I just returned from the Prachuap Khiri Khan tax office at the Prachuap provincial office. (Not Hua Hin) I had my total amount that was transferred to fill in their forms. As well as proof the the monies were from Social Security office. While speaking to the personnel. They asked my wife where did my money come from. My wife showed them my form 1099 that showed how much was paid to me from the SSI. They then told her that all of that income on that piece of paper would be taxed and i would need to pay thousands on it to their office. I tried to explain to them (with wife's help in Thai) that the DTA for SSi to Thailand is not taxable. The tax office asked my wife why i got this money for mean she told them i was disabled. They asked me to show them proof of my disability. The office knew nothing about this and said I would need to pay on that amount and then clarified that disabled in Thailand are given proof of their disability and are only allotted an income of about 100,000 before they paid tax.. To make matters worse, the amount sent to Thailand was more than what i got from my SSDI. Because my children in Thailand also get SSDI and that is sent to my US account and then transferred to Thailand. They said only my income mattered that showed on my 1099 form. They did not care what was sent from the US to Thailand out of my pension. I then began thinking this tax office clearly has no idea about taxation laws and the DTA that applies to SSI pensions. I showed them online that SSI from the US to Thailand is not paid as per the DTA. They would not accept this. ( The US-Thailand Tax Agreement: Under this agreement, US social security income is exempt from Thai taxation. This means if your primary source of income is US social security, you are not required to pay Thai taxes on this income, regardless of how and when it's transferred to your Thai bank account } Again they wanted me to show proof that I was disabled as well. America does not issue proof for this as far as I know. WE do not carry a card around saying I get SSDI because I am disabled. Only when you require special services are you then given some document that grants permission for those services. (IE disabled parking, ramps, and other things that police will perhaps hassle you over. But not income from direct deposits coming from the SSI office. So here I am. Telling you the tax office here in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan. Has no clue about how to manage my taxes and are determined to make me pay thousands on my SSI. Does anyone know if another office (perhaps Hua Hin) is more knowledgeable in this and has an English speaker working there to assist us? I know if I file through this office, they will do it wrong and make me pay alot for no reason.

Violent Parents Banned After Playground Assault Caught on CCTV - video
thesetat replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Just another over-reaction by netizens as well as a bad reaction to what happened to the child that got pushed down. The parents should have apologized and the kid did not show any reaction to what the adults did which means it did not hurt the child. But the parents should learn to control themselves in this manner. Hardly worth banning them for doing it. I would hate to see what would happen to me when i playfully pretend to kick my own kids. A video would show the same and it would be totally blown out of proportion as this incident has been done. -
Thai Girl Thanks Swiss Saviour a Year After Life-Changing Rescue
thesetat replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
Lucky for the Swiss man that the girl didn't die. Otherwise the Thais would be blaming him instead of thanking him. Too often this is the case in Thailand. So, it was good the foreigner helped and the girl lived. But I would not go around trying to do this normally. Lest you get accused of making it worse even if that is not the truth. -
Bangkok's New Plan: Beat Traffic with a Congestion Charge
thesetat replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
I am curious the same thing. How to collect the fees on charges only made during peak congestion hours? Any kind of collection point would just make the traffic problem worse. What about those people who are not in the traffic congestion for reasons other than commuting? -
Thailand Rolls Out Free Condoms to Teens for Safe Valentine’s
thesetat replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I am curious 2 things.... Why are so many members here twisting this OP into an American USAID problem? and Why does the government actually believe that 14 to 18 year old kids would find or make a way to a health service to get free condoms? Most kids that age do not want to lose face in such a way. Just as most kids that age would not pre-plan to go to some health clinic just to get free condoms. The government should offer these at schools or other places that are easily accessible to a kid. Jeez, the cost to get to the health clinic would be more than buying some condoms at 7. -
Thailand Debates Costly Move to Relocate Capital from Bangkok
thesetat replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They are avoiding the real issue blaming the sea rising. When it is already proven that Bangkok is literally sinking. A sea wall will not help them if the ground beneath them continues to sink. -
Kind of makes you wonder. If the Police station water supply is out then where are the inmates there going to the toilets? For some odd reason based on this I get the feeling the police put the sign up about no water just to stop the foreigners lining up to use their toilets. These actions of the foreigners should not be taken against them. Pattaya has failed miserably to install even temp toilets for tourists to use. Where else can they go?

Thaksin Delays Yingluck's Homecoming: Return to Thailand Uncertain
thesetat replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It would not surprise me in the least to learn that she is already in Thailand hiding out with Thaksin supporting her. Currently she is just waiting for all the hooha from the inquiries about Thaksins hospital stay. Once Thaksin sorts out those people and his daughter changes the laws for incarceration then she can make herself shown publicly again. -
Michigan State Rep sterilized herself to protest Trump
thesetat replied to connda's topic in Off the beaten track
If she is this stupid to do something like that for the reasons stated. Then I pity the state where she is a state representative and am curious how she even got into that position and remain? What a dolt. By the time she gave birth and raised the child where anything Trump initiated. It would have been changed from the various other presidents that the US will have in the future. -
Can not wait to see the replies of hate against Trump here about this OP. Currently, I am laughing at most of those regularly posting their Anti-Trump rhetoric. This Op must really get their goat. To imagine the other world leaders gathering simply to discuss Trumps success and how they wish their country to follow in his footsteps. Rooting out wokeism and illegal immigrants as well as auditing the government budgets to reduce national spending and debt.

USAID - Dems in full delusional mode as usual
thesetat replied to theblether's topic in Political Soapbox
i really do not think these complaints are about being audited and trimmed. Most of the complainers are the Dems. But I think the reason for their complaints is not because of what is being done. It is because WHO is doing it. Clearly the Dems know about the spending and had approved monies for some things the taxpayers money was being used for . https://www.wsj.com/opinion/the-left-didnt-always-love-usaid-us-agency-for-international-development-c7888341 If the Dems had begun auditing this NGO and demanding to see where the money goes and they were refused access to it. I am most certain the Dems would have shut the funding down and done exactly the same as Trump by looking at everything they used the money for. But this is the chance the Dems to attack Trump. They will find everything possible to use to attack what Trump is trying to do simply because it is Trump. The rhetoric about Musk not being a GOV official is a prime example. He is not doing anything without Trumps orders. And what he is doing is checking what non-gov officials have been doing with the money. I do not think the courts can stop Trump. I also noticed it has been over a week since Trump begun this against USAID yet, there is not a single poll telling if the taxpayers agree with Trumps actions or if they are against it and think he is wrong to do it. What I do know is that the USAID biggest cut of the money given them was to supply enemies or to do subversive actions with countries that the GOV did not want the people to know about. They did it to hide things they knew were wrong and not justified. This one action of Trump is going to set a precedence for other NGOs. Personally, I hope Trumps team can root out all the bad stuff and. begin the program anew actually helping people around the world. If my tax dollars are going to be spent in other countries it should be for the good of all people and not just the good of the President or Democratic party to negotiate. -
USAID - Dems in full delusional mode as usual
thesetat replied to theblether's topic in Political Soapbox
Yeah, I am sure offering millions to terrorist organizations are the only way to get them to talk. The same goes for paying 10s of thousands to have an LGBT show put on by another country. I can really see your point how the USAID is spearheading using this as the means to communicate with other entities. Ohh let's not forget about the millions sent to Hamas and the weapons the USAID sent. This USAId seems to do more to make or continue conflict than it does to help people. I guess you also think their donations to the WUHAN labs that most likely created Covid truly helped the world or the USA. -

3 weeks into it and you are complaining he has not found 2 trillion in waste yet haha.... pretty ridiculous to expect them to complete all that in less than a month. You are only adding to to the hatred of Trump and making yourself look bad in the process. I would love to see if you and 5 geniuses could go through the expenditures of thousand of programs in less than a month. Not to mention this is only from 1 NGO. Imagine all the others as well. It this is the starting point. They may be able to save more than double what Musk claimed would be possible. -
Roaring Lion Terrifies Residents and Tourists in Pattaya
thesetat replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
People complain because of the roaring. Why aren't the police called for all the soi dogs barking? They do it nightly and are much louder than one lion. Surely, the neighbors are aware of the lions presence so I doubt anyone was scared hearing it roar. I would bet this man takes care of this lion a lot better than any Thai zoo. At least it is not being drugged and put on display for tourist photo shoots. Or killed to sell body parts to Chinese -
US Aid Freeze Linked to Refugee's Death at Thai Border

I think you are wrong. Especially given that most of this USAIDs money was for Black OPs and subversive OPs rather than for helping people. -
US Aid Freeze Linked to Refugee's Death at Thai Border
thesetat replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And how many americans die daily due to their lack of medical care? Because their budget is 1000 times less than USAIDs budget was. Absolutely no pre-thought to your post about one death when so many die daily in the US for the exact same reason. Lack of funding. You seem to only find your pity for someone when it is to go against something Trump has done. Many more Americans die because of a lack of health insurance than previously thought, concludes a new state by state study by Families USA, a non-profit organisation that advocates health care for all Americans. More than 26 260 Americans aged 25 to 64 died in 2006 because they lacked health insurance—more than twice as many as were murdered, Families USA said. In the seven years from 2000 to 2006 an estimated 162 700 Americans died because of lack of health insurance. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2323087/ -
Thaksin Pressed to Tackle Cambodian Call-Centre Scams
thesetat replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This is why Thaksin continues to have his hold on the government and in politics. Even the news OPs show he is the one people turn to to get something done. They give him this power. Thaksin Pressed to Tackle Cambodian Call-Centre Scams Why do they not press the PM or the government bodies that are supposed to do this? -
Yeah.... you can delete and remove things. But they are never really gone. digital footprints will always remain and lead back to you. It only takes a techy to find them. Which I am sure the government and Musks employees can sort out easily enough. You can run but you can not hide haha... Even Thailand has the tech to find posts deleted. I recall they recently arrested some woman for sex content that she posted a few years ago and then removed. They were still able to find it and prosecute.

Colombian President Suggests Cocaine Should Be Legalized Like Whisky
thesetat replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Sounds more like their leader sold himself out to the drug cartels so the violence will stop. Cocaine is not the same as alcohol. It is highly addictive and when using it causes your body to demand more. It reduce rationality to obtain it as well. Most criminal activity is done so the user can purchase more of the drug.- 51 replies

Thai and mighty: President Xi praises Thai PM for scam crack down
