Major Thai brewer announces increase in beer prices
Eaglekott replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
For the past years I have always payed 605 Baht for a box of big bottles of Leo, Good I read this post because I usually stop on the road outside the shop and pay 605 in cash through the window of my car when the staff is lifting the box in my trunk. I wonder how much I will have to pay next time. 617 maybe? -
Major Thai brewer announces increase in beer prices
Eaglekott replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Good that taste differ for every one or we would have only one beer brand that every one is buying. For my taste, Heineken, Budwiser and the beer with no taste so you need to put some tase with lime in it, San Miguel Light is the three in the bottom of the list of beers you mentioned here. I agree Beer Lao is good, the dark one preferred. Leo is brewed in two places, One is better than the other, I have heard its because of the different sources of water. -
You are very lucky that only got mild symptoms, I know 2 people that has died from Covid, One was 54 Years old, only condition was pre-stage diabetes, Something that would not kill you in normal circumstances. He died early in the first wave where Vaccine was not widely spread. The other guy, the son of my friend in his 20s, anti vaxxer, when he changed his mind it was already too late.

If you did not have any vaccine you might have been hospitalized and maybe even cremated by now.

This morning, International flight with Thai Airways, message: "We recommend to wear a mask at all times" No correction if you did not wear mask, Most people did wear it, maybe 5-10 did not. I wore upon boarding and exit the plane when every body stand so close to each other. And I saw some other that did not wear the mask put it on when they went to lavatory. I think that is the right way to go.

Thailand’s dual pricing still gets everyone posting
Eaglekott replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I somehow can understand the dual pricing in national parks and some museums, but not in any thing commercial. I mean in National parks Thai citizens pay for maintenance of the parks and such with their taxes. While tourists just come and use the park and it's resources. Many also leave rubbish behind. Foreigners working here and pay tax should pay Thai price if they show their work permit but i know many places charge Farang price as soon as you look foreign, mening that many Philippinos and others just pay Thai price. For Restaurants and Hospitals and such dual pricing is just awful. -
Means you are 13 years older, so they probably look even better.

A few years ago my wife got a phone call from some one that I immediate called a Scammer, claimed that she has won a new Android Phone, I believe it was a Huawei. She only needed to pay the governmental taxes for it. I called it a scam and told her not to bother about it. She went to our phone number provider TRUE, and payed some tax and got the Phone. I was so surprised. We sold it directly to some friends since we don't use Androids. So not everything is scams.

Are Thailand’s ride-hailing drivers disappearing?
Eaglekott replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You must have been very unlucky, I use Grab Taxis on an average every second day or so and have been using them for years, so far I have not met a single Pushy, Dodgy or Scary driver. A friend of mine booked me a Bolt one time during covid lockdown when Grab stopped work after midnight, and that driver was complaining all the way from Sukhumvit 11 to On nut. He was scary. I just noticed that it seams like you used Grab Car, Not Grab Taxi, so maybe my text above missed the point a little bit. -

Maybe put a cap on how many kilometers they are allowed to drive in a day. And fine them if they are caught exceeding the limit. -
Are Thailand’s ride-hailing drivers disappearing?
Eaglekott replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I make sure to always use the option "Grab Taxi" and not "Grab Car" or "Just Grab". With Grab Taxi you get meter plus 20 baht. They start the meter after they have picked you up. By far the cheapest option and price is mostly lower that the lowest price estimate in the app. Always licensed drivers. I also has it connected to my Credit card so do not have to bother about cash. Most drivers also upfront the highway fee for you in case you go through a pay toll. Some ever use Easy Pass. Much cheaper than all "fixed" price apps like Bolt that tend to sky rocket the price if there is a high demand. -

Let them deliver food, letters and packages but not passengers. Also try to have them to drive more cautious. It's obvious they earn money based on how many deliveries they do so they drive like crazy and risk their and other lives just to be able to do a few more deliveries in a day.
