Well, that wasn't expected at all....
Given that chances are high I will arrive in Thailand this weekend, what was the last lock down like? I remember there was a curfew, no nightlife, and random foreigners were busted throwing private parties - but were there more restrictions or could you at least go get food and supplies during the day?
We'll be in quarantine until mid-January anyway, but wondering what happens after...
Good luck sure you will be able to get food. If you travelling to Thailand for family reasons understandable otherwise don't bother wait until 2022

Has the viras mutated same as discovered in UK to be more infectious?
-
It makes no sensense buying a condo which you never really own nor are you guaranteed visa to stay in the country. It is far better to rent and leave the landlord with responsibility for its maintenance costs. You can then leave whenever you want without any substantial financial loss

In order to prevent the arrival of a more virulent strain of the virus, the Thai authorities should also follow the example of the countries of the European Union and prohibit the access of the kingdom to the English citizen
Thai borders have been closed since last April there are no direct passenger flights from UK to Thailand since then except a few repatriation flights of Thai Nationals operated by Thai Airways on behalf Thai Government. Till this day the situation remains the same. Covid however knows no borders and will appear until vaccination programme implemented even with borders closed
-
Only way out of this pandemic will be the vaccine so let's hope it is approved soon and then purchase suffient to vaccinate Thai population at whatever cost as covid has never disappeared in Thailand
-
Hope this is not the start of predicted second wave. UK scientists reported to WHO that the viras has mutated to be much more infectious.

And that represents major discounting. Prior to covid it was 4,000 to 5,000 each way! They cannot fill the planes now, so a minor degree of humility and common sense has set in. The BA monopoly is a scourge on the land.
Don't forget BA built the Airport in Koh Samui. They are providing a good reliable service without profit. The coming problem with Koh Samui is the pollution caused by to many cars and to many tourists now is the time to restructure and tax the fat cats who have the lions share of money generated by tourism they have big houses and host hugh wedding parties

Afraid without Government help Koh Samui will have to rely upon Chinese Investment who will Cherry Pick properties and purchase the best at knock down prices. This is rhe aim of Chinese Government to gradually take control. Don't expect any significant foreign tourism next year this is just not possible.

Don't expect any significant increase in tourist arrival until quarantine not required 30 day is exemption of visa requirement previously extendable by another 30 days Anyway just not the time to holiday in Thailand wait until 2022.

Why not make booze ban permanent it will definitely help towards a reduction in road deaths. Will of course be final coffin for tourism industry what is left of it. Close borders permanently also which will save money for covid vaccination programme as no longer required if it is true Thailand Covid free

Let's hope it will be a manned space craft. No prizes who should be the first astranount.

Some official clarity at last. Since previous announcement first vaccination programme will start between June and December 2021 earliest reopening for Tourism will be second half of 2022 provided vaccination programme enlarged and expedited
-
Better to be safe than sorry. Concentrate on vaccination before it is too late. Many countries now suffering a second wave far worse than the first so far Thailand has been lucky with few reported cases but the viras is still very much alive and kicking

Loosing business or loosing lives, which should it be?
Absolutely no more long weekends save lives. Hope Thailand will not suffer second more deadly surge of Covid Infections. Stay safe keep your distance stay at home
-
TAT is only interested in estimating how much is spent by local tourism during long weekend holidays. They make no mention how much is lost by businesses whilst their staff are having so many long weekend holidays probably much more is lost by the economy.

sure. The months between November and April are considered peak season in Phuket. Temperatures hover in the lower 80s and the oceans are relatively calm, (especially when compared to the strong currents characteristic of monsoon season). Still, peak season also ushers in peak accommodation rates.

November is low season Peak and High seasons beginning mid December. If you are lucky to be in Phuket during November you will be able to obtain accomodation at very reduced rates. The main reason is just before Christmas and New Year holidays when many people like to holiday also school holiday period in Europe. Thailand is tropical so 80 F not not unusual all year

There will always be eopleccrossing the border it is a matter of earning money to buy food or die. Instead of all this pointless nonsense would it not be better to accept money has to be spent to vaccinate entire population and get on with it as a matter of extreme urgency.
-
Just a distraction better to concentrate on rolling out covid vaccine of Thai population as it is unlikely international tourism will return before 2022

No one knows how Covid will affect Thailand now or in the future but one thing is certain Covid knows no borders. The only safe way out of the pandemic is to vaccinate a large proportion of the population starting with those most at risk. The quantity of vaccine so far ordered is woefully inadequate and should be increased together with a nation wide vaccination programme as quickly as possible

Realistically it is very unlikely any South Eastern Asian Countries including Thailand will be able to open for Tourism before beginning 2022 earliest

A lot of negative comments as usual.
Thailand will bounce back faster than most. I cant see many risking their families health to go to covid ravaged Europe or the USA.
Personally i know one retired couple that will come and stay in five star resorts for 3-4 months like they do every year.
I have 6-7 friends who will bring their families over, 4 star types. And 4 “single” mates, two of who usually come 3-5 times per year, 1200ish per night room types.
All can’t wait to get over here again.
If the vaccine is in Thailand by May as planned it will be back to business as usual by November high season.
Light at the end of the tunnel now.
Interesting are you sure November is high season may be you have wrong country as from my experience very low season

Good start but the entire population needs to be vaccinated so come on Thailand you can afford it dig deep into your pickets and get the Job done as a matter of urgency

Very stupid idea wait for the vaccine and accept no international tourism from China or anywhere else before second half 2021 earliest.
