Yes. At that particular place there is a police stand where they constantly do police checkpoints having the drivers pull over in the extra lane. I had a condo owner try to evict me for not paying the last months rent. She sent me all kinds of legal notices to get out. I went to the local police and filed a report about it. Showed them I had paid deposit for that month in advance when moving in. THe police assured me that she would need to have them present to evict me forcibly and that they are on my side being my contract clearly outlined the portion of deposit was for the last money + damages. I stayed there until the last day of the contract and the owner could do nothing about it. Then the owner tried to slap me with a 40,000 damages bill haha... I told her to take me to court and prove the money was spent to fix things and that damages were incurred by me. Since I had photos of the empty condo before moving in and after I left I could prove I did not need to pay anything more than a simple cleaning fee. Eventually the owner gave up and although I did not get my damage deposit back, they stopped harassing me. I would suggest you gather enough proof the money you paid was for last months rent. Make a police report to protect yourself if the owner decides to bring the police to your door along with reporters to make you look like the bad farang. Forget about your damage deposit as you will have to sue them to get it back.. And go find a better place to live. Thais rarely like to return money to the renter and will make any excuse to try to get more. Your contract is the only thing that will prevent them from doing something that will make you look like you are wrong.

Everyone is giving all these comments about warranties and fail to answer the OPs question... I will try. Have you ever seen Thais or heard them comment about going to the shop to service their vehicle? Most service done is when there is already a problem with the car. Hence, an extended service warranty would not be cost effective for the buyer. When I bought my Chevy, we ask the seller many questions about warranty information, all of which he had to look up, showing he knew nothing about the topic. I am sure this is prevalent for other sellers in the country. Thais do not consider maintenance relevant as shown in most everything. So why buy it or check about longer maintenance programs offered. Also, one other replier gave a good comment about the cost in using maintenance warranty. Even though they offer it, you still end up paying more than if taken to a different shop and having it done.
