Tourism Tourism Shock: Thailand's Visitor Numbers See Alarming Plunge
vukovar77 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well, China is not collapsing. It is true, but everything is not "nice" and will become more difficult. Trump's tax policy will hurt China hard. My friend works for a US company based in China and told me recently that business has almost stopped. Chinese are clever people, and they spend less in tough times and tend to work more. -
Tourism Tourism Shock: Thailand's Visitor Numbers See Alarming Plunge

The Thai baht is too strong, immigration rules are annoying and change often, and new tax policies for foreigners, rising prices, very expensive healthcare, and double pricing are some of the reasons as well. Vietnam, Cambodia even China are cheaper now. Thailand is not tourist-friendly like it was before. -

Canadian Tourist's Warning: Assault and Theft in Pattaya Bars
vukovar77 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
I think that he made a grave mistake. He could read many articles and news about red-light bars. You need to avoid such a place for a more extended stay and avoid being intoxicated. After all, did he waste time with a legal procedure? I have no empathy for him. -
Very costly after 60 -65 years old. At this age, all of us have some pre-existing problems which they do not cover at all. I can easily resolve minor health problems in Thai state hospitals at an acceptable cost. So, for me, health insurance is just a big cost for almost nothing! For bigger problems, I need to fly to the EU!

Minimum required to live comfortably at a young retirement age

Yeah. For smaller health issues I can go to Thai government hospitals and pay a fraction I need to pay in private one.If you are over 65 it is almost impossible to have good insurance here . -
Minimum required to live comfortably at a young retirement age
vukovar77 replied to PomPolo's topic in General Topics
From my experience and point of view, 25-30.000 THB per month is quite enough if you live alone and have a place to live. Single accommodation can be easily found for 5-6000 THB per month. If you have a Thai spouse 40.000 per month is OK. In rural areas, the cost of living is 20-25.000 THB per month. Of course, this is without a car and very costly health insurance which is a luxury and not necessary. -
I ordered some things from TEMU, but they never came.

How much do you pay for health insurance?
vukovar77 replied to rudi49jr's topic in Insurance in Thailand
Insurance is so expensive in Thailand if you are over 65 that I decided not to do that in LOS.For smaller health problems I go to state hospitals (I can speak thai and my wife is thai) and it is not expensive. For a bigger problems I will go in my country in EU where I am fully covered . -

As of the most recent data, the average monthly salary for a worker in Cambodia is roughly between $150 and $200 USD. This figure can vary greatly depending on factors such as the sector of employment, level of experience, and geographical location within the country. Poverty is awful. Many disabled people all around. In the countryside you have no water supply and many parts are without electricity.So,"scouse123"you are familliar only in a few bars on river side of Phnom Phen. In Cambodia, 17.8% of the population lived below the national poverty line in 2019. In Cambodia, the proportion of employed population below $2.15 purchasing power parity a day in 2023 was 20.5%. For every 1,000 babies born in Cambodia in 2022, 24 died before their 5th birthday. Cambodia is maybe like LOS 70-80 years before.

Well.I do not know where and when you have been recently, but you do not know much about cambodia.I think you stay in "expat part" of Pnom-Phen near river bank? All other parts of this city is in very bad shape and shabby and dangerous on night time.Traffic is terrific and there is NO PUBLIC transportation at all-tuk tuk and motorcycles only). As I said infrastructure is very poor compared to LOS.I travel all around the Cambodia from Sihanukvile to Phnom Phen by bus and then to Siam Riap. This was adventure.Roads are terrific with many bumps and sometimes closed cos. water floods.Almost everyone try to rip you off from civil servants to ordinary people.Very few people can speak english.Acommodation is far more expensive in Cambodia and it is hard to find good place for good price.Visa policy is OK ,same as booze prices and ordinary girls are nice, but there is a Law there that expats older than 50 can not marry young cam. women.Real-estates are more expensive than in LOS and low quality in general.I love cambodia, but LOS is a far better to live in and Filipines as well.
