Blimey you must be skint! that's less than £4.50.

Amazing how many people on this forum have reading disabilities. Think that could be from the cheap booze?

The bottle is about 4500 Pound.

Just cheap booze. Here's the real deal 6M Baht a bottle. You get a nice case too.

The Philippines also has a robust manufacturing infrastructure but business dealings are extremely layered with deep levels of corruption (at a significant cost).

Can you tell me what the Philippines manufactures other than babies ?

San Miguel and they also manufacture cheap firearms, some of which the Thai Military uses. Oh and some brands of cigarettes. That's about all I know of.

  3. even 24/7 at full blast

I agree if you are actually in the room, or if you're paying top $ for a hotel room. But 'budget' hotels operate on that budget, which is why it is standard practice to switch off the air-con when not in the room.

Besides the costs, what about wasted energy? Why not be more responsible and minimise use of the air-con?

Simon seems like you'll need to install electricity meters now.

  4. Atf,thanks mate, you have always been a good pal on this forum, witha lot of others, don't know what i will do ,cannot see it changing much, maybe i should just fadeaway, leave them too it.

Put yourself in the kid's position. His biological father isn't around so he's either looking for guidance or he's trying to knock you off your perch. His mother isn't getting involved because she doesn't want to alienate either of you.

Like it or not you are his father now so act accordingly. Good Luck.

  5. Thank's atf,thinking it over,though not my kid,if it was agree,but don't think it would be appropriate.

You gotta lay down the law. Either way you can't lose. He'll either become submissive or leave. If mum loves him more than you she'll go too but I doubt it.

  6. In BKK most of the doctors work for several hospitals and everything is subject to negotiation. If you have foreign medical insurance the price will be high and of course the surgeon will try to get the best price he can.

My main complaint with Thai hospitals would be that they pad the bill with unnecessary medication and services and follow up visits.

Those that say the NHS in the UK is free are talking rubbish. You have to go private or go on a two year waiting list for anything that isn't immediately life threatening and the service is mostly shoddy to say the least.

I agree that the british NHS is shoddy and you have the long waiting times, but it is free.

The doctors in the Thai hospitals, as far as I know, have no say on the price. When I asked the doctor, he admitted he didn't know the price but I'd have to ask at the administration.

If you are having an operation it's a good idea to sign a contract with the hospital because if something goes wrong it could end up costing a fortune.

So fix the price by contract once a price has been agreed because anything could happen.

  7. One look at the Map would tell you why the Philippines will eventually succeed.

China is breaking out to the sea. We have read the news.

the term the military uses is......"Strategic".

It will always be that...just because of it's position on the China Sea and Pacific. Deep Water Ports, coves, are excellent. Airports, refueling Logistics (refuel and resupply) adequate. Alliances with the West ....solid.

It will not become another Taiwan....Ever.

You have very positive things to say about PH. I'm not trying to wind you up here but why don't you live there if you like it so much.

I find people vote with their feet and Taiwan is an economic miracle. One that can be contributed to the US because they "acquired" IBM tech.

  8. Jool's, Sukhumvit Soi 4.

Black Swan is a good idea only if you like your pork sausages rare, the "chef" cannot cook them all the way through and rare pork is not the nicest thing.

I used to eat raw pork sausages when I was a kid and look how I turned out.

The cod at the Black Swan is probably the best I've ever had. Almost one inch thick. They do haddock too.

  9. The article isn't talking about a dye; it talks about something which speeds up the reddening (ripening) process.

It sounds like they may be talking about the growth hormone forchlorfenuron.

    http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/06/03/why-are-nonorganic-watermelons-exploding-in-china.aspx

Edit: BTW, I ate a watermelon that fits this description about a month ago.

As I said they have been unverified reports that they use a ripening agent for tomatoes but as far as I know they just soak them in it.

If you look at the pics the seeds are white not black. I would be wary of eating a watermelon with white seeds.
