Suvarnabhumi immigration when with Thai spouse
sandyf replied to Wiggy's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I went back Aug 21 into Heathrow and fortunately alone. The E gates were still out of use from the pandemic and the queue was unbelievable. I had allowed a couple of hours to get the coach but after about an hour I was only about a third of the way down the queue, looked like I would be catching the next one. Fortunately as I was on a U bend of the snake on the E gate side they took the decision to open up the E gates and a lady opened the barrier right next to me. I was straight over and first through. Bags were waiting and got to the coach with time for a coffee. Good luck when you go. -
You need to be consistant in what you say, you were saying there was a problem with the desktop and now that the problem is with the phone. Your google data is backed up to the cloud and when you bought the new phone they would have downloaded the data but in order to do that the new phone would have to be signed in. There would be no need for a new password but there would have been a security check being a new device. "I used it fine till about a week ago and tried to sign in to my gmail account and that's when things started to go haywire." You do not sign into gmail. Gmail is a service available under the Google account umbrella and it is quite important to understand the concept and how it is applied across multiple devices. What may have happened is effectively speculation and supposition so you are left with trying to follow the recovery procedures or getting in touch with google. https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/7682439?hl=en

Not sure what you mean about adding something. You said you didn't know your password and I just pointed you towards passport recovery. As far as your email is concerned it appears to me that it is a question of getting things set to work as you want, effectively have your desktop signed into your Google account permanently. You have never said how you access gmail on the desktop, browser? There was no problem on the laptop as that had chrome running so you were signed into google on that device and the gmail client would have opened straight away. You have a couple of options, you could have Chrome installed on the desktop in the background with Opera. I have 2 browsers Chrome and Microsoft Edge, very seldom use Edge only when I want to change something on my hotmail emails. Another option is to use the mail app that comes with Windows, you may well be using it already if you also have a microsoft email. The app can handle multiple emails and a very usefull tool, I have 6 email accounts on mine, 2 x Microsoft and 4 x Google. The only slight downside is you cannot adjust any email account settings from the app, that has to be done at the client. This would be your laptop for gmail, and why I have Edge installed for Microsoft. https://www.intowindows.com/how-to-add-gmail-to-windows-10-mail/

What exactly are you trying to say. You said your computer crashed, that in itself wouldn't make the google account irrecoverable, subsequent security checks may be a bit challenging. A few years back I had someone steal a microsoft email account. That is a different ball game and quite complicated, took nearly 5 weeks but got it back. Always pays to hold on to the details.

Suvarnabhumi immigration when with Thai spouse

Gatwick per chance? There is a guy on the lanes there that is married to a Thai. End of May he asked us if we needed to go the desk and did the same, had a quick chat with him. Saw him again a couple of weeks later when we came back into the UK, waved us over and straight to a desk. Great service but unfortunately they are not all as helpful. -

No need to have PR if over 70, can also use fast track on departure. -
If you look on a device that is signed into google you will see in the top right hand corner your profile icon. If you click on that a box will open and you will see a box with "Manage your Google Account" Click on that and scroll right down to the bottom and select "help options". A window will open with instructions on how to deal with various problems, password recovery being one of them.

Of course you can, but you need to know the account login details.

Good tangent. You said nobody had mentioned carbon steel which was incorrect as I had mentioned cast AND enamel, historically enamel pans have been carbon steel. Aluminium didn't come into it as I had already stated ferritic material.

Google is a bit like a sports centre, once you have signed in you can use any facility in the building. Your gmail is just one facility of your google account, gmail is not on your phone, just that you can access it easily from your phone as phones are normally permanently signed in to the google account. You need to be signed in on the phone to use Play Store, another google facility. Someone mentioned 2 step verification but that shouldn't be a problem. I have that on and can access gmail from multiple devices without a problem. I suspect you are signing out from the google account on another device and this is triggerering the password check when you change device. The password belongs to the google account, not gmail, that is an open door once signed into google. If you have google signed in on one device, your phone, it ought to be signed in on other devices you intend to use. I leave all devices permanently signed in, I also have multiple gmails and they are always signed in and can read them on any device without a problem. The only time I get a security check is sometimes when I use the gmails in a different country.

They have, enamel cooking pans would be carbon steel.

Induction cookers work by agitating the molecules in the material and the friction makes the material hot with the heat being transferred to the food. Best material is steel based usually cast, enamel coated or ferritic stainless steel. The 1300W is the max power the appliance will use and average power would depend on the energy regulator setting. The temperature achieved would depend on several factors, the energy regulator being the most significant, material, pan construction and amount of food would also come into play. As far as non stick coating is concerned, that can be destroyed by inappropriate utensils or more usually, overheating. It should be borne in mind that appliances controlled by an energy regulator will always achieve max temperature, it is the time at max temperature that is controlled. This is a bit different to the thermostatic control normally seen in an oven.

Broken suitcase wheel may have caused Don Mueang moving walkway incident

One day the xenophobes on this forum will realise you cannot get western standards from the Thai GDP. It should also be borne in mind that Thailand has not had the luxury of a protracted learning curve like the west, about 130 years in the US. "The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) estimates an average of 6,000 people per year are injured on escalators. However, one of few studies on the topic gives a higher total. Published in the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Library of Medicine, the study notes that 10,000 escalator-related injuries per year require emergency care in the United States." https://www.penneylawyers.com/elevator-and-escalator-accidents/10-interesting-facts-about-escalator-accidents/#:~:text=10%2C000 injuries require emergency care every year&text=Published in the National Institutes, care in the United States. -

Obviously your approach would be to test all components to destruction before fitting them. In the real world quality control is based on the laws of probability. -

Don Mueang airport’s escalator accident not caused by poor maintenance
sandyf replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Of course it does. If people are looking at who they are talking to, they cannot be looking elswhere. They are oblivious to what is happening around them and expect others to take avoiding action and move out of their way. Those suffering from smartphone addiction should be in segregated areas like smokers, after all they are a danger to public health. -
It is a bit hit and miss with the tanks. I have a mitsu 105 model and had to replace the tank on that after about 18 months. My sister in law not long ago had to replace the tank on her mitsu 255 model, I have been here 15 years and the pump has been there longer than that. I also have a Hitachi 150 model thats 13 years old and only 2 weeks ago that started to short cycle due to a pin hole in the tank. I replaced that with a new Hitachi constant pressure pump 250 model, no tank to worry about in the future. Got that discounted down to 6690 baht from the new MegaHome store. If you are in need of a replacement SS tank, best to shop around the local pump repair shops. My SiL was about 1800 baht for a tank and to have it fittted. I was 1000 baht but that was smaller and some years ago.

Bit of an outdated thread, the new rolling stock was introduced at the end of 2016. A major improvement in second class but for first class I preferred the ex Japanese stock with only the one bed per cabin. We used to book early and get adjoining cabins, with the doors open it was like a twin bedded hotel room. No upper deck so to speak. -

Going about oblivious to what is happening around you makes you a danger to yourself and others. However it is not surprising the default assumption on this forum is that it is all down to how the Thais do things, no investigation required. -
You are being told garbage by VFS, not uncommon, I suspect they may be getting mixed up between general applicant and family member. You have a couple of options. You can challenge VFS and say you will report them to the Austrian Embassy. I did that once and they changed tune in a flash. You could ask them to quote the section in the handbook that restricts entry to the EU for family members by air. https://home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/system/files/2020-06/visa_code_handbook_consolidated_en.pdf You can make the application in the UK. it is preferable for a third country national to make the application in their own country but is not cast in stone. You need to have a fairly good reason why it was not done in Thailand. A friend of mine took his wife to Holland for the weekend on the boat. Did it in London and said it was a last minute discounted offer, not a problem. Good luck.
