  1. I have always thought I had something other than money to offer a woman; something to make them want to be with me. I can't imagine the lack of self respect it must take to think the only reason a woman would be with you is if you pay her.

I believe using bar girls as potential girlfriends is naive at best. They have already expressed their lack of self respect by making their virtue negotiable. True, many, if not most, bar girls are from poor families and have few choices for a good life. Selling their marvelous product seems to be an easy way to achieve some semblance of success. They may even hit the farang jackpot; the continuous ATM.

I suggest looking elsewhere; for middle-class, upper middle-class, or even hi-so women. Of course, to capture one of these, you should be something better than the typical sexpat; bar-hopping and girl-swapping your way through life. Women from more well-off families have more to offer. They likely have educations, contacts and capabilities other than lying on their backs. I have always set my sights on good-looking, intelligent and capable women; I think I deserve that. Those types of women also may offer the added nicety that you are not be expected to support their families.

I am sure there will be those who scoff at the idea of getting a higher class of gf; I can only wince at their total lack of self-esteem. Are they really such losers that they can only get a communal receptacle to stay with them for money?

Really, I am very happy for you that you could achieve gloria in your life but I am disappointed that, from your bird view, the rest of the world seems shadowed under your wings.

17 years together with my Isaan girl and I am not a bar stool retired fat farang. I have my own business and indeed I support her financially and so indirectly her family and probably part of the economy of her lo-so village. So why does our relation last? With her I can calm down, relax, be myself and enjoy. We don’t discuss world politics nor history or science and I don’t need to, as I still have other friends for this. With her, it is the most simple and pure form of hapiness and love. She enjoys her status of having money and being able to help others. I don’t need a hi-so girl for status, people who want to ignore me for being with an Isaan girl I don’t mind, I don’t have to proof myself anymore to nobody. Love has more than one formula, yours is just one of the many and so,.. not better, not more special and not of higher value than any of our relations. Chew on that for a while..

  2. Never happened. And no surprise at the name of the one guy that gave you a like for something that never happened. Best I can tell is you are referring to a response to when you proclaimed a fishy, hard coded savings on grey market on a fishy retail price. I am not here to argue, but I have no tolerance for false information because readers should be allowed the privilege of getting correct information. Hey thanks for all the attention guys, but I'd love to talk more about BMWs and have a lot to share about them and also like to learn more about them.

Same here, I like the BMW technology, unfortunately in Thailand, the choice of models and engines is very limited. However I understood from the last autoshow in Impact that the new M5 will be available (import of course) same engine as the F10 M5 but 4 wheel drive. Small disadvantage, they estimated the price at 14mill Thb. So I will keep my F10 M5 for a couple of years more and I want to make the switch to Tesla which should be available in Thailand as well.

  3. Well, I would consider a BMW over a normal Mercedes. But then, if I take a look at the AMG C43 coupe for 4.1 mb. Just a nice car and the cheapest car around with the most HP.

True, but if I remember correctly with the old interior.. The problem with Mercedes and BMW, although they have very nice cars, the engine choice is very limited and many are offered only diesel. Who wants an X6 with a diesel engine?

  4. I’ve had the meter refused once as I mentioned in my original post and one time the driver didn’t want to go where I wanted.  It was terrible.  I had to wait at least another 60 seconds for another cab.  I just don’t understand how so many posters have such extreme bad luck with taxi drivers here in Bangkok.

Could it be that sometimes, I just use common sense, and if I am going to (or coming from) a touristy area such as Siam Paragon or whatever other mall along Sukhumvit that I feel like seeing a movie at or getting a bite to eat, that I realize that it might be better to use the BTS?  Sure, I have to walk a couple hundred meters to the BTS station and yes, I will sweat a little more but I seem to have no problem finding alternative modes of transportation (including walking) to avoid those location dependent situations with the taxi “crooks”.

Perhaps, after the complainers have finished their business on whatever soi they were most recently “serviced”, they should consider the kind of area that they are in and what kind of taxi drivers are waiting to screw them (a second time) and then find their way to a local BTS station.  Or are they too embarrassed when all eyes are on them as they get on the BTS at Nana?

Which one of the Avengers are you?

  5. The majority of taxi drivers?  Wow...bad luck must follow you.  Have you ever paused and wondered why?

Ok majority of taxi drivers I experienced. Sorry for this statistical error.
Yes it is possible my personal negative opinion is related to my character. That’s why it is a personal (bold) impression which is maybe not reflecting yours. On the other hand, taxi drivers who pass my criteria are very well tipped.

  6. I think the issue is that this is Thaivisa, populated in the main by people who take great delight in whinging about and denigrating Thailand and Thais.  Any opportunity they'll stick their ignorant and arrogant boots in anywhere it is not necessarily deserved.

I assure you this is not the case, I gave my honest opinion which is in this case not favorable for the majority of taxi drivers. This doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate Thailand and Thai people in general, on the contrary! In fact I consider your message rather negative and meaningless...I live and work in Thailand for the last 20y so my experience about taxis is not a one time occurance.
About Grab, same taxis, just extra “Grab” sticker and what makes it unpractical is that after the trip is confirmed, they always call for the same information.

  7. I live in Bangkok and I take a few times per week a taxi to Don Mueang and back.
As Rhijs mentioned it is indeed luck of draw. The taxi meter is mostly not the problem but nearly every time I fear for my life, most of them drive like crazy, totally irresponsible and this with very poorly maintained cars. And yes I have 20y experience driving a car in Thailand, the reason I take taxi is because there is no parking space available at Don Mueang. So to answer the question, mabe it is not worse than ever but for sure no improvement.

  8. First the age, I am 61 and she is 39. We are 17y together. The reason why the age difference has to be high is because the difference in % becomes smaller over time!

No children because she wants a twin and at my age I cannot perform twice within 15’.

For the “etc..” : I have mood swings so watch out!

  9. It’s an attitude originating from the geographical location. Enough rain, no winters and plenty of food and a slow pace because of the heat. So money was never an issue, not important. But western influence made them want luxury, house, car, clothes etc..
So their hunger for money grows and to keep up they need paid jobs but instead many bury themselves with heavy debts.
