  1. There's a CEC General Meeting this Saturday, at Le Meridien Hotel, which would be the proper place for members to bring up their questions as to the reasons for the change. Arrive 10 am for a 10:30 am start. Entry is 150 baht for members 220 baht for non-members. The program topic is "Visiting Foreigners in Local Prisons". Note: this is not a breakfast meeting. Light refreshments are severed before the meeting.

Meanwhile, I'll be sure to publicize the new social events that will replace the Breakfast Club at River Market here on Thai Visa. This will give everyone a chance to attend.

Why will the light refreshments be severed? wink.png

It is the normal practice to serve "light refreshments" during pre-meeting social time at the Saturday morning General Meetings, i.e. coffee, tea, fruit, little tea sandwiches. Amazingly some people complain because they're expecting an entire breakfast buffet at Le Meridien for the price of entry.
mad dog or archers will give you a full breakfast for less than that price, And served up,with know fear of getting terminated, OR severed.

  3. "Then suddenly I saw ahead of me what looked like one of those GI Joe figures astride a bike coming towards me in one of those bike lanes I do not often notice. When this military man was just about on top of me, he suddenly stretched out his left arm in traffic cop fashion and called out for me to get back up on the sidewalk. Apparently, I had inadvertently encroached on his bike lane territory. He seemed extremely displeased, just as I was dismayed.

His accent left no doubt he was American, and he looked like a giant USA MP."

Are you stating that a large man in a US military uniform did this, or are you practicing your creative writing skills?

I think he is recovering fr0m the rise in the cost of eggs. He eats 5 a day and it has proven to be an immense dent in his spending money.

eggcactely blame Bangkok for not providing enough funds

  4. find it near enough impossible to comprehend, that there is so many intellectual challenged,And infirmed expats in chiang mai,be very interesting to no were they are, and why there here,as there is very little or non safety nets here or less you had oddles of the folding stuff, and that then bears the question why here if your loaded.just come to die.

  6. the proplem with your posting is you cause a storm of controversy, with you some what over the top castigation of practices at immigration, and proved by your banning it did not help staff to be enamoured with the job at hand, and also as been commented on, It pushes people in to agents offices, with the scary stories about this paperwork or that paperwork, most people can comply quite easy,Not the ilk you meet obviously..

  7. Best advice. Don't bother with the income statement….it's a headache going to the embassy especially the UK embassy. Have 12-13000 pounds wired over to your Thai bank account and park it here. Much easier and no hassle.

uk embassy only do income letters by post, and are very efficient, nearly enough return post well a few days,No personell visits for income letter excepted, if uk vote to leave Europe you going to need more than 12grand for your 800,000 bht.pound will dive.

  8. Chiang Mai Immigration is a law unto itself and I'd suggest that anyone who is planning to use an Income Letter more than one month old in Chiang Mai download, print out and bring the Immigration Directive with them to CM Imm. that UbonJoe so thoughtfully provided in Post No. 13.

What is acceptable in Jomtien, Phuket, CW or other places has no bearing on what happens at CM Imm. Recently, CM Imm has really stepped up their program of pushing all applicants to use agents and they're looking for any excuse to disqualify someone who is trying to to handle their own business related to retirement. Perhaps it would help to have UbonJoe's "directive" with you if you have an "elderly" Income Letter.

another scaremongering post by some one with god knows what agenda or crusade they think there promoting, just sounds like a bitter person to me.ive done 10 ext of stays with income letter, sailed through easily every one,in fact seems less problematic than the cash route.
