  1. Would be interesting to know which (as yet unnamed) fat cat is behind Laem Nga Development Co Ltd. and why they felt the need or desire to close the public road not only in the first instance but again after the initial "talks."

Unless of course the company was sold land with a dodgy deed. Which begs the question, "Why didn't they have their legal team conduct due diligence?" A quick trip to the local land dept. would have sorted things.

  2. "The duration of the training course has been set as 30 day maximum or it can last just one hour depending on the trainees whether he/she understand the course or not, said Gen Prawit, adding that only those who are critical of the government or the junta will be sent for attitude adjustment."

Well, that pretty much sums it up in nutshell. Dissent and discourse will not be tolerated for the foreseeable future.

Any so-called elected govt will come from a select group of hand-picked candidates that are guaranteed to support the agenda(s) of the powers behind the scenes that hold no public office and are far from public view or scrutiny.

While elections will make great window dressing, it will be a deMOCKracy. A faux representaive govt that is simply a showpiece to keep up appearances.

  3. Damn scary. But not surprising. Will be interesting to see how many of the "dark and influential" figures are actually political opponents. Once they are out of the way then onto those pesky students and academics. Then it will be time to go after anyone who dares offer an opinion that differs from the state sanctioned propaganda.

Expect things to get worse as the Kingdom gets nearer to the event.

  4. They do not deal in palladium, but try the Vancouver Bullion and Currency Exchange (www.vbce.ca). They deal in gold, silver and platinum. They also deliver the actual coins/bars internationally. They do not deal in certificates.

They also offer competitive fx rates (typically better than the chartered Cdn banks), so you can buy your bullion with almost any major currency without having to change to CAD (they will calculate the price of the bullion in your chosen currency).

Hope that info is helpful. Good luck with your investments.

DO NOT ship any bullion either legal tender coins or bars to Thailand, as Thai customs will demand heavy duty on it even when they are not meant to. They held 500 oz of my silver hostage for 3 days and it took me threatening to have the Bank of Thailand get involved before they released it to us. This, after we had high value import specialist from Brinks and G4S verify with them that no duty or tax would be charged on legal tender coins. They said one thing, then did the opposite once they had the shipment. They are the most corrupt organization in Thailand, and no high profile law firms in BKK even wanted to touch the case. You have been warned....

    Excellent info! Thanks.

  5. RIP my poor fellow citizen sad.png

    Adieu

Happens all the time. Pop into the shop can't be bothered going back home then the young man just dies - you couldn't make these stories up !!!!

From previous reports, he had some issues with his leg(?). Those reports hint of decompression sickness. Possible he was disoriented after his last dive in Indonesia (which I believe was where he had been). Please correct me if I am wrong. In any case, RIP. Condolences to loved ones.

  7. "Blame it on the rain..."

Roads do get slippery, but driving to conditions is not taught at all in Thailand. Also possible that the bus had old/bald rubber.

Looks like the same co. involved in a crash a week or two ago where they vowed they would scold he driver responsible for killing his passengers. There have been so many bus wrecks lately, I can not recall which one.

The old article you refer to mentioned Nakon Chai Air, NCA, but for some reason they had translated wrongly from Thai to English. The correct name in the old article was Nakon Chai Tour.

    Ok. Thx for the correction/clarification.

  9. why did this guy not stand up to the photographer and insist on wearing a respectible long sleeve or clean pressed short sleeve shirt?

was it a need to 'fit in' somehow? be thai? to be like lower class rural thais who sit around drinking shirtless?

he may want to wear a shirt do at the wedding meethinks

pretty much sums it up in a nutshell for any country at an important occassion, unless your going tribal

And what class do you come from? Surely at Eton and Cambridge you were taught how to spell words like "respectible" (sic) and write proper sentences in your mother tongue, "meethinks."

Sadly, "meethinks" that an Isaan buffalo has more class than your Lordship.

  10. With all the negative comments on here about this couple (that likely no one knows), makes me want to hide my wedding pics. You all have to see the ugly #$*& that the beautiful Mrs. Shock married (poor lass). But we are still happy after 16 years. And that's all that matters. Can't anyone be happy for each other anymore? Or is it easier making disparaging comments about people that you don't know and have a chance at happiness than facing up to your own shallowness?

As another poster commented, the glass is half full or...

  11. "The live-fire training will focus on offensive tactics and supportive operations both by land and air. The 1 week session will seek to ready for the forces to carry out national security operations as ordered by the government and precedes further training in April and May of this year."

Talk about going overboard. I thought LM 112, Art. 44, the single internet gateway, censuring the freedom of the press, suppressing social media and harrassing academics and students already took care of national security and returning happiness to the people.

  12. So this level 3 alert at Don Mueang today on the baggage xray screening does not apply to the young thai woman operator who was manning the xray screen...totally NOT watching the screen but instead playing Candy Crush on her phone..!!! I observed her for a full 10 minutes meanwhile dozens of bags passed through the xray machine....there were 3 staff on the xray machine...one loading the bags at the front end...one staff member at the rear recovering the plastic trays...and "Miss Candy Crush"...Level 3 my arse. !!

Did you check her phone? She may have already surpassed Level 3. Oh wait! You were talking about the security alert. Sorry.

  13. As long they love each other and they are happy, who cares about her former work and his age? Most people spend a lifetime finding neither love nor happiness. Live and let live.

As for Harold's choice, maybe he married her DESPITE being a porn star instead of BECAUSE of it. And perhaps it was because of this that she felt she had met a man that truly respected her. Who knows?

My experience has been that those that are quick to judge others are either jealous or hiding some deep insecurity about themselves.

    Party on!
