  1. Why are these two individuals, whining about being inconvenieced by a war, a featured story on the forum? There are many thousands more in similar or much worse situations because of it. It just seems to be another scam to get funds from others to help the lazy or incompetent. Their kids are with their other parent and obviously not suffering without these two.
  2. I've noted Simon's life adventures through this forum for a couple of decades. He has never shied away from sharing his, always interesting, successes and travails. He's related his volunteer work with tourism and after the tragic plane crash on Phuket. He's had difficulties getting permission to erect hobby radio towers in many locations, but I recall one in Phuket that assisted with ground radar at the airport. He built, and moved on from, several airport hotels and at times has (over) shared his marriage woes with the forum. Readers who pay attention know about his academic qualifications, surgeries and satellite builds. These days he's seems more into teaching and travel. He's one of the foundation members of Thai Visa, Possibly the last one from 2003 still posting. I regard him as one of the more interesting posters of all, and has the highest IQ here. Over the years I have teased him a little, but he never takes umbrage, or perhaps notice! I hope he finds the right place to settle into.
  3. Removing a complete page from a passport is a major red flag. There could be any reason to do so, all dodgy. Pages in a passport are generally doubled up. If one is gone the other half could also be missing or altered. I've seen passports that have had pages seemingly surgically removed, or with the stitching unpicked and expertly redone. Photo substitution used to be a thing in the days before photo holagrams and similar. I've seen passports that had been torn in half and flushed down the aircraft toilet so the holder could claim to be a stateless refugee.
  4. It's normal almost anywhere to hold someone, without permission to enter, in custody until their flight departs. Airports often have holding cells the public doesnt know about. The public have little concept about the numbers of and lengths to which some criminals will go, to gain entry to a country. Not everyone sitting on a plane is a harmless little tourist, even if they share your particular citizenship.
  5. A page removed from a PP invalidates it. Immigration did the correct thing in refusing entry. You need a valid document to enter almost any country. The airline must return him. For those who believe he didn't know, the dog ate it or a child tore it out is naive. The reason people remove pages from their travel document is to hide something such as an overstay or deportation. All lie about it. I dealt with a number of such cases in my former career.
  6. My visiting cops were from my local district town and had nothing to do with Immigration.
  7. I live in a remote rural area in Loei Province. 1/2 an hour ago five police turned up at my gate looking for the falang. They initially encircirled me in case I cut and run despite my age of 77 and the wheelchair. None spoke English which I would think would hamper their investigations. They visibly relaxed upon finding out I was not American nor planning to join the war. They took photos of me, my passport and the house before departing. Even knowing I was in full compliance with visas etc it was a disconcerting experience for me..
  8. Australian MPs are always willing to interject about graffiti complaints in foreign countries, and local authorities quickly fall in line if they know what's good for them. The Airbnb CEO is not alone in thiking you're special!
  9. I obviously haven't been following Simon's life journeys close enough of late. What happened to his plans to live in Mauritious and Cyprus?
  10. I'm also happy to see strong action being taken against the terrorist regime. They have long proven that neither their word, nor signed agreements, curb their sponsorship and arming of terror organisations. However, I am concerned that the war is being run by a bunch of inexperienced, egotistical clowns, most of whom can't even manage their own lives. Over the last year they've sacked most of the senior military leaders in the armed forces because of political, racist or gender reasons and believe themselves to be most equiped to run a war. The leader is what he is, his capabilities and acumen are well known to all but the acolytes. Even Fox the political arm of the GOp have him rock bottom in the polls. As it stands the party cant keep control of the congress nor probably the senate. Trump himself is on record as saying he may cancel the election! He claims it to be a joke, maybe my suggestion to rename the war is also?
  11. How about " Operation Emergency War Cancellation of Mid Terms"
  12. This is why I refuse to have anything to do with Thai health insurance. My prviate health insurance in Australia was expensive, but after reasonable qualifyng periods, it covered everything regardless of existing problems. Thai companies want to profit from all rather than accept a certain percentage of clients will cost them. I'd rather pay a higher premium knowing I'm covered and not get refused after the event on a technicality
  13. I don't think I missed the point. Your postering on behalf of Trumps threats/warnings to all other countries if they don't obey orders, is pathetic.
  14. Did Trump really threaten India and Pakistan?
  15. Rubbish!
  16. Should be more of it. I can think of one or two other similar countries.
  17. The Australia media is calling it a karate chop. In the video above the aggressor was rubbing the side of his hand when walking away. It wasn't a slap! It was appaently road rage. One or the other cut off the others bike.
  18. They also used to do this in Phuket. I omce had someones passport details page on a receipt. Another time i got a detailed list of names and salaries of staff at a well known restaurant.
  19. Sounds like the form the investigator completed during the home visit after my first extention for marriage. I had a very similar experience to yours a couple of years ago when I lost patience with the idiots processing my application. We had to head back to the bank for no reason and also get more pics done at a copy shop. I had a thumb drive full of them.. Fortunately, as I live 2 hours from the IO (one way), we could fix it on the day. I wrote about the experience on this forum.
  20. UBI was first mooted way before AI became the thing. It was not intended to replace work altogether, but be an alternative to all the social services so many access in lieu of work. It was to be given to all regardless of whether they worked to suppliment it or not. It was enough to live off for those who didn't want, or couldnt , work. Switzerland seriously considered introducing it some years ago and held a referendum on it. The citizens rejected it by a large margin. I dont know how it would work, or if Musk even had an alternative for the peasants when he recently said many jobs would disappear because of AI..
  21. Is this a new requirement for all applicants at all IOs or just part of the harrassment for the OP?
  22. Thanks for correcting my word usage while ignoring the blatant spelling error of the other poster, which incidentaly, proved my assessmentof him. However, I do think you could have used contextomy rather than quote mine to really stand out as a wordsmith.
  23. Hilarious! Perhaps next time you could actually ignore rather than comment?
  24. The travel warning is for Americans in Mexico who may encounter SECURITY operations directed at criminal cartels! It is internal Mexican policing and has nothing to do with the border nor the previous US government. As long as America provides the market, the drug producers will continue to chase the lucrative profits. Perhaps the current US regime should look for a cure in their own backyards. The states with the highest drug use are predominately RED!.
  25. Your misquote indicates your illiteracy level.
