  1. Did someone think to tell her that 78% of Thais live from their small salary month by month & that many have HP or mortgages to pay so you will need to discount hotel rooms a lot more (& they are already cheap) In reality I am surprised just how much Thais do travel but again, did someone think to tell TAT that the Thais travelling internally will not help Thailands balance of payment nor foreign reserves, so Thailand sinks deeper into the bog
  2. "Thais don"t eat much beef" What a lot of rubbish. Most Laab is beef so half of Isaan eats beef & I had tonight in Tak. Lamb is expensive here. What a lot of rubbish, maybe you are out of reality. I stopped bringing deep frozen, newspaper wrapped lamb back from NZ as there is little difference in the price. 1,300 Bht for a large lamb leg is still good price & not worth the hassle
  3. They can never be trusted. FULLSTOP. I am a dog lover & bred for 20 years but Pittis are about as dangerous a breed as can get along with another 4 breeds. I agree with many breeds being well trained make good pets including Rotties & dobers but there is just far too much evidence in many countries (cold & hot climates), yes it can make a difference,to suggest that pittis can go in this category. I would applaud any Government that totally banned the breed as a public service.
  4. Get rid of that metal clip in the brickwork for a start. Reverberation transfer straight through. Can use isolation clips though. People who have recommended (like Mr Jim Tripper ) the acoustic material have no idea what they are talking about & even 5 layers will do nothing. You have an STC problem not NRC. What you are building may help a little but flanking will determine how much. Transfer through & above the ceiling will negate most of your efforts unless take your 2nd wall right up to the slab or roof. You are lucky they are not playing music with a lot of bass. Good Luck
  5. You know in Thailand that to go after somone if things go "pearshaped" is basically impossible. I rented a bar for 24 years & many insurance Co's would not sell me any policy as I did not own the joint. As to damage repair on commercial leases the lessee has to repair, even if a major roof leak.
  6. Advertised as an ADULT Entertainmant Area & very strict on access age. Mainly orientated around males all but around the world it is the same. Security access, Kings Cross in Sydney for example any age can wander around. (Horrible place). Nana is not a drug dealers paradise (again, unlike Kings Cross) & I doubt if any owners of bars are selling as just not worth it . Yes, hate to tell some of you posters, but it is safe as far as personal safety is concerned albiet I have always said that in the event of a fire there is only one exit. There are 2 other fire exits out to the Landmark driveway but I think locked or built over which is a major concern as a small incendiary placed at the narrow entrance would cost many lives. I frequented on a regular basis & YOU get yourself into trouble if there is any. I do not know the exact slagging this lady has been up to but maybe the Thai authorities should turn it into advertising by accepting the facts of what it is & targeting them to frequent. It is actually a pretty special place for what it is.
  7. Suggest you put more water with it or dilute by mixing some tobacco with it
  8. Checked both Rutnin & Bangkok Hospital (I was happy with both). Chose Dr Taranee at BH. I wear glasses anyway & happy to still wear, 80,000 Bht. Excellent from start to go. Ensure you understand the cell count problems that make the procedure & follow up costs more expensive & results less if you leave too long or other diminishing returns when over 70 years old.
  9. I for one agree that hospital care prices for farangs & Thais should be different. Their healthcare system struggles (as does the NHS, NZ Health & Aust' Medicare" ) 3 that I know of. Why should they subsidize us unless working & paying SS when you are elgible. And we will not talk about the crazy prices in the US. It is one of the risks we take living here up to a point. I have insurance but only up to 2 mil per op which would in no way cover anything major
  10. If fixed that quickly can only be a temporary fix. Get started on the tunnel, certainly Phuket must have put enough money in the Governments sludge fund by now
  11. I could use marriage but have chosen retirement since coming off a 22 year B & work permit. Just feel it gives me that sense of "doing it my way"
  12. How many go back to the horrific gas tanker explosion on Phetchaburi Rd. What a tragedy that was with so much lose of life & what a mess
  13. The lack of longterm planning & infrastructure spending on the right things is epitomized here in that the tunnel has not been completed years ago, it really is a no brainer but the only 2 reasons I can logically think of why not built is that they do not have the knowledge to do so or if a suitable contractor who can has not been found that will play the illegal "commission" game
  14. I know that Japan has orderd some bananas (yes, they are a herb) but how many ?????
  15. The more driving in cars & motorbikes will push the Chinese injured, maimed or killed up & bad publicity will kill (excuse the pun) this way of travelling around Thailand. Now, back to the airport........
  16. Never mind, next year send them over to Aceh, then there will be fireworks
  17. I note that some Thais can read a little but no chance of speaking it. To have any chance of taking tourism to the next level this needs to be addressed but doubt will be. This will all go away about Christmas until next year when the index comes out again
  18. They had a great opportunity during Covid to clean the place up, put tourist infrastructure in place, reeducate the taxis & get the taxi mafia & other rip off merchants sorted. The quality of spoken english could also have been improved during this time for the tourist areas along with the police needing to somehow make the roads safer on the vastly improved roads. They blew it. The tourist industry will roll along but the opportunity to have really top quality tourism in lesser numbers but really high spending has gone as although there are many really good quality hotels the amenities outside of their establishments just does not stack up
  19. For good fish & chips that is cheap
  20. Should this have not been done as a matter of course ?
  21. What could possibly go wrong ?????? Fire brigade, all leave cancelled & on duty please
  22. Yes, agree with the original poster, they can be dangerous, Witnessed a taxi who thought he had the "street covered" & after a lady refused to pay the extortionate price requested hailed a passing cab. Within seconds he had a long sword out & was about to attack her. The hotel security guard intervened...... I went to park my pickup on Sukhumvit Soi 11 in a normal parking spot & was told on no uncertain terms "NO, Taxi only. So moved 50 yards down & parked with this guy running after me No, No. I just walked past him & got bumped & a "cutthroat sign" When I returned 20 minutes later I had 2 front cut tyres & the brand new spare had been unwound & stolen. They are a mafia & dangerous. Some of you must lead a very sheltered life here
