The only recent set of politicians who would make a good PM have all been banned from politics for a decade. The only recent political parties which have had significant popular support and were not in politics for "feeding time" at the trough have also been banned. Too many recent (last decade or so) Thai politicians would change political parties at the drop of a hat if it meant they would get more "benefits"; others would sell their souls (or even families) in order to remain in power. Too many ministerial level politicians have zero or next to zero expertise in the Ministries they have control over - why? Maintain the status quo; change will be too disruptive for the powerful "business" families.
