There is a dentist just on the south side of Sompet market which I have been past a few times (in the last weeks) and it looks very much open.
I just looked it up on google
Called Anutin dental clinic.
This is the only telephone number I could find.

I thought they were telling people to not pay until 30 April because they were adjusting the bills downwards. Huge outcry over expensive bills so they are readjusting so you only pay partial amount of any extra units. There is a thread on it somewhere.

So people i hope you all looked at the video Yinn posted, taken after the fire had been brought under control.
It clearly shows how BIG the fire was, and yes it was an inferno, complete opposite to what Yinn claims.
Check out the video from 11.00 minutes onwards.
Like most "news people" he gets there after its finished ! Its huge and he doesn't get very close to it. Funny piece early on where he gets told to more a less "<deleted> off" because he's blocking the road.

A huge amount of posts have been removed as they are completely off topic! Any attempt to bait other members to go off topic again will be met with a warning.
This is a topic based on news about expats donating their time and resources , mostly in expat areas. Nobody is denying that Thais are doing the same, there are plenty of stories out there about Thais doing just the same.
This is the most serious economic situation I have seen in my 30+ years in Thailand. Anybody using it as a situation to win points over others as to who can give more etc. etc. will be dealt with as deserved.

A friend of mine went back on Eva Air from BKK to London about 2 weeks ago. Sorry not sure where flight originates, but apparently plane half full at the most. I think BKK is a transit pick up.

You need to tell her to get a job or another business to fund this durian business. Simple maths , if you think a future business is so worthwhile then you have a plan to fund the start up.
How much actual work does she do?
If the family are really wealthy then presumably she has a good education and can get a job to fund her little business.

I take a self isolation seriously. I also don't go back in the old neighborhood, live in another area of town. However you have piqued my interest.
Old News ---- Soi 1 ratchadamnoen, right behind the Montri Hotel (Hotel M now) If you walk that soi north, cross by Irish Pub, up to Somphet Market. There were more than a couple, old time packer places, barely hanging on, Three were GONE. That was second half of 2018. These are bp GH, because if you walk that way, you go by three new boutique hotels, built to tap into the Chinese Gold Rush. Unfortunately as part of the massive overbuild, oversupply they were basically vacant, but staying open.
BTW I used to stay at Hollanda Montri back in the day when Bik & Bong ran it (80's) . I assume Luc & Ahm were still running it until closed ... ?
Sad Days ...
I'll do a drive by of the Montri & places listed above, with camera & lens next week..
Around Moonmuang Soi 5 seems to be "investor central"
The big new "complex" - Spice Garden I think its called. The Rama gh was sold and is being "rebuilt". There was another guesthouse just up from the Rama , maybe called the Siri (can't remember) probably sold as remains just a shell, bits knocked down. A couple of other places look like Chinese investors or for that market. That whole soi has either mistimed their investment spectacularly or maybe knows something that we don't?

This morning on my desktop it took about 3hrs for the LAN connection to show as connected. It spent about 3hrs spinning "acquiring network address". The weird thing was that it didn't affect my internet connection. Normally when you switch on that thing has to connect before you can get an internet connection !

The authorities have recently come out to try to manage to the proliferation of food and goods donations stations, after reports of lack of social distancing. They have asked the public to instead donate goods to them and allow them to do the distribution. However, not everyone is comfortable with this edict, preferring to do the distribution themselves.
The new order is that no one may distribute food to more than 100 people per day. The lines have to also be socially distant and all people wear masks. Hand sanitisers must also be provided by those handing out the goods.
Authorities do admit, however, that they do not have enough personnel to cover all distribution points, so ask the public to please follow the COVID procedures.
I thought this article from Chiang Mai Citylife was quite interesting. Quote from article above (with my addition of some bits in bold - as I thought they were quite revealing)

Some off topic posts have been removed. Please don't use the topic to make personal remarks.
However some posters do make a valid point, it is probably better to make enquiries when things are more back to normal.
As this drags on the probability of many businesses not being around by next year is very high.

See my earlier post #21. It is basically monopolistic capitalism. The letter is merely a PR stunt and an excuse to "join together for the saving of the country".

Much easier to get a dozen officials with some masking tape and have them put lines on the ground.

This is basically the government mandate for "private sector" projects (which of course don't benefit just the private sector).
Projects that can ostensibly be rolled out "to help the people".
It is not exactly begging for donations, it is an attempt at face saving for both the top ones of the private sector and the govt. together. Next step is for the "chosen few" to "join hands" with the govt and "save the nation". Watch carefully for those not invited who (it is said) will have turned down the govt. request to help.
Those who say this is begging for donations and loss of face, really need to read between the lines.

Region 9 chief Pol Maj-Gen Chokechai Ngamwong said in a report that this was the sixth time that handouts were made at this location and all had gone well before as social distancing measures had been followed.
This sounds more like an excuse for the lack of social distancing. Looks like a police officer just below yellow car in photo. Sorry but my cynical mode is in total overdrive.

QuoteWorks in the process include establishing the SHA criteria, introducing the committee, preparing the application and selection process, and planning marketing and publicity for the SHA-certified tourism establishments and services.
And ... just how much will this cost the private sector? Is this seriously a ruse to squeeze even more out of a failing economy.
Pretty obvious something like this was in the offing when news of the new "tourism committee" broke.

Well it seems the police have a lot of spare time on their hands, so why don't they volunteer their services to keep the queues in order.

Story Of My Thai Citizenship Application

Can anyone comment on "the need to take a Thai name" when getting Thai ID. I was told that to get a Thai ID and house reg I need to take a Thai name (not surname). Seems absolutely ridiculous and could be a can of worms when it comes to paperwork and travel. Anyone have details?
