If they can take the winter fuel allowance away from UK pensioners then there is no way they are going to give an increase to a pensioner living in Thailand.
There is a way around it though move back to UK get the increase then move back to Thailand or if you move to Philippines you would get the increase every year.
I agree it's not fair but its not going to change, a pensioner living in Thailand is very low down on the list of priorities. (They don't vote}
Not quite true. If you return to the UK, you can claim a full pension even for a few weeks. On your return to Thailand, it goes back to the original. I've written letters to MPs. Nick Clegg replied, "I have raised this in the House and it is not on the agenda." That was way before the influx of illegal immigrants who have contributed nothing and the money spent on them.

14 hours ago, snoop1130 said:A light-hearted incident in Kamphaeng Phet, upper central Thailand, has sparked laughter and bewilderment across Thai social media. A Thai woman's attempt to help a foreign man by removing a cockroach from his head took an unexpected turn when she discovered the insect was actually his pet.
The amusing video, shared widely on platforms and picked up by Esor News, shows the foreign man gently transferring his cockroach from his hand onto his head. Dressed in a black balaclava, the man seemed to be providing his unusual pet with a stable surface for a walk.
Unaware of the situation, a well-intentioned passerby flicked the cockroach off his head, provoking the man's furious reaction. He was seen jumping and shouting at the woman, who by then had already moved away. The man then scrambled to find his cherished pet, eventually replacing it back on his head.
The incident has sparked a flood of humorous comments from Thai netizens. Many poked fun at the idea of a pet cockroach, with some joking that the woman’s actions caused the original cockroach to flee: "The cockroach that got flicked already disappeared. What he just picked up was a different one."
Others offered practical observations, suggesting, "You should have put a collar on it," while some provided a tongue-in-cheek critique of her 'good deed': "Oh, girl… Being a good person is very hard nowadays."
A few comments ventured into the comical absurdity of keeping a cockroach as a pet: "Come to my home, several species are available."
Despite the incident’s funny nature, it serves as a reminder of cultural differences and the surprises that such interactions can bring. As humourous debates continue online, the story underlines the broader challenges of understanding and respect in cross-cultural exchanges.

Nonsense. Name calling is indefensible. But seems to be acceptable in some countries political arena now. Disagreement and putting opposing opinions is not bickering, or confined to the aged.

While this sort of behavior is acceptable to you it is not to most of us and most Thais.
A stupid remark. The man was objecting to all foreigners living here, and some supporting Thai families being lumped in with the tossers that cause problems. He made a fair and reasonable point.

The subject is Thailand's tourism and not yet another rant on Trump; plenty of other forums and threads on that as well ......Point taken. I was objecting to a comment 'Zelensky goofing around.'

Difficult for whom? The applicant for having to make another journey for a document that has been thoroughly checked and just needs a stamp? Or for the Immigration officers? Years ago, I could apply in the morning and collect my passport in the afternoon. Now at ninety-one, I could do without the extra journey.

They come/came in droves and the very same way they will leave one day. With the Chinese, South Asians and the Middle Easterners in you scared away the (financially) better quality tourism. The Russians are here as long as Zelensky goofs around; wait for that settlement and the Russians disappear into thin air. The Chinese are a more sensitive group of business with herd character.
As long as Thailand considers itself semi-divine, above the rest of the entire world, as long as Thailand First and everything else Second ......... but explain that to the Grannies and Uncles who are busy selling their votes for the upcoming municipality elections on 11 May all over the land 😉'Zelensky goofs around'? I would suggest that he is trying to protect his country from an invader that is getting support from Trump, who never served in the military for his country (bone spurs?) and his traitorous administration. Who would give up their country to an invader? Treacherous Trump is aligning himself with Putin, who is playing him like a puppet. Not long before he gets his comeuppance, methinks. The sooner the better.

but I have adapted myself to their ways... bit noisy, pushy... but I enjoy it... once I have accepted it... it's fun to watch them... it's better than a TV show... I feel myself as if m a live audience to it...
The tourism market trends are showing a shift... particularly with Vietnam, Malaysia...
Thailand will still stay on top as a tourist destination because of ease of travel, food, nightlife and the xxx factor...
Ni Hao... 😆
Ni Hao? I am not Chinese. I'm a Farang. I'm offended. Watcha cock!😃

One wonders what Europe and the UK would look like now if Trump had been President and sided with the aggressor in 1939? Perhaps the USA would have been next on Hitler's shopping list, much the same as being on Putin's list now. With friends like Trump, who needs enemies? He is untrustworthy and is treating the world like he treats his lackeys. I feel sorry for those Americans who lost their lives protecting their foreign friends. And ashamed and sorry for the Americans that are now reaping the havoc they have sown and are becoming even more isolated from the rest of the world due to the lack of trust. God Help America.

I have put this is in the Community forum ,it may be the wrong forum and frankly my dear I don't give a damn. ,was that Humphrey Bogart?
Now I'm very old and have no idea exactly what a digital nomad is ,but I'm thinking I would like to learn to be one so I have something to do all day if & when I retire it will be exciting
I may not retire and be like some of my work colleagues who are in their 70's and millionaires in assets but keep working day after day to socialise and he just rather than sit all day in their homes alone if their partner has died etc
But please can we get back to the core subjects of digital nomads !!!!
Quite frankly I'm scared to retire and be locked up all day and bored out of my mind in that horrid View Talay 2B in Pattaya like I was back in 2024 but that's another story
But I could retire if I had something like being a digital nomad , would it be exciting?
I watch YouTube vids and I see them laying by a pool in Dubai or Bali with a laptop on their lap sipping a pina colada
It looks exciting
What is exactly a digital nomad, would they want me ?
You know it's not Humpty Gocart. It was Clark Gable.

The Department of Rights Protection and Liberties has released a statement confirming that the death of former police chief Joe Thitisan was the result of suicide by hanging, with no signs of foul play.
On 18th April 2025, the Ministry of Justice's Department of Rights Protection published findings concerning the tragic death of former police colonel Thitisan, who died while in custody at Bangkok Klong Prem Central Prison.
Initial investigations were delayed to await the formal autopsy results from the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Chulalongkorn Hospital, as well as evidence analysis by the Royal Thai Police.
The forensic report has now concluded that the injuries found were consistent with suicide.
Key details from the autopsy include a neck compression mark consistent with hanging, superficial abrasions on the left arm consistent with post-mortem insect bites, and old bruising on the torso, none of which suggested external assault or struggle.
The toxicology report identified the presence of antidepressants, sleeping pills, and a medication for high blood pressure, yet no toxic substances were detected.
In summary, the official cause of death has been determined as asphyxiation due to hanging. The investigation is proceeding, with the police preparing to pass the findings to the public prosecutor for judicial review.
