    InDriver Dead

It's now called InDrive. They dropped the R from the name.
  2. If you read the link the barrier was down, and vehicles were stopped waiting for the train to pass. Apparently, she wasn't doing a "Tom Cruise" racing to fly across in front of a speeding locomotive, but just had a need to cross right then.
  3. Do you truly believe all people who overstay are gentle. altruistic souls who live in their adopted country as model citizens obeying all laws other than that of Immigration? Do they import all their living expenses from their sizable assets abroad thus enriching their host country? If so, why overstay? Do you automatically insinuate she is law abiding despite evidence she is not? Immigration wouldn't normally be working with Police from several different areas just to locate one overstayer. Are you aware this task force was involved in seeking members of a Russian gang who committed major crime against another expat?
  4. "Governor Narong told The Phuket Express, “We should have strict measurements especially for illegal drug suppression to prevent any similar incidents. If any government officers are involved with illegal drugs, they must face legal action. Firearms possession must be strictly checked too. For illegal drugs reporting please call the hotline at 1567.” Problem solved! They should invite him to the US to advise the locals on his insights.
  5. There may be more to this than just one overstayer. From the link: "The overstaying crackdown came after five foreign suspects have escaped from Thailand after they were allegedly involved in extorting a Russian man for crypto currency on Samui Island."
  6. If you don't think he would be capable, look at the way he is throwing his own citizens to their death in the war. He is hands on with battlefield decisions (bad ones) resulting in huge losses. Remember the Russian apartment bombings that killed over 300. It's generally accepted now that Putin, then the new PM, was behind them to justify invading Chechnya to steal their oil, and to cement his position as a strong man leader. The only way his generals would stop him would be if one was brave enough to use a bullet. Pick the psycho:
  7. Putin has just blown up his own Crimea Bridge as a false flag excuse to use nuclear weapons. Start ducking.
  8. Thailand has a huge drug problem (yaba) and there are many who inflict violence with little cause. (Have any noticed the massive recent headlines about mass murder?) This guy was closing his drug shop at 5am when he noticed an altercation involving a friend so he decided to smash the foreigner in the head with a hardened piece of wood. I tend to think it was more about hatred of outsiders than protecting a friend or the honor of a lady still in the street at that hour. From the link, for the apologists who say it's never happened in their 50 years in the country. Just a couple of examples. I could find scores of random violence incidents inflicted on foreigners with a little research. British tourist slashed to death in Kanchanaburi, friend badly wounded TV presenter wife of German footballer to return despite being mugged Man held for assaulting, robbing Russian woman
  9. I'm not sure how active shooter training would have helped all these toddlers sleeping in the nursery.
  10. Many years ago, I painted an old red brick house using very thick lamb's wool rollers which squeezed the paint into the cracks without any problems. Used a lot of paint but lasted for many years until I sold it. Just a thought.
  11. Why overstay for one day? Should be no repercussions for one day over, but better to stay legal. Your O-A extension. becomes void as soon as you depart, no need to run it out past its expiry. You haven't stated you have an associated return visa so the visa exemption of 45 days would apply even when returning before your old extension expiry date. The procedure you outlined appears correct. Several experts will be along in a minute to confirm.
  12. The program of attracting rich foreigners into the country seems to be working. Two days of imbibing the local nectar, Thai whiskey, would have injected several hundred baht into the local economy via a mum and pop store. The tourist mecca of Nakhon Si Thammarat would have welcomed this influx of USD locally. As an added bonus the RTP got to use their falang control poles in a real situation instead of just practicing on a volunteer on a Pattaya beach. (Now if they could just work out, they're not for leaning on)
  13. A 5 month old baby wouldn't be wandering anywhere and get lost. Had to have been dumped.
  14. There's a post on page 3 indicating he had Thai family. However, other posts state he was preparing to return to the UK to live with a daughter.
  15. This thread title seems to have been changed. They have dropped the reference to his football career in his youth. Makes a lot of the replies a little non-sensical.
  16. I don't understand why he is described as an ex professional footballer unless it is to garner more Go-Fund money from his soccer mad home country. Between his days dribbling and head butting a ball around a paddock in Shrewsbury and his retirement in Thailand, I'm sure he had a work career which would more likely define him. I'm a couple of years younger and have been paid to play football (AFL variety) in the 1960s and 70s, but under no circumstances would I ever be described by that. I had normal employment all my life. My mother (and stepfather) smoked like chimneys until it killed them. He from lung cancer in his late 60's and the mother from emphysema after her lungs filled up with black tar. She only stopped smoking because of the explosive danger a naked flame posed with the oxygen machine next to her bed. I believe one of the attractions S.E.Asia has for smokers is the availability of cheap cigarettes when taxes elsewhere made the habit very expensive. I've heard of quite a few people here, on this forum and elsewhere, who have died from throat cancer or similar. One of the hazards of retirement in paradise. I have nothing against crowd funding for those who have no other option. It's not compulsory to donate. After I moved to Thailand, and looked at alternatives, I made the decision to self-fund my medical needs. I have more than enough growing assets in my home country to cover any eventuality. People who deride this option need to think beyond their own limited circumstances.
  17. A tiny insect on the wall does this to you? A couple of weeks ago while sitting on a chair watching tv I found a 7-inch centipede climbing up my thigh about to head inside my shorts. That's scary. My FIL spent last night at our place sleeping on a mattress on the floor. In the early hours of this morning all were awoken by his shouts as he had a similar one crawling on his face. Transpired it had stung him on the calf. Have to listen to his moans and groans this morning.
  18. Dogs can bite but rarely kill. The real problem is much bigger! "135 people have been killed and 116 injured by wild elephants in the past six years, including 27 deaths in the first nine months of this year alone" Time to eradicate these pests?
  19. Case Moth cocoon. Many threads about them on the forum over the years. Harmless, just sweep them off the walls and toss outside. Eventually there will be no more.
  20. I hope my posts are helpful to the OP if they try to get a refund through the Embassy for an illegally levied fine. Unfortunately, it's probably a lost cause - Thailand.
  21. Despite childish derision, much of Britain's woes can be directly attributed to the withdrawal from the EU and the election of a fool as PM.
  22. The point you, and others, fail to understand, is that penalties under the Thailand Immigration Act cannot be levied against a Thai citizen! There appears to be comprehension issues also. I said: "Perhaps someone could show that legislation, not just relate what is generally practiced." The Act is legislation written about the entry and stay of "Aliens" into the country. This girl could not satisfactorily prove her Citizenship on arrival, and they took the easy way out by landing her on her alien passport. Lazy! However, on departure, she presented indisputable proof of her citizenship in the form of a newly issued Thai passport and therefore should/could not be fined under the penalty provisions of an Act that applies to "Aliens". [Section 4 : In this Act :“ Alien” means any person who is not of Thai nationality under the nationality Act.] [Section 81 : Any alien who stay in the Kingdom without permission or with permission expired or revoked shall be punished with imprisonment not exceeding two years or a fine not exceeding 20,000 Baht or both] I'm not disputing that individual officers don't misinterpret their own legislation; I'm stating what should have happened with more capable officers.
  23. Sorry. To those insisting you must use the same passport entering and leaving a country, I disagree. Perhaps someone could show that legislation, not just relate what is generally practiced. See my point about training and inflexibility. However, my main point which you missed, related to the fine. As she is a citizen it was incorrectly levied. "They could have been more flexible and sensible in waiving a fine, but Thailand. The computer system could have been updated to reflect her status as a Thai, and obviously fines could not be legally levied."
  24. On arrival the only valid passport held for travel was the British one. She was apparently landed on this despite showing her old, expired Thai ID and passport. Expired documents are not proof of current citizenship. It was reasonable, and easier, for the incoming IO to process entry with the only valid document. If she hadn't presented the British PP then entry may have been delayed while her claims were investigated. She then obtained a new, valid Thai passport confirming her dual citizenship. She later attempted to depart using the new passport, but inflexible and poorly trained staff would only accept her as the Brit citizen she was when landed, hence the fine. They could have been more flexible and sensible in waiving a fine, but Thailand. The computer system could have been updated to reflect her status as a Thai, and obviously fines could not be legally levied. Computers can be more flexible than those operating them,
