  1. Any exchange of money negates social and sexual pair bonding. What does that leave? Prostitution?

If tomorrow there would be no " sexual pair bonding" between me and my GF, I would still pay her the same monthly amount. I give her money because I want her to feel better, more independent and provide means to help her family. I don't ask nor expect my GF to be greatful, I give because it is for me the right thing to do. If all comes to an end tomorrow I will be sad for the loss of a girlFRIEND, not for the loss of the money. Some think true love can only be achieved if you can stay together without any financial support. What does that leave? Domination?
  2. In spite of all the TV whiners Air Asia has overall done a fantastic job of bringing cheap air travel to the masses who otherwise would all still be riding the bus.

Seems a lot of farangs can't grasp the concept of paying extra for anything above and beyond getting from point a to point b. If you want seat assignments, meals, baggage, insurance, no change or cancel fees then Air Asia is clearly the wrong airline for you.

If all you want is to get from A to B usually in an hour or so it is very difficult to find better options than the low cost airlines from DMK.

Some seem to have forgotten or don't know how expensive short flight travel was in Thailand when Thai airways was essentially the only choice.

"If you want seat assignments, meals, baggage, insurance, no change or cancel fees then Air Asia is clearly the wrong airline for you."

Excuse me, all the above is possible with Air Asia but you have to pay extra. But at least you get the choice.

  3. Multi skilled , multi money , multi friends in high places,

Yes, but, It is not enough to win a ski race

Times are , the winner 2.36

    the top ten 2.39

    the top 50 2.55

Mae @ 3.26 last place , she can ski no doubt , just not to an accepted standard where by she would have qualified to represent a different flag at the games, would she have made any other team

Correction, last place of the participants who could make it to the finish line.
  4. Nana and lower Suk has the most interesting stretch of sidewalk in the world. I head down there every night to sit back with a beer and watch the festivities.

Farangs, young and old, modish young folk without a care in the world, older ones who have seen in it all but aren't quite ready to call it a life yet, Arab men in dishdishas, their women in hijabs trailing behind scrutinizing intently roadside stalls ready to pounce on the littlest trinket that catches their eye, oriental men, Japanese, Korean and now maybe the Chinese, walking always with a purpose and very polite if they bump into someone, shady African men pushing powder and some gorgeous women from the dark continent, Indians, always more than one, noisy, cheap and happy, and, of course, Thais of all three sexes.

And, the people who graze late night on Suk, call them what you will, are always interesting to clink glasses with. Even the losers are because they have a twisting tale to tell of what done them in and how they're going to conquer the world again. And maybe they will - if they're on Suk at 2 in the morning they're halfway back to the top again, aren't they?

If you don't like Nana then, my friend, I hope you are surrounded by your children and grandchildren and their wives and kids as you breathe your last in a little cottage in a lonely village far far away.

I totally agree and clearly writing talent!
  5. And what exactly is you contribution to this " young fella"? I gave advice based on 17 years of working experience in Thailand. Of course everything is possible but in such situations it is IMO better to give realistic advice. To end on a positive note, you clearly have writing talent smile.png

    My advice was fairly realistic

There are lots of jobs on Craigslist that involve working online from the comfort of your home in BKK. Stuff like article writing, freelance letting agent etc

Where is the work permit coming from?
  6. If I was the OP, I'd wing it.

Why take the advice of a bunch of sour old wheezers who've crawled off a plane at Suvarnabhumi at 60+ with gout, a trick hip and a prostate the size of a beachball?

Enjoy what Thailand has to offer with your faculties intact, not worrying that a heavy night on the lash trying to keep up with your 25 year old hotty in the sack will have you laid out on a gurney being wheeled into a government hospital.

He could do that while doing some kind of distance learning.

    Forget teaching - that's bullshit.

More rubbish from you 're stirring the pot about elderly folk here. We didn't all come of plane broken men as you describe. I encourage younger people to give it a go here.

Your so bitter about the retired people here. Common thread in all your posts.

    Whatever, mate

I've no bitterness towards retired people.

I just don't like the more condescending members of the demographic talking down to a young fella that just wants a little advice.

The fact is, their way - 40 years of graft with a motivational picture of a beer bar and a skank dangled in front of their noses a la stick & carrot - AIN'T the only way and, 6 times outta 10, these paragons of common sense cock it up over here anyway.

  7. I think your expectations and assumptions are not realistic. It is extremely difficult to get a work permit. Basically the employer has to convince the Thai authorities that the job in question can't be executed by a Thai person. If you have the money and you really want to stay in Thailand the only option is Elite membership. Expensive but no hastle. You can even get one for 20y together with the purchase of a condo.

  8. The rubber industry needs a true professional.

What he should know and what training he should have?

    - Good would be a true marketing professional who knows his way around the world in all rubber products and in all markets.

    - On the sales side, he should have as much contacts as possible with rubber processing companies worldwide.

    - Also on the commodity futures exchanges, he should have a good understanding, because rubber is often traded on futures.

    - A doctoral degree in chemical process engineering with a focus on rubber would be ideal.

The knowledge of production and application questions is very important for rubber products.

    - Fluent English, analytical skills and the safe handling of IT are mandatory requirements.

I did not know, that some of Thailand's generals are so specially trained.

How will this increase the demand?
  9. Tds meters do drift especially if hey are cheap (expect to pay around 4000-5000 baht for a reasonable one ) and require recalibrating ,it should have a small adjusting screw on the side you do need a control solution to this.

Don't forget there are salts of varying sorts sulphates, sulphides from the pool chemicals we use i.e. soda ash , acids etc etc.

These over a period of time could add as much as 1500 ppm to your readings.

Still we are not into nuclear physics , so in real terms ,should not matter to much in the short term, but something to keep an eye on .

If you scroll back, you will find salinity meters posted by me. You can have them in different ranges. For the purpose of the OP I suggest range 0 to 10%. Indeed these have a small screw on the bottom, for home use best to put tap water on the lens and check if reading gives zero. If not adjust with screw.
