  1. sooo Just listening to peoples replies (Thanks)

Here is my reply: (Junta & Education Department, Listen up)

I would like to quote a student of mine today: (on hearing that I may be leaving) to my line Manager (Unpaid/Overworked)

"Of all the teachers I have had (ALL? She is only/just 20 in a Government school)...

He is the best. He really helped me...
(How could I, she was always surrounded? by students who were totally [programed/ordered to be] uninterested,
or on some activity or other - showing the school was good...?)

she continued: "he really makes [helps] me understand [Real/Practical] English,
so it is easy for me [to understand how to pronounce and speak]"

    (There was more but ...)

The best Thai teachers speak excellent English but Have NO grammar -
hey so what, they can be perfectly understood...

and then I met acontingent from an "equivalent" school in.... Cambodia ...

who spoke near perfect English - observed (international) courtesies [no hierarchy deference’s]

and concentrated on exchange of ideas and observances of student studies -

Oh dear - may this be my epitaph (To add to the rest)...

And NO I do Not feel honoured to have visited Thailand as a Guest OR a Giver....

  2. I heard this was the case - charging parents

And many people with hands in the Till - seems normal

My contract was due just after the change of leadership - hence the the sudden drop drop in salary.

But I bet the fingers will be in the Till again and I will not get the salary agreed at original.interview

If so I will be leaving Thailand

As long as he is on a visa and not an extension, he can stay until the date he was stamped in for.
No problem applying for and accepting a job anywhere else. If he was on an extension he'd have to leave when the job ended.
Some schools don't know that, and others do, but hope the employee doesn't. That's why some schools want the employees who currently have an O based on marriage to change to a Non B. They think they have more control.

The figures that have been posted, 22k and 25k sound like what the government is going to give the school for their foreign teacher. If the school wants to pay more they have to find the funds another way, usually by charging the parents a small fee each term. It's been that way since at least 1995 (when I first became aware of it).

  3. ...Maybe it's the Director shooting his own foot....

    It's very disrepectful and insulting,

especially as a similar was recruiting at 35K

(34K being what we verbally agreed last year)

Anyone else heard of Native speakers getting less!!

    (Suitcases at the ready)

I didn't hear, nor read anything similar like this yet. If so, they'd shoot themselves in their foot and more and more people would just quit.

I couldn't support my family, making 22 K. Time for a "foreign teacher's Association", if your director's statement is true. -facepalm.gif

  4. Long story short..

I am leaving for family business ...

The Government school director is worried I won't return so I have been informed

that the New Junta government has set Native teachers salaries to 22K

But he will continue to pay me 27K if I sign again

He used to pay me 37K then suddenly dropped it when the junta took over...

Am I dealing with children or....

Can this be your Smile of the day.....?

  5. On a long trip (No pun) to Jamaica

I noticed hundreds of females over 50 (at least) shagging their days away

    with the local big knobs...

all provide for by the deseased husbands

Most men just want a wife that will have sex with them whenever they want, and maybe produce a few babies.

These girls usually fulfil the first criteria nicely.

Cheaper than the respectable western ladies, that produce a few babies, never have sex again, then want your house and pension.

  6. It's in it's original box that can be opened. It was not taped to make it possible to check.

It was a sub post office but he rang someone - but the answer was no...

pointing to the list of, cannot send, on the wall

Why won't they allow you to send it ?

Did you go in there with it fully boxed up so they couldn't see what was inside it ?

  7. Thanks for the reply.

I am concerned about getting the Chinese visa to get IN and OUT of China...

especially if I start and end my jouney by train...

I did it in the reverse order to you. Bangkok to Guangzhou, then train to Hong Kong and then Hong Kong to Bangkok. No problems doing it in that order anyway.

  8. Advice for travelling to China (Tour) via HongKong (Stay in HK 4 nights)

Maybe 2 weeks in China - do I need a Return ticket from my first destination or my last destination (In China)

If I enter at HK and visit say Guanzhou by train - is this allowed (Must I exit China from Guagzhou?)

or do I have to Fly in? (from HK)

    Thanks

  9. "Tradition dish of the UK is now - Curry and Chips"

He can go to Samui and get Curry n chips, fish n chips and Sunday lunch with... Yorkshire puds

(Don't know about the taste - I didn't try - Low spice ASIAN food and Danish beer for me...)

I wouldn't say racist buy probably having a laugh/trying to wind you up by the sounds of things, my grandad is similar... he will only eat 'Yorkshire' food too which will be good when he comes here next year... give him a quick boot up the ass tongue.png

Yorkshire food now is mainly Indian curries
  10. The Number 1 reason for an Embassy is to gain business for the home country and keep the local top brass happy - by PR, meetings, attendances...

A minor role is a consular section that deals with visas - if u lose your passport (you should have a separate copy of ALL documents) -

go to the police, make a report, follow procedure/advice (If you are with a travel package - your Rep) If independent and in an airport, ask an airline.

But stay CALM - people are much more approachable that way...

(No connection to Embassy - but travel experience)

  11. It just means - how many diversifications we have now -

(at least he didn't say "Lady boys")

I nearly married a Greek girl - come to think of it: an American, a Dutch girl (Woman)....

But now married to an ASIAN

My Mother's family is (way back) form Wales my Father's steadfastly English,,,,

But Thank God we were not taken over by the French! (Oh is that racist - or a historical joke/quote?)

But, but, the part of England I am from was mainly taken over by Scandanavians

and Oh my Son maybe marrying a girl from a Saxon area - OMG German!!

(Final But - at least we not interrelated ... cough, cough)

  12. THEY have NO choice or say in the matter.

How old and bitter do you have to be to get upset about a floating bouncy castle?

Don't worry too much about these sort of responses No.1Farang........ you could be 16 years old and very positive for all we know. Just don't like seeing a beautiful beach turned into another Patong right? I always get these replies when I make any comment on the trashing of the Thai enviroment. Just have to realise that Thailand really does attract a lot of people who actually like seeing the beaches commercialised with this sort of garbage......deckchairs, trash everywhere, jetskis, etc etc......they love it.
