I have a question for those of you that have a gotten a Thai passport.  When you get your first Thai passport, how do they know where your place of birth is?  It is not shown on your ID card or House Registration.  I think I remember reading 100+ pages back that the passport office asked to see someone’s other national passport (many nationalities list place of birth on the passport).  What if you don’t bring your other nationality passport, or if your other nationality passport doesn’t list your birthplace?

I was asked whilst doing my house reg. where my place of birth was.

In all seriousness, there's a lot of talk in the media about buffet restaurants being banned. Sound logical to me but will Thailand be strict enough to close its buffets, including moo gatas, indefinitely?

That could be tricky in practice because just about every group Thai meal is a buffet!; in that (eg.) you order 10 dishes between 8 of you and all dig in.

  3. Through the nationality application process, it was never required. I now have Thai nationality )posted in Royal Gazette, just need to go to "kwaeng" of Tesabahn to do house reg. (first step) and they are the ones saying I need it. Next step is to main Tesabahn for ID card. This will be based on info in house reg. So if I give in to their new name demand at the kwaeng it will be going on ID card because they follow what is on house reg. Nightmare!

Actually thinking about it, my actual name has been posted in Royal Gazette. Surely that is the person/ "name" they must follow in house reg/ID otherwise Royal Gazette and Thai ID name would not match ! ie they would have given citizenship to "different person" !!!!

PS My "kwaeng " are ...... useless !

So people i hope you all looked at the video Yinn posted, taken after the fire had been brought under control.

It clearly shows how BIG the fire was, and yes it was an inferno, complete opposite to what Yinn claims.

Check out the video from 11.00 minutes onwards.

Like most "news people" he gets there after its finished !  Its huge and he doesn't get very close to it. Funny piece early on where he gets told to more a less "<deleted> off" because he's blocking the road.

I take a self isolation seriously. I also don't go back in the old neighborhood, live in another area of town. However you have piqued my interest.

Old News ---- Soi 1 ratchadamnoen, right behind the Montri Hotel (Hotel M now) If you walk that soi north, cross by Irish Pub, up to Somphet Market. There were more than a couple, old time packer places, barely hanging on, Three were GONE. That was second half of 2018. These are bp GH, because if you walk that way, you go by three new boutique hotels, built to tap into the Chinese Gold Rush. Unfortunately as part of the massive overbuild, oversupply they were basically vacant, but staying open.

BTW I used to stay at Hollanda Montri back in the day when Bik & Bong ran it (80's) . I assume Luc & Ahm were still running it until closed ... ?

    Sad Days ...

I'll do a drive by of the Montri & places listed above, with camera & lens next week..

Around Moonmuang Soi 5 seems to be "investor central"

The big new "complex" - Spice Garden I think its called. The Rama gh was sold and is being "rebuilt". There was another guesthouse just up from the Rama , maybe called the Siri (can't remember) probably sold as remains just a shell, bits knocked down. A couple of other places look like Chinese investors or for that market. That whole soi has either mistimed their investment spectacularly or maybe knows something that we don't?
