  1. First time I hear that a blood test is needed to renew work permit....

Needed to confirm that you don't have syphilis.

Exactly, and some places even actually do it before issuing a certification letter for the labour department. That started about 2 years ago -- all WP holders every year.

As for being given pills for a blood test or X-ray --- LMAO. No! Have had many X-rays and several blood tests but never been given pills for either.

All WP holders, every year ?.......not think so.......

  2. 1km before Nathon coming from maenam left side.

That would be Samui Aksorn, usually pretty good, need to follow up and check as their work load can put smaller jobs on the back burner, Siam Map is another alternative, excellent quality but also a bit more expensive.

  3. Sure Super Rich is better.. but it is in BKK...

AUS rate... I don t know but should be better than others exchange shops..

Better than the banks? thats financial suicide!

I know people who make 5,000-10,000 profit a month just by exchanging foreign currency back and forth. Yes, Super Rich is in BKK only, so if you just want to exchange some Baht, then of cause the Samui option is much better.

  4. Popular coz I have 3 friends or coz I pay ?

Actually I have more than 3 people I am happy to spend money with/on and on other occasions they are paying....

Yes, Nikki Beach includes wine, 2-3 bottles and a few G&T's to start with. Cigars are around Baht 2,000 a stick and even cigarettes are 3 times of what 7/11 charges....like I said, its easy to reach 20,000 for lunch and I know people who spend this and more regularly.....

So did I but most of them left when the the price of an investment visa went from 2 to 10 million. The time of people in the late 30's - 40's coming to Thailand to blow their money has long gone and Cambodia has picked up the mantel.

    Still plenty around :)

  5. Yeah well the fah thai bangkok airways ad the prices run 30,000 baht for 1 page, and per month. So dont think they will go out of business anytime soon.

As for other publications im not sure this is fair to say but it seems they only target people who could only read English and were placed in areas of low volume distribution. Also many of these so called magazines were put in many hotels but I hardly ever saw anyone bother to read them or even pick them up.

Fah Thai is about 65,000 for a full page per month or 130,000 per issue. (2 month) Essential has folded a while ago and the guy who ran it ran as well......

  6. 70K in restaurants? And thats you paying just for yourself? Are you, you know, on the large side?

I said for 4 people. This month it won't be that much. I am not on the large side at all, and considering what these places cost, it is really no difficult. Intercon BBQ dinner is Baht 2,900++ per person, just figure 4 of us plus drinks, Nikki Beach on a Sunday easy 20,000 and Six Sense a decent set menu cost 5,000 per person with wines. Not bragging, but really not difficult to spend, try itthumbsup.gif

Ah, ok - 4 of you. You must be popular. wai.gif

Nikki beach, 20k .... does that also inclue wine? Just out of interest, like....

  8. 50000 p/m is a reasonable figure that will easily include the necessities; those being rent, electric, health insurance (for a single person), food and transport. Still plenty left for a few beers.

You could live here on less but i wouldn't want to.

for me i have 50 k just in bills with finance electric accounting fees, kids take another 22,000 per month gasoline. sometimes if i have a bad month i have a big land and house tax bill which sets me back a further 20k or car tax or inssuerance which cripples me financially for the rest of the month hence i dont have any money for beer which is why i cannot drink.

Plus mia noi's giks and what not..

It is true the more money u make the more your expenses climb

Agree, 50,000 does not seem enough, incl. giks can easily reach 100K......I just calculated I spent 70,000 on restaurants last month (no giks), just with friends.....and that wasn't really difficult. Intercon, Nikki Beach, Six Senses...... 4 people.....easy !

  9. Another thread that is more than 2 1/2 years old, that really has nothing to do with the current topic which is Bangkok Airways May 2013 flyer bonus offer.

Yeah...would have been nice if could have actually stayed on that other thread.

Anyway............2 days now and it still wont let me redeem my points!!!!

Flight is available...click on "NEXT" and nothing happens!!!!!!!

Still no response from the airline as to why it will not accept my request................so.........now what ???

    Have you called them?

YES.............guess what?? Cant even get through to speak to anyone....will keep trying.

They are all at the PG party already may be tongue.png

  10. Very good question

My budget is approx... FOR TWO :

20kTHB for comfortable house, included electricity, water, ...

30k food, gasoline, few shopping, drinks

always approx 10k more extra needed each month... for misc... visa, buy mask+snorkel, bottle of wine, cheese, gift, appliance for home, motobike repair, ...

I don't count flights tickets to France... 80000thb for 2, round trip, that's why I don t go often.

50,000 for food/drinks/petrol/electric/internet/cigarettes (no rent as have own) plus 30,000 for going out and/or gadgets/computer whatever I fancy.
