  1. Some Brits are pooly educated, poorly informed, poorly guided - but they ARE British.

ALL Foreigners with a British Passport ARE NOT!

And what's worse is MOST don't WANT TO BE....

It's a sad day for real 'Brits' unfortunately

Love to hear your definition of "real" Brits.

    which-shameless-uk-character-are-you_OG.

The fictional Gallagher family are of Irish descent, the Irish don't take kindly to being referred to as British so not "real" Brits.

  2. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULES!

The last place there should be an eyesore on the shore!

Down market - Low Quality. - Non Sense...

First they clear the beaches then they cover the sea....

I enjoyed lamaii because it was as it should be (It wasn't perfect But Catered for most)

Why do they have to vandalize every "painting" in Thailand??

Tourist save for a year or years to come to Thailand It takes 11 hours to get here from Europe and at least 17 from USA -

Most don't want a cheap, tacky, dirty, fun fair bouncy castle on a paradise beach!

    (Keep it in Chaweng)

    TAT: "Quality Tourists"

    Defeats the object...

  3. ....BUT.... But ... Turkey is Sooooo Macho

I've been told. They use knives if they are slightly insulted

(now where have I heard that before...?)

Someone else said - to cover up they are WEARING womens Knickers!
    By order of their Women!!

    (Pants?)

Turkey has the second highest population of transvestites/transgenders in the World so suck it up.

Google it if you don't believe me. Brazil is first. Turkish passport = Turkish.

  4. Schools just need a good, updated computer room/s dependent on student numbers...

Like a research Library - everyone has reasonable access (book a day and time?)

Supervised use for research only. (Much cheaper than individual tablets)

The computer rooms can then be incorporated into lesson planning - even if it's just once per month.

It's also about time there was a computer in every classroom - teacher use.(separate system)

With adequate internet download speeds for classroom use.

(And for teacher apartments: homework, forward lesson planning and family connections)

However, Internet access for all should be guaranteed for students, even if it's switched off during class time.

Computers are part of evey day use - why not in class?

  5. Quality Tourist destination - wanna bees, should follow the lead....

BUT Most Tourists come to Thailand for SEX - to varying degrees of intensity and er... "choice"

And here's the wake-up call they also come because Thailand is Not Normal.

On a quiet night in Patayya there are 20 tour coaches waiting for passengers to return from Walking Street -

the tourists are not there for the walking...

  6. ... or better - wanted (needed) Guests

Maybe people are fed up with be treated like second class citizens and are moving to countries that want their economic input. Or its becoming to expensive and regulated , and of course all the visa crackdowns and nominee company crackdowns may be forcing people out, Thailand is still a great place but its losing its advantages one step at a time.

I think this is at least part of the reason.

Yet again I find myself the odd one out with this thinking, I'm very OK with the way I'm treated here, 90 day reports are a minor hassle (transferred to a visa agent for 1k a year), visa renewal, once a year, I can handle that, that's about it really.

agreed....some can't seem to realize that we are still "visitors."

  7. If they are illegals then yes Rats.

But what if they have just had enough of all the increasing violence, sexual assaults,
unwillingness to treat ferrang workers as guests (Dare I say helpful!)

Or sick of more tighter rules Not to mention increasing disparity of pay/no increase...

I personally I think things are going to be better - not sure for how long...

And I am thinking of leaving

Something along the lines of rats leaving a sinking ship ?

  8. I tried this a few months back.

Insurance companies must be the Only business that offer the customer what they want (The insurance company wants)

Everybody wants Emergency cover i.e for big unforeseen emergencies, especially ex-pats.

Expats can usually go home and get some kind of emergency cover for say a Heart attack or Hit and Run (the latter worries me more!).

I wanted cover - JUST If I couldn't fly... (But to them, that's like Not being in control of the roulette wheel...)

No such thing as a certainty - except for insurance companies...

  9. ... and most Jumpers are suicides

I am afraid that once someone is shot, they immediately become an insurgent.

I'm afraid that once some people read these reports they immediately re-invent the report to suit their own ends. The boy who was killed had a pistol and was part of a gang of insurgents involved in a gunfight with the authorities.

He may or may not have been a terrorist, however I recall that guns or drugs were deliberately placed beside innocent victims during the war on drugs. There is a history of covering up killings by employing such tactics.

I'm not suggesting this is what happened here, but if it did it wouldn't be the first time.
  10. I didn't wade through all replies but anybody changed the wording...

Foreigners (Thais) have been exploiting tourist visas and visas on arrival to (Get foreigners to) work illegally in Thailand,

mostly as English teachers. When their visa is about to expire, they (have to) go to a neighbouring country

for a new visa and return to continue with their illegal (ly operated) jobs.

And the rub is - it's mostly because of laziness, procrastination or...

I am speaking generally as both sides are culpable.

To be positive there is a need for "teacher assistants" who could (?) work with say a 120 hr TEFL

Perhaps earning their Degree (In English ?) through a Thai college or University (Whist working) -

Simple and good business for all.

(Most adults should find a Degree much easier than when they were young -

especially if the course was "adaptable" ...)

  11. In my (and I quote) "Detention center" skool

The Japanese class (with certificate) is full of, on time (ish) learners, who listen, learn, and take part... (I had to see it for my own eyes)

In the morning English class (No certificate) - they stay in bed or enjoy a conversation breakfasts...

(Head teacher said, " don't do too much, or they won't turn up")

In the Thai class opposite, they have to be on time, to write notes, or copy from the board -

whilst the teacher sits in the office for 30+ minutes, having breakfast...

Good Luck to anyone who tries to break the mold - it's still on the Potter's wheel...
