I fail to understand why people would prefer to carry a passport than an ID card. When i first registered at the cancer hospital I had no option than to use my passport and I saw the nurse drop it as she carried the documents around the room. When I got the pink card I re- registered and now they slip the ID card into a plastic sleeve and staple it to the docs just like everyone else.

You have been told wrong, Chonburi DLT insist on a residency certificate and also Pattaya I believe. Advantage is in the eye of the beholder. I am registered at the hospital with my Thai ID number and when the pandemic came along the hospital put me on mor Phrom. I was vaccinated at about 9am on the morning the vacine rollout started. I have also had free check ups with mobile health units and participated in the government flu jab program. Of course I am well aware that there are those that would not wish to have anything to do with the state health system so they would see no advantage.

Many have said about getting a new monitor but it looks like an all in one to me. You haven't said where you live but around me there are a few places like Tukcom and Central that have IT areas. I would suggest initially that you take it to be checked as it may be something that can be easily replaced. If however it is the display itself I woulg go along with the previous suggestion that you consider an additional display connected to the HDMI port. I use a small 22 inch TV with my very old HP laptop. The TV cost about 2700 baht whereas a monitor is likely to be about 4500 baht. Unless there are other problems there is no real need to replace the computer side of the device.

For 3 years up until Dec 2021 when sadly my friend passed away I was sharing a google account with him, he was in the UK and me in Thailand. The account was not personal, it was being used to manage a group we both belonged to and I can assure there was no constant bombardment from Google. You are also wrong to think you must have a mobile device, that is the normal default but there is an option for when the mobile device is not available. A few years back I had a Hotmail account stolen and it was quite difficult to recover, if only Microsoft had thought of 2 stage verification.

There are 2 questions on the application, first is question 4 4 . Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party * For this you can upload whatever you choose or refer to question 10 The second question 10 10 . Bank statement, showing GBP10,000 minimum, with name & visible * For this you can upload the required statement or refer to question 4. At this point in time there is no clear indication of what London will accept but it wouldn't be out of the question for it to be in line with the 12 month extension. ie £1000/month for question 4 or £10K for question 10. If struggling with the non O and only looking at 4 months may be better to consider other options.

Penang / HCM 1 year Multiple Non-O Marriage
sandyf replied to chesterubi1's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I did it at HCMC in Dec 2019 and from what I can see things are now as they were. Fairly straightforward, hand in application in morning and collect following afternoon. Very small office, they only let a few in at a time and I would advise having everything ready before going, you can download the application form. only info on wife required, no financials. I was the last of the group I was with to go in, all the others went straight to a desk and started writing, I just went straight to the window. My wife was with me but they wouldn't let her in because of space. The fee for ME is 200 USD and must be paid in USD, i was asked outside for USD by some that had been turned away. On the day of collection, everyone in queue had their passport back within 20 minutes of them opening the doors, once you were allowed in only a couple of minutes. I haven't been to Penang embassy but have been to Penang, I preferred the time in HCMC. 2.4.1. Thai spouse: Guarantee letter from Thai Spouse, can be Thai or English Copy of Thai marriage certificate - If an applicant has another national marriage certificate, the document will need to be translated in English by a notary public - For Vietnamese marriage certificate need to be legalized by Department of External Relation in Ho chi Minh City (Address: 184 Bis Pasteur, Quận 1, TP.HCM) Certified copy of Thai spouse’s ID card Certified copy of house registration book Other relevant document, for example copy of Thai child’s birth certificate with their passport/Id card https://hochiminh.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/non-immigrant-o-accompanying-thai-spouse-and-family-members?page=5d80ab3315e39c2fe800a791 -
We went there a couple of months ago but can't really recommend anywhere. We stayed at the Kensington which was a bit isolated and had nothing for children other than bicycles. We came through the park from the south and on leaving by the north entrance it was fairly built up so I would suggest looking around there. There is a zoo and chocolate factory in the area but we didn't see much with the rain. Once you get away from the park entrance it all becomes a bit spread out.

I have had 2 for many years, both Smarthome, difficult to live without it. The heating element went in the first one after about 5 years so immediately bought another, now about 7 years old. I bought a replacement element for the first one and my sister in law is still using that.

How to get a UK mobile phone number for Paypal registration/OTP?
sandyf replied to simon43's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I would agree. I had a GiffGaff sim sent to me here in Thailand and I activated here before flying to the UK. -
You are wrong, it is perfectly legal to rent accommodation for less than 30 days in compliance with the regulations. What is illegal is for an owner to sign a declaration falsely stating compliance. An owner of a condo in possession of a hotel licence can rent out that condo for as many days as he chooses, irrespective of what condo owners would prefer to think. You were also wrong to imply condo management had the power of eviction. If a condo owner has acted illegally then there is a due process that can be followed, nothing to do with the tenant or the rental agency. As for the first part of your comment, life has always been like that, you pay your money and take your chance, why should condo owners be excused the facts of life.
-
Garbage like this gets spread about by condo owners to try and stop people using rental agencies like Airbnb. Bit like people buying a house near an airport and then complaining about the noise.
-
Check the facts before making incorrect allegations. With all Airbnb lets, as well as any other rental agency, the owner has declared conformity with local regulations. If there is any breach of said regulations, responsibility lies with the owner, no one else.

Wang Prachan border bounce completed
sandyf replied to Leon1980's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No, as I said I was only in malaysia for a few hours. Nobody queues for any length of time at the border in the railway station, immigration only opens about an hour before the train goes. -
Last Non O I did at London was late 2017, just marriage certificate and ID card. The E- visa system at London started in June 2019 but there were problems initially and some had to visit in person to get their visas under the new system. Never heard before of the Thai embassy asking for income details for the Thai spouse of a UK applicant, must have been taking lessons from UK immigration.
-
Bit of a narrow minded view, Airbnb do weekly and monthly discounts. They have places around Bang Na & Nonthaburi at about £300/month, city centre about £500 upwards.
-
On the non O marriage there are 2 financial questions, one is regarding your income(nothing to do with your wife) and the other is money in the bank. You need only answer one, or both, up to you. If you have a pension over 40k baht/month you could use that for first question and there would be no need for the bank statement. I did both, a copy of pension letter and print out from my Thai account, well below 10K GDP. On the non o retirement the 2 questions have been merged which is bit less confusing. Yes the UK consulates never used to ask for financials on Non O marriage, I used Hull for many years. I also got a Non O marriage in HCMC 3 years ago without financials. There has always been a financial requirement for Non O retirement and when they introduced the E-visa a few years back it looks like they tried to bring the requirements more in line.

65,000 Thb method for Retirement Visa
sandyf replied to spambot's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I had a protracted discussion with immigration and this point arose. They said the only time you can use the reduced time allowance on income is if it is a genuine first extension, as opposed to first extension on another visa. Obviously a discretionary issue so interpretation will vary and generally speaking the 800K(or 400K for marriage) will prevail as the majority that have obtained another Non O will have in all likelihood interrupted funding their Thai account. -
Question about visa extension (mistake stamp)
sandyf replied to waxpro's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I was agreeing with this statement from a previous post. "The reason for my guess is that when you change the reason for an extension of stay from retirement to marriage or vice versa you forfeit the remaining time on your extension so the same rule is being applied hear." Of course remaining in context is never been your strong point. -
Quite, and much the same in other Thai cities. Pattay is probably the cheapest city in Thailand to travel about, but still the complaints.

Question about visa extension (mistake stamp)
sandyf replied to waxpro's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Quite, when I changed from marriage to retirement the new premission to stay was taken from the date of application, 10 days sooner than it would have been had I remained on a marriage extension. -
The answer to your last point depends on the individual, some find online processing a bit difficult and others have an aversion to change. The e-visa system is a bit more involved, it has to be borne in mind it has been written to cover various scenarios and you need to read between the lines. It is certainly quicker and more convient than before. An hour at the computer and job done, no farting about filling in forms and going to the post office or the embassy. You need to note that the guidance will say all documents should be in English but that does not apply to the marriage certificate, they need to see the Thai version. I have attached a copy of the question page from the application. Good luck. Official Website of Thailand Electronic Visa_4.pdf
