You can buy low rider seats from most motorbike accessories shops. 

Lower, but probably not as comfy. 

I don't think that you need to replace the soffit... 

You could just cut and fit some aloy vents in them. 

They come with anti insect mesh. 

The one thing I noticed from your pics, is that it looks like your ridge tiles have been cemented into place. 

I think that is the problem. 

If you take them off, and put back, or replace without cement, but with a rubber membrane, your roof should be able to breathe properly. 

That, and some new insulation should do the trick IMHO.

These restrictions are in place for a very good reason. 

My friend once had an Italian imported wooden floor in his house. 

He went away for 6 months, and on his return, discovered that termites had eaten his floor in the middle of his living room. 

It was layed onto a concrete floor. 

He found a local repair man, who took out all of the contamination, and patched it up with coconut, stained and varnished (chaindrite) and unitane. 

Looked good as new. 

Ive also seen it used by painters as a scaffolding, about 2m high.

People who already qualify from their old licence are still permitted, but any new applicants have to take a test to qualify. 

I wonder if anyone who holds a motorbike licence now will qualify? 

Saying that, there are one or two issues spring to mind. 

One is the people who like to "help" people get a licence will be very happy for the prospect of more tea money to share around the office.

And two, 

Apart from checkpoints, how will anyone know weather the rider is qualified or not? 

Im sure big bikes are way down the list of causes of accidents on the highways and byways of this wonderful country.

Unfortunately, this case shows exactly what's wrong with the legal system in this country, and in Thai society in general. 

Any place where a serious crime is committed by a person of importance, or their family member, any transient workers in that area need to be very worried.
