And what sort of right has the Dusit Puppet to demand these sorts of things? Oh, that's right: none. Let's face it he's an intellectual midget next to her (remind me what educational levels he reached) but he can out-thug her anytime of course. Why on earth should she sit in the same room as someone who has threatened to have her and her family eradicated?

Are you claiming Yingluck is an intellectual AND has high education levels? Seriously?

Feel free to tell the University of Kentucky that their Masters Degree is worthless. Whether you like her or not it's an accredited university in the USA that has standing. Who to believe? The US national system that provides that accreditation or some anonymous farang on Thai Visa.

I thought about it for a fraction of a second and decided to go with the US system.

I wouldn't say a degree is worthless it proves who ever has obtained a degree is capable of learning , just like you can train monkeys , dogs etc and I don't mean this to sound derogatory to some one who has a degree but it doesn't always mean they are up to scratch with normal everyday situations. Also just because someone hasn't studied and obtained a qualification it doesn't mean they're not intelligent

  3. That would not be legal. You cannot obtain a visa for Thailand while in the country.

If you did do it there is good chance that immigration would notice it on departure or entry when you tried to use it,

Thanks Joe , I thought it seemed to good an idea !

Also, if you think about it, you would be in Thailand with a visa that had been issued in the UK after your last entry stamp. How would you use it to enter the country that you're already in?

That part would be no problem as I would go to Laos , so would have exit stamp in my passport .

On return to Thailand the new triple entry visa would be activated instead of free 30 day admission

  4. Hi Jamie

I haven't read all the replies as there are to many ! But if it helps here's what happened for me last year.

I did pretty much the same as you for my Thai g/f and also got refused.

I then tried through thaivisaexpress in pattaya with the same information as before but I think they worded some of it differently .They operate a no visa no fee policy , we're very helpful and about 2 weeks later g/f had visa !

It's annoying that doing it ourselves was refused but at least she got the visa .

It's worth giving them a call for a chat . Ask for Paul , they have a website thaivisaexpress.co.uk

    Good luck

P.s I think it cost about 25000 baht but can't remember exactly

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

  5. for 100 bht you can rent a motorcycle !

But if 100 bht /day is too much?????wait in line like cattle .coffee1.gif

Probable because most people do not have a motorbike driving licences, insurance and travel or health insurance that would cover themselves in the event of an accident.

And some people like to have a drink and don't want to take the chance on killing someone or themselves , I guess u don't drink ( or do drugs )

  6. For what it's worth here's my view on the situation , I'm from the uk and whenever I've left a bar/night club in the early hours many people are drunk so normal manners go out the window in taxi queues ,it becomes every man for himself on many occasions often resulting in fights.

Imagine what it would be like if they were all mixed nationalities on holiday like it is here ?

I've used the service to jomtien about 30 times so I'm no expert but not had problems in general.

Yes you get the odd <deleted> queue jumping but I bite my tongue and avoid confrontation for the sake of 3 or 4 minutes and have always arrived back at hotel trouble free.

This situation is not unique to pattaya or Thailand

  7. I spent the last three weeks touring Issan. I stayed in every sizeable city and rarely saw a farang. There were a few but to think farangs are making an impact on the Issan economy is ridiculous. I can't tell you how often children just stared at me in wonderment. We remain a rare breed in this area of the country. Yes there are married farangs in the baan, that doesn't equate to anything but a minimal impact on the economy.

You obviously didn't travel around nong khai region , there's plenty of farang there many of which are good friends together ( all nationalities ) and yes we do put a lot of money into the community !

  8. It is amazing. A death reported on Thai Visa without all sorts of innuendo, subtle and not so much.

Sorry that his relatively young life was ended whatever the reason and that he's left behind those who will be pained by his absence. Alcohol causes a lot of misery.

How do you know it was alcohol that caused his death ? Like op said it could have been a heart attack or even just fainting and then falling down the stairs and recieving the head injury resulting in death RIP
  9. Yeah, I might be up for some fishing, depending on the price, but I guess that depends on how many are going. I dont really know of any boats or charters here in Pattaya. Only went out once from here, and the gear was not very good, and the fish were about sardine size. I was expecting that these little fish would be thrown back in, but no, all of them were kept. Price was 2000 baht! I dont even know if this is the best time of the year for bigger fish here.

Try contacting pattaya fishing tours on Facebook , I've never been with them but they seem to have a good reputation for organizing fresh water and sea fishing trips

  10. Got my Thai license for car and m/bike very easy in Nong Khai.

I was told its not possible to get them on a tourist visa but that's all I have and still no problems.

    Ok here's what I did

Got medical certificate from doctors ( about 50 baht )

Photocopies of passport showing your pic and p/port number and also of tourist visa and entry date

Copies of my uk driving license

Proof of address signed by landlady

Went to the DLT ( department of land transport ) and handed over copies of above and filled in application form with help from staff and my Thai girlfriend.

They then handed me back the paper work after doing whatever it was they needed to do and told me to take it to the immigration office.

Waited 2 days to be able to collect papers back from immigration.

Having got them back returned to DLT and handed papers to staff , then had to take a test which involved hitting a brake pedal when a light came on and a colour test based on traffic lights.

Next they took my photograph and within 10 minutes handed me my car and m/bike license valid for 1 year ( total cost was about 500 baht although I can't remember exact price )

If you only want bike license it will be cheaper and need less copies of documents.

    Hope this helps

  11. What if I bought a ticket to say Malaysia exiting Thailand after my first 60 day entry period was over.

    Would that help things?

I could kill two birds with one stone and do my border run.

    Entirely up to you.

The extra ticket is not required in order for you to fly to Thailand.

The onward or return ticket may not be required by Thai rules but the fact is that it's up to the airline who they accept on board , if that particular airline says you need an onward ticket it's up them regardless of Thai rules

    See the above posts.

  12. If cash was taken from his credit card ... can he not contact the bank for a refund?

If money taken from an ATM .... do they not have cameras installed?

Another farang screwed in Thailand .... should be the TAT slogan

It says cash was taken from his credit card ?

Does that mean they used an ATM to withdraw money ? If so I didn't think it was possible to withdraw 50,000

If it charged to his card with his signature under duress I think he should be able to claim it back or cancel the transaction now he has a police report.

Is it just me ? But something doesn't sound quite right ?

  13. I was pulled over for speeding recently, but they ( the traffic police) couldn't tell me what speed I was actually doing. So I asked what the limit was. 120kph on expressways and 110 kph on country roads. So even the BiB don't know the limits. TiT.

300baht on the spot fine. Worth it !

I was stopped recently on highway 7 Bangkok , bib wanted 500 for speeding , I was doing 90 where max was 120 but he didn't have a clue what my speed was as he was stood at roadside with no camera !

I politely refused to pay and told him I was not speeding so he said why was I in lane 3 ( of 4 ) so I said because I was overtaking , he then told my Thai wife I have to pay money because I should overtake on inside lane !

After about 5 minutes of my smiling and polite refusal to pay he sent me on my way and told my wife I need to learn Thai driving rules !

  14. There are very many very intelligent Thais , I think the problem is they don't want the majority to be well educated so the elite upper class can continue to be corrupt and control thus protecting their own wealth, you only have to look at some of the comments made about issan people during recent protests. I have a friend teaching English in a public school out here and the average class size is about 60 pupils , compare that to a private school class size.

you and your "its the elites fault" group are really pushing shit up hill with this crap. The ones that want the north kept uneducated are thaksin and his cronies so that they can control them, if they get eduction then they will realize they are being lied to and will no longer back the ptp/thaksin. The only way you can keep corruption going is by keeping the people dumb and that is exactly what the ptp are now doing. The elites have nothing to do with it, they are not in govt, the ptp/thaksin are, they are the ones that need to be ridiculed over this, using this for your personal bias and putting it before whats best for the people of Thailand is pretty pathetic really but typical of a thaksin lover.

I think you obviously have very strong political views unlike myself. To be totally honest with you I have no political interest in any Thai party or in my home country as I believe that nearly all politicians are corrupt which ever country they serve in.

On that note I would like to end this discussion with you as you've obviously got an attitude problem

  16. There is a lot of post collecting going on????? But I would be really intersted in one thing: Until now I thought you can only get a 14 or 15 days extention on a touriist visa????? Could some sensible people clarify this one!!!!!

    Hi wernerkl

Not sure if you mean extension or re entry into Thailand.

If you mean entry into Thailand the rules changed on the first of November and now members of g7 countries get 30 days at land crossings instead of the old 15

  17. I would recommend spending A few days il Laos,or other countries around Thailand. It would be good just to get more educated.

Thanks thrilled but I've already been to more counties than I can remember to mention but now I plan to retire here in Thailand and as I'm still relatively young will need to be a bit more careful with the finances , also there's still a lot of places here I haven't visited so going across the border is only done out of nesessity

  18. You can get a 2 entry in Vientiane. Since you probably got your 3 entries in your home country you will not have a problem in Vientiane.

Have you been getting 30 day extensions for your 60 day entries? You can get almost 9 months out of a 3 entry if you do the last entry just before your visa expires.

    Hello joe

No I haven't had the 30 day extension because it sounded a bit expensive although I can't remember what the price was and also I think I would have run out of time before activating the 3rd visa.

I know that I can get a free 30 day visa ( but still have to pay the 35 dollars for the Laos visa ) but not sure if I would have problems if I kept going over the bridge every month

  19. At the moment I am here on a triple entry tourist visa acquired in Hull.

I am living in Nong khai and go across the bridge on my bicycle pay 35 dollars get my passport stamped and cycle back , so far no problems. When I go again in December it will be my final visa so in February I will have to go to Thai consulate in Vientiane , this could be where my problems begin !

A couple of questions here can I get a triple entry visa again like I did in Hull ? ( this was my second triple entry in 12 months )

Or is it possible to get an o visa ?

I am not married to a Thai and only 48 years old so not sure how or if I can continue living here ?

    Any advice welcome
