  1. That is how I did mine 14 years ago, but now in Aus to do the pension, I am still on my original "O" currently, I rang the embassy and the lady told me that I could only get an "OA" in Australia and would have to get the "O" in Thailand if I let the current extension lapse, and that was last week. Good to hear that it can still be optained in Aus.
  2. Not possible in Australia, they will only issue "OA" through the Thai Embassy in Canberra. Easiest way is to come in visa exempt and optain an "O" Visa whilst in Thailand. As stated an agent will be very helpful for this initial "O" Visa.
  3. Not just assumptions, go to one2car it's all there.
  4. I would go for the X Max, know a few that have them and they are more than satisfied. I am based in Chiang Mai and they use them in the mountains for quite long rides. Both bikes are easy to ride so city riding is not an issue. One moved from the Forza and is happy he did. I have the baby brother N Max as my 7-11 bike and it goes great. Some will say different as it does revolve around personal preference. Both have good resale values.
  5. To get a real time depreication on vehicles, just look at the Hybrid Mercedes and compaire the same class be it S, E or C and look at the difference in price between that and a naturally aspirated vehicle of the same year, even hybrids depericate way quicker than a petrol/deisel of the same model and year, so the plug ins of course will be even quicker to depreicate.

  7. I had a SCB platinum visa which was last year rebranded to CardX never a change on either.
  8. Very surprised that no one has mentioned " TWIST Chiang Mai" ( was Twist by David), the owner is David from "Davids Kitchen". A great place to eat with the same great food and service you would have expected from Davids Kitchen. The food is a little more fusion but well worth the visit.
  9. Just get a Yellow Book and save all the hassle.
  10. Strange as this may sound but Aldi the supermarket has GREAT deals on pre paid sims. I used them on my last trip home from a friends recomendation.
  11. If you want to fly out from Chiang Mai go to Luang Prabang in Laos. Great city and can fly direct.
  12. Can't comment on BKK bank but unless rules have changed you do not need a work permit to open a FCA with SCB I have 2, US$ and AUD, but you can not trans to a baht account without visiting your branch.
  13. When I returned to thailand after a 3 week holiday in Australia, I was asked by the airline staff when I checked in and had to show my retirement extension in my passport to be able to board the aircraft without an onward ticket.
  14. Mauritius, a little more expensive but beautiful beaches, great food and landscape. Visa options are easier and less expensive than here as well.
