By raft and on foot, migrants cross Rio Grande from Mexico to Texas
Eric Loh replied to Scott's topic in World News
They are treated the same. Abbott cleared state authorities to return them after apprehended to the border. Not at all clear how the state law enforcement differentiate type of migrants. -

You forgotten some of Trump's best ideas like shoot migrant's legs and building alligator moat. Fools seldom differ on ridiculous ideas. -
This is the fourth time Prayut’s and his ministers has been put to a vote and the opposition did a good job to grill him for four days live on television. I think the opposition has no grand illusion that they can win. The opposition accusations live on TV and Prayut’s cringe worthy lack of substance rebuttal will further damaged his image and popularity with the general public ahead of the election. This was an attempt by the oppositions to discredit the ruling 17 party coalition before the next poll and they did an excellent job. Money and time well spent.

Trump ex-adviser Bannon convicted of contempt of U.S. Congress
Eric Loh replied to Scott's topic in World News
If the judge sentence him on consecutive charges, he may get 2 years maximum. Deserving justice for an evil man but out in 2 years is still a threat to democracy. He is only 68 and he will be even more diabolical in the destruction of democracy when he is out of the slammer. I hope that the DOJ has sufficient evidence to criminally charged him for Jan 6 insurrection. -
The outrage continued with the army spending more than 7 M Baht to hire the National Science and technology Development Agency to test the 700 GT200. Already fake but wait, the army still want to spend 7 M to determine whether they work. The devices were just 2 pieces of plastic glued together with an antenna attached and no internal mechanism or battery. Anyone can test with just a screwdriver without need to pay 10,000 baht a piece said Rangsiman of MF Party and he was so right.

Steve Bannon's defense seeks acquittal then rests case
Eric Loh replied to Scott's topic in World News
DailyBeast headline so apt. Steve Bannon promised "HELL"at trial, but Punked Out instead. Talked a big game outside the courtroon but inside the only words he uttered were "Yes, your honor". Just waiting for another Trump's loud mouth Peter Navarro to cry like a baby in his contempt of Congress case. -
Only in Thailand when someone admit that he is the sole coup maker and get away with it. This is a sickening mentality among some generals that staging a coup is their entitlement and they are doing the country a favour. Every coup is a body blow to the image of Thailand's political stability and economy. The generals are doing a hideous disservice to the country and ought to stand trial for illegal seizure of a legimate elected government.

Tourism Authority Targets 30 Million Tourists in 2023
Eric Loh replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Scratching my head why many here become overly upset and emotional over a "target". Every organisation has a target; that's prerequisite for planning. -
Many ethnic groups emigrated to Siam from native southeast Asia, Southern China and North East India. Government policies during the 1930s and 40s resulted in successful force assimilation of the many various ethno-liquistic groups in the country into the dominant Thai people, language and culture. Same as in Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines. You seem to take a historic shortcut to make your point.

We are living in the hottest period for 125,000 years
Eric Loh replied to webfact's topic in World News
Is this a serious question? Heard of studying ice cores to measure past temperatures. Just one of many methods. -
I think you are wrong. Constitutions have provisions on coups being illegal. In fact Supreme Court have in the past ruled that junta seizure of government by staging coup was illegal but was legimate when it can maintain the peace of the country without being resisted. Coups also went unpunished due to the protection afforded by the amnesty law after each coup.

Perhaps the importance of humidity here in tropical countries is that fire behavior decrease as grass and trees take moisture from the air when humidity is high. Much less forest fires than low humidity countries which render the fuels much more drier.

Man charged with raping Ohio girl, 10, who was denied abortion
Eric Loh replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
Are you suggesting that the republicans are shameless and lack conscience. Let’s see about that. DeWine, Yost, other Ohio Republicans and others hurt a traumatized child once by forcing her to flee the state in order to receive health care; then hurt her again by peddling propaganda erasing her; hurting her a third time by refusing to acknowledge and apologize for their actions. You are certainly spot on. -

Thailand for all the flaws still have majority rule. Can’t say the same for good old USA. Probably in the category of soft authoritarian. -
So, are BA.4 BA.5 sub-variants containable in Thailand?
Eric Loh replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I get your point and many among us are suffering from covid fatigue and had reached a breaking point with the deluge of information and masking reminders etc. Me too. I was infected with mild covid only recently but still the few days of fever, fatigue, sore throat and consistent coughing were uncomfortable. Put me off work and did my best to isolate myself not because I fear but to ensure those close to me will not get infected. The Omicron variant is mild according to data; thank god. I consider taking precautions like masking, distancing and vaccines mild precautions too. Didn’t inconvenience me at all and probably saved my life. Stay well and safe mate. -

Eric Loh replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There are always the recalcitrants that don’t care till they caught the virus. Then they reflect that they should heed those data or perhaps may be tad late.
