That would require some common sense, wouldn't it?

Exactly. Why talk to US about a plane made in France (and bits and pieces of it all over Europe)... or is this about technology export controls when selling to a military? If latter, why not just get TG buy one, and have military loan it?

I disagree

Doesn't look good for Anutin's goal of becoming next Prime Minister. If only stoned farang could vote, he might have a better chance!

Depending on the time of your travel, train may be a lot faster, but also a lot more crowded. Airport Link to Phyathai (easy, first to last station, 30 minutes), through the bridge to BTS Phyathai and up on escalator/lift, switch trains at Silom by just going from one track to another opposite it, and down to Saphan Thaksin. Here you don't have down escalator or lift from my memory but sets of stairs. When down, you're basically at a stone throw away from Shangri La entrance, less than an hour after you left airport (30 minutes airport link, 17 minutes on BTS plus waiting times for trains and walking). Taking taxi during rush hours could take considerably longer. For costs I don't know now that they adjusted meters, but I'd expect about 400 baht including airport hire fees. Train would cost 45 baht for Airport link and 47 baht for BTS.

CD Collection For Sale or For Use As Loan Guarantee
tomazbodner replied to maisodni's topic in Bangkok
Was considering, but after seeing attached file has exactly the same list of 20 that are already in the original post, I've changed my mind. I have them on AppleMusic, it's just nicer to have physical CDs, even I never listen to them. Anyway - I'll pass. -

What you will do if it will happens to you??

I would have pulled out Agoda, check for hotels by the airport link line, book hotel last minute, go there, then proceed to demand the deposit back and stop making accommodation bookings via chats with strangers. There are much more reliable options to book a place, you know! Imagine you got picked up by some serial killer and disposed of on the way to accommodation. So it could have been a lot worse. Take it as a lesson and move on. -

Wedding Savings Stolen
tomazbodner replied to The Fugitive's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
It would of course be interesting to know how the account was accessed to transfer out the funds. I have several accounts but those for which I have mobile apps, I only transfer any money into them when bills need to be paid, else there's really nothing in them. The accounts that do have money in, require OTP to login, add any additional accounts, make any transfers, account changes, and have a daily and transaction limits set. I have no mobile app for those. I was surprised when dealing with one of the banks (for unrelated issue) a few weeks back, when I got asked just before the end of the call, unexpectedly, whether I have requested my ATM card PIN change a few weeks ago. I've never used that ATM card. I now make sure that account has less than 100 baht in it, except when making transfer, which is limited to funds in and out within 3-5 minutes. Sadly, many people have no awareness of threats they are exposed to, especially on outdated mobile phones with side loaded applications, and computers accessing questionable websites, loaded with cracked applications installed from torrents. With convenience demanded by users, there's a limit to what banks can do to. But most people think this can't happen to them, until it does. -

If police can't help one of their own, what's the hope for the rest of the population... As for posting bank name... twice... beware Thailand's strict defamation laws. -

Water purification machines, do you trust them?
tomazbodner replied to Don Chance's topic in General Topics
Yes, I had to go back to edit it also... UF otherwise stands for Ultra Filtration. Unlike RO, it doesn't require power (except when you have UV lamp inside) and doesn't have brine drain. So it keeps minerals in the water but only removes harmful substances. Or so marketing material says. -
Why not find rent-a-car that offers economy cars, and see if they have Yaris... Then rent it for a day or 2 and give it a go. Costs a few k baht but at least you could do it properly on your own terms.

Water purification machines, do you trust them?
tomazbodner replied to Don Chance's topic in General Topics
Don't trust them. Used to have water delivered, 10-20 packs of 6x1.5l, but when realising the amount of plastic waste I was generating, I went out and bought water purifier. It was UF type, and water tasted and looked OK, it had UV light inside and all, but I was always nervous about using it, as the TDI meter didn't show much if any difference between tap water and what came out of it. A few months back there was Coway stand downstairs, and they had promotion on RO box with heater and cooler, like a hot/cold/ambient water dispenser, so I subscribed. 690 baht/month, a lady comes once every 2 months to clean it, and every other time she replaces all the filters. The box she has with her does full water analysis and shows what it finds in it on that big screen. I've also tested water myself and TDI numbers are very low. As such, I'm quite happy and a lot more confident using this filter than I was the previous 5 step + UV UF filter, or any public water purifier. And I don't use plastic pollution I used to.
