    1) Many Thais and Thai scholars have been researching "this" topic for decades. 2) Dr Chambers has been in Thailand since 1993; his Thai wife is a Faculty Dean at his university. 3) Dr Chambers and similar scholars have been very careful in what they publicly communicate in order to avoid "conflict" with the authorities.

    Agreed Biggsy ... and ISEAS Singapore have admitted their mistake, but this is Thailand. Unfortunately, there appears to have been an upturn in of un/mis-imformed posts here ... one just has to look at the various Thai tax fora on AN. Regretfully, the Trump Virus has spread to AN.

    If Thailand is not safe, then why come? Thailand seems "full" of Chinese criminals - just see today's report of 2 Chinese nationals stealing from fellow passengers on a flight from Macau. Then there are all the Chinese scam and kidnapping gangs in Thailand, which have received wide publicity in the Chinese media. Make Thailand Again for Tourists - but that is a pipe dream with law non-enforcement in Thailand.

    I note that this case is getting some "unwanted" international coverage, especially in the USA where Thailand is already not the flavour of the year.

    Bangkok not in the top 10? With what Trump is doing to the USA, maybe some of the British wealthy will move there.

    Really. And with thousands of US scientists now looking overseas for employment, the USA will sink further behind. I wonder how many of these scientists will end up working in China. Thank you Donald.

    Seems that Trump has just started World War III - it may not be a military war (yet!), but it is certainly an economic war. The USA, Israel and Russia against the rest.

    At a time when China is expanding its soft power programme to increase its global influence, the wise thing for Emperor Xi to do would be to extend apologies and promise to improve the standards of Chinese companies operating overseas. The reported response above only helps explain why China's reputation is declining globally and anti-China sentiments are expanding.

    Support whom and what? Will you do anything to punish the Chinese-owned and controlled business involved? Have you been on the phone to speak to your friend Emperor Xi about this "problem"?

    Chinese business, again, again, again. How much money has the Chinese Communist Party's enterprises been paying Thai officials to turn a blind eye? Slowly selling Thailand to Chinese interests - why are the Thai ultra-nationalists NOT complaining (could they be Chinese assets?)?

    Amazing how all the contracts for these government projects went to Chinese companies. Nice to see the Thai (Chinese-controlled?) government supporting Thai companies.

    Putin has been "silently" attacking Europe for several years - cyber attacks, destruction of critical infrastructure, etc. All part of Putin's plan to control all of Europe, mirroring Xi's plans for Asia.

    One can only hope that Trump looses again, and he and his cronies end up in prison for treason.

    Months - enough time for the public to "forget" and for the Chinese to make a small gift to the investigators.

    At least Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has apologised. Have the two main companies involved in the construction done anything? Have any Thai government ministries/departments involved in this project done anything? Have any Thai government politicians apologised?
