This is the price we pay for stopping sales of alcohol during Buddhist holidays. They can not buy their whiskey so they go to the local meth store and get high instead of drunk haha.. I feel sorry for the person sliced up. Even though the man claims he did not do that, he was hallucinating so perhaps he does not realize what he did at the time. I am happy the police were able to track him down and catch him. One less scumbag on the Pattaya streets.

I am ready to bring my tent and put it up on Pattaya Beach. Better than renting condos or hotel for sure and has privacy once inside. -
Nightmare at the Prachuap tax office

I honestly think it owuld not matter if you showed them in thai this agreement. They will not understand it nor adhere to it unless their head office instructs them with their own version. Which seems to be the main problem with their idea to tax us. They simply do not give enough details to their branches for them to do their job successfully. . -
One Dead in Shootout After Failed Motorcycle Theft in Bangkok

She knew already..... Justice was given. Now the family is seeking to find a way to collect money sounds more appropriate. The man fired at the police and they are questioning why the police returned fire? -
Usually, when someone hits the water too hard or hard enough to damage their body, they lose consciousness upon impact. I wonder how he was able to climb back into the boat. Perhaps he died from a heart attack following the incident or got internal damage that delayed his death long enough to get back into the boat. Either way, the boat needs to be checked for safety protocols. Sounds like they were not in place if he was so big for this to happen. ...

Is Elon Draining the Swamp on Government Spending or Is He the Swamp?

I understand your point. But look at the competition from NASA and at their accomplishments with the money they get yet, unable to produce the things that Musks companies have. NASA's budget for fiscal year (FY) 2024 is estimated to be $28,848.9 billion. This budget includes funding for space technology, science, Earth science, planetary science, and more Yet here we are. Musk got starlink working. He got the reusable and landable fuel tanks to work. He has a starship that can easily and quickly be relaunched. Plus all the other accomplishments his companies have made with less than 10% of NASA budget. -

Nightmare at the Prachuap tax office
thesetat replied to thesetat's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I think you can not read. I said I was there and asking questions. I never said i tried to file the taxes. I wanted information to see if I had to file. My logic was sound. However, logic does not work when dealing with Thais. They have no clue what is going on. NO tax return was filed when there. Just unanswered questions. -

Nightmare at the Prachuap tax office
thesetat replied to thesetat's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
AS my headline said.. What a nightmare. I pity those who do have to sit there and file their taxes with idiots that do not learn their jobs and the new rules for filing. I think by Mar. 31 there is going to be many more cases of the ignorance the Thai tax offices have concerning how a foreigner should file. -

My SSI as well as my kids are considered Non-assessable? I had thought they were connecting to banks to see what money was transferred to Thailand banks from abroad. To tax that money. -

Thanks.. thankfully I did not file while there. I knew immediately they are not only stupid about the new tax laws but they were also stupid trying to ask me why I get disability and how long i have been getting it and where is my proof i am disabled. They really have no clue what to do about these new tax laws for foreigners. I will just save my documents and if they come knocking I will have everything handy. -

Nightmare at the Prachuap tax office
thesetat replied to thesetat's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Haha well given that this tax office is trying to say I would need to pay thousands just on my SSI. this does not include half the amount I transferred including the SSI my children get as well. Half was 500,000. Mind you.. i only was at the office to inquire so i could obtain any documents they needed to file later. I have not filed yet. But this office was completely ignorant about it all. -

You mean you do not know.. foreigners are required to file tax on money sent to Thailand throughout the 2024 year and to file before March 31 this year? But only if you are in Thailand more than 180 days. This came into effect Jan 1 2025 as far as i know -

I already had a tx Id number from 13 years ago. I did not need to apply for that. To say someone is stupid for wanting to protect their wifes position and keep from problems arising is stupid in itself. My wife has a great job making almost as much as my pension plus benefits that even I rely on like their free medical for family. Her advancement is a sure thing. So why I would want to take a chance to have the Tax office contacting her or making her life and position at her work difficult for this reason?- 160 replies

Nightmare at the Prachuap tax office
thesetat replied to thesetat's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I am American so it may be different fo you. I do not need to file a tax return in the USA but I am able to do so and have done so several times to get incentive monies during Covid. But it is not required of me there because my sole income is from SSI and they have records for this in their database. As for you, in America they do not care about threshold. Everyone should file to be determined if owed tax money or if have to pay. Even if you know your income is less than a certain amount. Income is normally automatically taken by the employer so there is a record of the amount paid. The employer sends you a statement showing the total paid into tax. I receive a statement from SSI showing the yearly amount received as well as a nice big 0 showing no taxes taken out. -

Nightmare at the Prachuap tax office
thesetat replied to thesetat's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I have been here for 13 years. My wife runs one of the Government ministry offices locally so i try my best to keep legal in all aspects. Since my income is solely from social security then it is not taxable in Thailand so I did not see a problem filing to keep legal problems from arising that may include my wife. But this office has no clue.- 160 replies
