  1. changing passports can only be done via airport, not land crossings
  2. seems a lot of running around just to renew a passport
  3. as long as he hasn't used a 60 day extension since his last entry into Thailand excluding re-entry permit entry, I can not see how they can refuse,( but it is Jomtein) he could also apply in Bangkok if the timing is right
  4. in order to be a tax resident you need to live in Thailand for 180 ish days a year, so if you bring the 800k in a year when you are not tax resident its then tax free, likewise any savings before 1st jan 2024 brought in are tax free try and avoid being a tax resident to guarantee being income Thai tax free, or do as a lot of people are doing and ignore the Thai tax rules
  5. would be fully upgraded as if you never left the UK all money generated in the UK is taxed in the UK
  6. from my extensive searching on google tm87 and tm7 both require 6x4 - https://thailand.go.th/issue-focus-detail/001-01-044
  7. I never mentioned visas just that a review is required as the immigration rules are out of date and abused
  8. show me a link. otherwise a pointless post
  9. why would the UK press post about Thai income taxation
  10. no flip flop here, just a call to review immigration rules, everyone knows the old rules are outdated and abused
  11. IO need to see bank statement/book that show that he has complied with money in Bank rules, ie 800k for 2 months prior to application and 3 months after stamp in passport, then can drop to 400k until 2 months before new application, been that way for a few years now
  12. I think the problem arises from people's confusion over what is stamped in their passports, a 'visa' is normally issued outside of Thailand, some can be issued inside Thailand ie non immigrant 'O' visa as part of a conversion, but non immigrant 'O''A' can not be issued inside Thailand an 'extension' to the permission to stay is issued inside Thailand, be it 30 days, 60 days or longer all 1,900thb. I think the op is not making it clear what he has and what he wants, this makes it harder to give correct advice
  13. if you do go for the married 1st year to retirement 2nd year, the new extension will start from date of application, not date of expiry of old extension
  14. they want to check all other passports are in the same name, its normal if you have more than 1 nationality wherever you apply from
  15. Rayong, old passport visa info entered onto first page of new passport, but still require original visa
  16. maybe as actual visa is in old passport, yearly extensions always where i live require site of the 'visa'
  17. here are 3 ways to enter Thailand other than with a re-entry permit those are Visa exempt/visa waver at present it gives 60 days entry permission on entry , stamped in passport by immigration officer on entry to Thailand Tourist visa obtained out side Thailand this gives a 60 entry permission on entry Non immigrant 'O' visa this gives a 90 entry permission on entry. this can then in the last 30 days allow for a 1 year extension of your permission to stay stamp. either for marriage or retirement ( over 50) Visa exempt and tourist visa can be converted within Thailand to a Non immigrant 'O' visa as part of a conversion process if you list the dates of any planned trips someone could advise the best course of action
  18. does your actual visa expire on 21st may, or the latest 90 day permission to stay stamp you received on entry into Thailand' another option would be another visa from savannakhet
  19. get someone in to have a look around
  20. made 2 transfers this week 1st one went through in seconds, 2nd one a day later was delayed 2 hours which they informed me at the time, so did transfer at 8am, money in bank at 9.55am, both from UK
