  1. I used to agree that Thailand had the highest ratio of decent looking women in the world. However after living in Seoul for a while there is no comparison... as good as Thailand is , Korea is miles miles better! Add to that the fashion of micro skirts even in the winter.

Seriously the amount of extremly attractive women in Korea is just staggering!

I've heard the natives are bad-mannered and aggressive. If that's true, what's the point of being there - notwithstanding a high-paying job - if the millions of beauties make you feel as welcome as a fart in an astronaut's suit? :o

Well, apart from a few idiots you get everywhere, thats simply not true - a different culture to Thailand for sure, but by no means unwelcoming.

  3. There were a lot of "quicks" who were unplayable on their day; Marshall, Hall, Snow, Thompson, Lillee, even the despised Larwood....all I'm doing is insulting the ones I leave out. McGrath was great EVERYDAY.

    Marshall 81 2930.4 7876 376 7/22 11/89 20.94 2.68 46.7 22 4

    Mcgrath 124 4874.4 12186 563 8/24 10/27 21.64 2.49 51.9 29 3

    case proven!

If you are to simply go on test averages, there are many in front of McGrath. You've picked Marshall as your favorite, but equally a case could be made for Joel Garner or Curtly Ambrose from that great WI era. Even Stuart Clark, in the current Australian test team, has an average of 17.8.

I think, for his longivity and his ability to also produce records in the one day arena, make McGrath arguably the best fast bowler.

It must be remembered he had the world's greatest wicket taker, Shane Warne, in his team most of the time. He specialised in picking up tail enders thereby leaving little for others. McGrath always targeted the best player in the opposition teams, and his figures against players like Lara and Atherton are proof of his abilities at the top level.

you were doing well until u mentioned Atherton in the same breath as Lara!

  5. May be its been done before if so my apologies:

Well what you do is, got a subject want input on anything or advice post it here and lets talk about it.

It may well be that the answer is already on the Forum somewhere but you missed it ,well members might remember the link for you and post it here.

emmm, isnt that what this forum is already??????

  6. I feel sorry for anyone in this position, but I would feel a lot sorrier for someone who had not been actively promoting the terrorist's agenda.

As we say in Thailand, Som Nom Na :o

I think a comment like this requires an explanation - not just some 'clever' retort!

  7. A couple of weeks ago an even younger girl was cautioned for drawing hopscotch numbers on the pavement!

Friday or Saturday a teenager was taken to court for barking at a dog, a higher court threw the case out.

This country is certainly going to the dogs (excuse the pun), 10 years of T Blair Esq has really messed the UK up. My misses had to jump through hoops to get a settlement visa, and jump through even more for ILR (including making sure she speaks reasonable English), yet Eastern Europeans that speak NO English at all get welcomed with open arms.

The first chance I get to make the final move to LOS can't come quick enough.

I hope you get to make the leap soon Sierra, for you and your missus sake! I've only had an interest in politics and howthe countrys been run for 12 years (since I been paying taxes as an adult) and IMO the damage has been done in that time. Had your missus been an able bodied male between the ages of 18 - 40ish and of Eastern European origin she'd of been in no probs, with food vouchers and a free house to boot. How many females do you see scaling the fence in Calais or queuing up at various imm. centres for handouts? Exactly. If these people are really fleeing persecution and oppression in their own countries, would they all leave behind their wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother? I know I wouldnt. Sorry for going a bit off topic but I need a good rant this morning

EDITTED: typing too fast lots of spelling mistakes

they are not fleeing persecution, Polish particularly and a few other eastern european states are now full members of the EU and thus are able to travel and work in the UK. They are not able to get state benefit - they come to work and generally fill a big hole in the workforce. I dont completely agree with it - particularly as the British government completely underestimated the amount that would arrive. Having said that it does annoy me when people spout of the same tired myths about free housing etc etc - its completely ill informed. asylum Seekers and refugees in the Uk are primarily from African and middle eastern war torn countries - and increasingly China - they are entitled to very limited state help.

Can you name a time in the last 100 years when immigration was not being blamed for Britains problems by those who feel left behind?

The Polish come and fill a big hole in the workplace? You obviously have no friends who work as labourers, brickies etc and are struggling for work because this recent influx of economic migrants are doing the same for half the price. Even the travellers who tarmac drives are using migrant workers instead of their own. Apologies for missing African and Middle Eastern countries off my list of economic migrants, I didnt want to mention the amount bringing HIV/AIDS into the country from sub-Saharan countries or the endless supply of fanatical extremists arriving on our shores to join those already here.

As for being left behind, I earn well and have a succesful job and loving family (no children of my own) it just saddens me to see how England is changing, and fast. In years to come people will look back at the last ten years and see how England went from a once proud, fighting, patriotic country to Europes (and the rest of the worlds) dumping ground.

Dont get me wrong I'm English and always will be but at the rate of change we are currently experiencing, can you honestly say you'd be happy for your children/grandchildren to grow up here?

There is a genuinely worthwhile debate to be had over immigration - the issue is a complex one with pros and cons from both sides. However you seem to happily rant using half baked facts and myths dreamt up by UKIP and BNP that doubt it would be a constructive one with you - so i'll decline thanks. As someone said recently 'you can't reason with people beyond reason'!

  8. Yes, I blanched when I saw Dar was one of the umpires for the big one. He certainly has a thing against Australia.

His decision to remove a run from Australia and Oz, while within the rules, was ridiculous in execution!! Clarke only ran about three strides on the pitch from his normal batting position, the same as every other batsman to play the game. But Dar deemed it to be deliberate, attempted damage to the pitch. Apparently he expects the batsman to leap sideways off the pitch before starting a run!

Clarke's exaggerated run towards square leg on his next run nicely took the piss out of the idiot decision.

LOL - such paranoid rants by Pakistan fans about D Hair seem to have generated copycat behavior!

Mitty, where you bin? Seven weeks of World Cup cricket and not a peep from you! A bit late to try and take the piss from the victors now! :o

missed almost the entire thing. In Korea and the timings dont start till 10pm - also only access was through a not very sharp dodgy internet streaming site. By all accounts the WC seemed to be a disaster from start to finish - a real shame as i was hoping in would reinvigorate Windies cricket! and yes Australia are so far ahead that its making the game dull!

  10. Hi scousemouse and mitteheimp

Sorry, it didn't come out very well. A certain standard of English is required for ILR.

    mitteheimp

It's fair that people from one part of the world have to demonstrate a reasonable level of English, a certain knowledge of 'life in the UK' and a commitment to live there permanently when another section can just walk in unopposed?

More cctv than anyother country in the world, tax em til they bleed Brown, ID cards possibly going to be forced on us, the prospect of vastly increased fly tipping and your rubbish piling up next to your microchipped bin, the list is endless. Yeah, a good place tp live :o

well that must be new then as my wife only had to demonstrate English ability when applying for Citizenship.

I somewhat agree that European nations shouldnt necessarily have an advantage over others - particulrly commenwealth countries which the UK has more of a historical link too. But that is the EU agreement, so its a difficult issue to reconcile.

  11. Tragic. RIP.

Treat him like the criminal he is. Execution or life imprisonment without possibility of parole.

All the rest re drugs, parents, mental illness, etc. is just talk and only opens the door for lawyers and ill-advised do-gooders to get him off. And, gosh, there might actually be some small deterrent effect if all criminals could count on the maximum if they get caught.

The Sad fact is he will be given 3 meals a day, TV, DVD Computer games etc, access to education, exercise facilities AND in the not too distant future, day trips to Chester and Alton Towers, etc

F**&*(g English Judicial System is a joke)

yep it is - we have the highest percentage of prisoners in western Europe!

  12. It is widely acknowleged now that the cannibis smoked in the UK today is several times - even 10 times - stronger than what was available 20 years ago. The number of people being admitted for psychiatric help who use cannabis has also dramitically increased in the last decade. The independent newspaper which for a long time ran a campaign of decriminalsiing the drug have now reversed their stance on the back of new evidence.

  14. Considering Leeds is the biggest city in England with only one football team - the attendences at Ellend road have been very poor! I have nothing against Leeds generally but I don't like Dennis Wise or Ken Bates so i am not remotely upset - besides the mighty Imps could yet be playing them in League 1 next year (but i wont hold my breath)!

  15. I really doubt if UK could top USA for "nit-picking" idiotic crap. They often have no sense what is appropriate & not. Some case of a primary school students (6ys) taken away in handcuffs. Another student charged with a "hate crime" recently from leaving a ham sandwich (in a bag) next to a Moslem student. The list goes on & on, yet they seemed powerless to curb the wacko student in Virginia Tech, when warning signs were aparently evident to teachers, staff, & family for a long time.

    :o

Whats the latest regarding that Muslim teacher in the UK told to remove her Hijab when teaching her class and she refused, it was all going to court...

I love reading threads like this, they always quash any desires I get to return

She was sacked - and the decision was upheld by local council.

There are crazy stories in all countries mind - UK is no worse!

  16. im not sure any English is required for a settlement visa as this is arranged in the British embassy in another country - unless its changed recently. To get British citizenship everybody needs to do a citizenship test - doing the test also proves a decent level of English competency. If the persons English is not good enough for a test then they have to show a willingness to learn English by enrolling on a TESOL course and improving by one level. All seems fair enough to me.

  17. i remember my mother in law in England - she came over to our wedding - and at a polite family meal her being asked if she likes London - "no, too many Black and Indian people - i don't like them' came the reply. An uncomfortable silence by everyone - and a look of pure astonishment and embarrassment from my wife. Her mother had absolutely no idea what she said might be controversial! She has probably never met an Indian or Black person in her life! I dont think Thailand is any more racist than most Asian countries though. Korea for example, takes the nationalist superiority and hatred of certain nations and races to a much higher level.

So, countries that have a genuine multicultural history and a decent level of education tend to be the least racist - no surprise there. Racism is borne of ignorance!
