At these queues people are told about social distancing. If you see people in "clumps" they have normally come together. The problem now is the amount of people turning up, maybe an average queue time of 2hrs or so. At the start of these "handouts" not so many people but now more people becoming desperate. The big problem is how long the funding can go on, donations are from small businesses/people/business people of Chiang Mai. If this continues into next month can the donations keep coming?

If you look on Ventusky, tomorrow morning (13th) looks hopeful.

Either they stay at home or they move out. These are not exactly normal times. Failing that , the area they live in needs to be sealed off completely , not sharing living space, bathrooms, kitchen etc.

This is streetview of where road block is now (temple seems to now have built a wall on left side).
On a map it is here:
So ... it seems they have blocked off a road leading from the canal road, telling you to take another access road to the north past the school. For what reason , we do not know. The fact that the barricade is not at the entrance of that road (where it would cause less confusion and trouble) and also that it is signed as "the people of Thung Rang Raeng village" would seem to indicate it is not an official road block.

Not enough explanation to know what is going on . The barricade seems to have been set up by the locals . It tells people to "use the road past the school" instead. So basically if people can still get to their destinations by taking a detour, how does this barricade stop Covid?

You need to focus on the process rather than the end point.
Maybe delve into some philosophy - at the very least you could start to question , what is the point of thinking "what is the point".

Surely this doesn't apply to just Thailand. It's a case of most businesses in Thailand and the rest of the world are reeling from this crisis. Nothing about the situation at the moment is Thailand specific. Also comparing countries in the west 20-30-40 yrs ago to Thailand at present (or even those same countries), is a completely different ballgame.

I think they've stepped over the line if some is attacked they will be to blame.
I don't live in Phuket but where I am there's plenty of Thai's driving around on bikes.
They have also got 597,009 followers.
If you live in Phuket take care.I think you are right and they were quite careful in their use of language. Not outright instigation of violence but implied.
I must admit I thought the picture was a catapult and meatballs!

It seems to be a reaction against tourists riding around on motorcycles. It seems to be their impression that locals have to stick rigidly to the curfew even if it causes hardship. However there are tourists riding around seemingly still on holiday.
It doesn't exactly advocate violence in that it says if the authorities can't control it, then the locals will. So skirting along the verge of instigating violence.

Just the thought of "out of" becoming "outta", conjures up the presence of my late elocution teacher. I can see and hear her now ! She would not have been amused!

Quote“CP was forced to adapt to the situation by transporting the machine through various methods until we achieved success today,” the officials added.
What on earth is that supposed to mean?

She is indeed fortunate.
Yes, in Edinburgh there are ethnic Indians with a Scots brogue. In Thailand, there are ethnic Europeans with an Isarn accent.
Friend of ours moved up to Isle of Lewis about 10 yrs ago. Local shop in Stornoway run by Scottish speaking Indians !

Being over 17, there's not much I cab change now regarding her accent. IELTS is no problem. The worst thing is that she will have to pay fees of about 13,000 GBP a year as a foreign student, despite being a British citizen.
I know !

Met an amazing woman from Corsica a couple of months ago . What a character! True mafia material !
Sorry I digress !
I would worry more about the grammar than the accent. My daughter was always staunch anti Thailand and as such it seemed fairly certain would return to the UK. However upon graduation from university (graduated school ) , she realised salaries weren't as high as anticipated, then there was tax, then (horror of horrors ) they wanted you to intern , aka slave labour.
Hence she ended up in Singapore!

Indeed, and Eva are still offering flights one way flights to LHR on three days next week for a 22,665 Baht in Economy and 32,000 Baht in premium economy
People booked on those Eva flights are wondering if they are still happening considering incoming flights seem to have been stopped. Seeing as these flights are maybe some of the last it is leaving a lot of people on tenterhooks. Is there any reliable source available for people to check their status.

It's all very well to keep telling people to book commercial flights, but when the flights keep getting cancelled there is only so much you can do.
There seem to be announcements of no more incoming flights to Thailand which I suppose would mean no outgoing , so it doesn't seem feasible to book a commercial flight anymore.
Perhaps it would help to give some information regarding flights already booked and whether these will be happening after incoming flights have been stopped.

I think the Art Cafe at Tapae Gate has closed. They closed before the virus and saw stuff being taken out .
Also a small Italian restaurant inside Tapae Gate ( don't know name but been there many years).
