you are not allowed to have airports within 50km of each other ...So building another airport on Samui is a non-starter.

It also seems nonsensical to cram more people on the island just to meet the demands of those who have taken part in the untramelled overdevelopment of this blighted iisland.

Last I heard was it was 30km distance and if you draw a line from the one that’s there to anywhere 30km I think the island isn’t big enough as it’s only 68km or something all the way round the ring road.

  8. Had a Pajero for last 6 years and only thing I needed change was the battery once and the tyres once. Looked at the old ford but didn’t like cheap interior and new one looks good but weighs a tonne and has issues from various posts I have seen over last few months.

I like the fortuner looks but it drives like a bouncy tank and I hate back seat configuration but holds its value and pretty trouble free.

New pajero I hate front grill area and wheel arch design , looks like was drawn by Elon musk before his new suv design .

Get a second hand Audi Q5 or bmw in mint condition in bkk for same price as new fortuner etc .

  9. For the geckos I have which seem only to hang out in my toilet I got a spray that has lemongrass and similar in it from lazada. Seems to keep them away for few days then spray again.

I have spent 8 months battling a tookey in my room . It would hide in the coving  near the air con where the installers cut a section out. This thing was huge and rapid. It took to crapping on my bed daily where my head would be when I was not in the room. Tried everything to catch it and the humane traps I had were to big to sit on the air con to catch it when it came out.

Eventually I got a sticky pad for mice etc from lazada, was about a metre long . First day of it in place the tookey crapped on it but escaped somehow. Fourth day success as it got stuck and the fun began . Got an oven glove and removed it from the pad then took it outside and on the wall it seemed ok but when on grass it was stuck. So picked it up and rubbed cooking oil on its feet and belly where it was sticky , then left it on area I had soaked  with water . 20 mins later it had took off . Hopefully not to return !
