No, last month bill, 19th, was 1845.22, this month 2369.22. In April 2021 the bill was 2333.97 about the same as this month and in June 2021 it was 2411.62. Bearing in mind the rise in unit cost, 2021 may have been warmer than now.

Thai Spouse travel history/convictions and UK Visas
sandyf replied to MicroB's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Quite. The UK used to insist on seeing all previous passports, item 11 on the form, so it is something I have always done. If they no longer insist on seeing them it would mean they have some other way of doing it. -
Thai Spouse travel history/convictions and UK Visas

Almost certainly and personally I think little chance of success in current circumstances. I would suggest getting married, wait a couple of years and the application would have a better chance of success. -
Thailand Reports World's First Death From New Covid Variant Arcturus
sandyf replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Quite. I saw this on BBC news a few days ago, thought the forum would be red hot the following morning. Storm in a teacup comes to mind. -
Your comfort zone wouldn't be the norm. Of course a low humidity makes it feel cooler, the sweat can evaporate into the atmosphere and in doing so draws heat from the body. Years ago they put wet sackcloth over firkins of ale to keep the temperature down. That wouldn't work in a high humidity as by definition the atmosphere is already laden with water and cannot accept any more, the wet sackcloth would just get warm. If the temperature rises above 38 degrees in 100% humidity it becomes life threatening as there is no longer any mechanism to keep the blood temperature under control. BTW. I was stationed at Sharjah for a year in 1970 when aircon was the exception rather than the rule. Take it from me the aircraft parked on the hardstandings got quite warm, 5 minutes inside the fuselage and you could wring your shorts out.

I have had "Non-RE" written on all entry stamps, air and land, since they changed the shape of the stamp, other than last Aug when I came back on a new visa and that is just marked "Non-O" with "E-Visa" written below the stamp. When the stamp was rectangular it was usually "Non-O", but sometimes followed by an "M".

Averages for Thailand are exactly that. In the 15 years I have lived here I don't think the temperature has ever dropped below 17 degrees, the same cannot be said for those in the north. When I first came here we would be without rain from late November till at least April and one year till June. Since 2016 we have not gone through the dry season without rain at some stage. Being self sufficient with water it is something you take note of, can be a bit galling when Pattaya gets flooded and we haven't had a drop.

In 2019 as a result of the embassy letter coming to an end I went to HCMC for a ME visa and once we had done that had a trip across to Vung Tau. Going across the bay was quite incredible, there were flying fish alongside the boat, just a couple of feet from the window. In Feb 2020 I had to do my first bounce on that visa just as the pandemic started. Went from Chonburi on the train to Padang Besar, arrived in the morning and left in the afternoon, not great but circumstances dictated.

When I did mine last year I used bank statements from my Thai bank and it wasn't a problem. -
Visa refusal decision reversed !
sandyf replied to killblues's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Comments on the forum have shown this question causes some confusion and brought a variety of responses. " Applicant must apply for e-Visa via specific Embassy/Consulate conforming with his/her consular jurisdiction and residency. Applicant is required to upload document that can verify his/her current residency. *" Difficult to know how this would be interpreted. I used my passport without a problem but I could see how staff may think an address should be included. I know people who have submitted document with address and had no problem so the way I will choose in the future. A more observant member of staff may have related your flight to the above question but not something that could be relied on, particularly with pressure from the impending holiday. From the outcome it would appear that the overall assessment of the application wasn't as good as it should have been but that does not mean that there were any actual mistakes made. -
A bit irrelevant, immigration can see previous extensions in your passport. I have broken the "chain" several time and it hasn't been any different if consecutive or otherwise, always been a struggle. When the pandemic started I was on ME Non O and come Sept the auto extension came to an end. I tried to get 12 month extension on reduced transfers, she just laughed, pointed to a previous extension and said "Not new". I have had 5 home visits and no two have been the same. The only consistent is inconsistency.

Visa refusal decision reversed !
sandyf replied to killblues's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That is not the point, given the holiday situation you didn't allow reasonable time for the application to be dealt with. A earlier application would have allowed more processing time. The reality is you only allowed about 6 days. As far as the refusal is concerned that is something else. The Embassy would take it that you were in the UK at time of application unless you gave them reason to think otherwise. The text of the questions is not always as clear as it should be and it is fairly obvious from comments on this forum that people often misinterpret what is being asked. They need to be read several times before making an answer. -
Visa refusal decision reversed !

The Embassy is not to blame here. You applied on April 1st for a flight on April 12th with an Easter weekend in between. Sending something on the 5th April wasn't going to get an answer till the following week. The London Embassy is fairly efficient but you can't blame them for closing over the holiday period, check the calendar next time and allow time for a query. -
Prevent your retirement visa in Thailand from expiring
sandyf replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Of course you do. Visas become invalid, they don't disappear from your travel history. They would soon come to the surface if you were suspected of belonging to terrorist organisation. Once you enter the country the visa is no longer useable, an SE would become invalid and a ME could not be used unless you leave the country. Your visa status reflects how you entered the country or any changes made since. You are certainly right in that the article wasn't written as well as it should have been. -
Prevent your retirement visa in Thailand from expiring

That is not correct in respect of "any" visa although it may be for some. I came back on a new Non O visa in Aug and have only done 90 day online since then. I have come in on a new visa several times and have done online for many years. It did used to be the case but they may have improved on that since they revamped the online system. You have to bear in mind that the first extension on a new 90 day entry comes at the same time as the first 90 day report and no TM47 is required. The system may now see that first extension as a 90 day report in person. Following my return on 26th August I did my first TM47 on 5th Feb online and 2nd on 4th April. -
The BPK website is a bit of a pain being in Thai but the page headers are in English so a question of working through the menus. They also do tiles which if you are facing may be more appropriate. https://bpk.in.th/brick_type/terra-cotta-wall-tile/ https://bpk.in.th/brick/t93b-terracotta-walltile-antiquetile-decortile-redtile/ Also a few other pages to pick from.

Zero dollar tourism looms again as Chinese return to Thailand
sandyf replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
As do a significant proportion of the population. Only a couple of weeks ago the Chinese graveyards came to life during Qing Ming. Thai Chinese are the largest minority group in the country and the largest overseas Chinese community in the world with a population of approximately 7-10 million people, accounting for 11–14% of the total population of the country as of 2012. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_Chinese -

Of course they don't, the usual TVF rhetoric. The immigration arrival documents have been posted on here a few times over the years and they showed quite clearly how everyone that enters Thailand is categorised. As for the stats, when Pattaya beach road is blocked by tour buses everyone will be whinging how the governement never anticipated the consequences of tourists that had come out of so called hot air. -
