  1. Do Tinder and Badoo work for dirty old men who want to find 'practical' young women? The kind of men who used to frequent Hotshots, Loi Kroh, Spicy, etc.

For sure ! Many escort girls in there. Same same !

I don't understand places like Zoe, Hotshots, and Bubble anyways. There is so many cheap take away brothels around starting from 700 baht ! Is it not the same price (or even much less) than a cost of a single go-out-night with drinks for you and her, dinner, and you still have nothing for sure ? Plus that awkward moment in the morning how to kick her out ?

Or you like to feel the sense of a fake challenge ?

Or you really believe you gonna find a good girl there, which will go with you and spend night with you because you are so special.

700 baht? Would that be the Chiang Mai Housewives Club, or something worse? Is there anything worse?

sure try the moat by montrio hotel 500 bht
  2. I hear Mandalay reopened. Could be a possible alternative for the OP

belive they are not a very farang friendly venue, didnt they ask for a cover charge for farangs but not thais, any one go to that night club at ksk, suppose to be open till late late.think they have a cover charge, for all and sundry??

You talking about 'Take It' Club. Yes they charge 200 baht if i remember well, but this covers the entry and mixers for the all night.

Same for Thais and Farangs. Good pick up place.

Good View is also not too bad to pick up someone older than student's age, but costs more effort.

I thin there is no real alternative to Zoe, if someone prefers quantity over the quality. Zoe and Spicy.

BTW, Tinder works great for me. And Badoo.

give it a try mate you never know, faint heart and all that.
  3. For the proper ambiance, you can't beat early Friday evenings at the "Food Factory" (aka as "The Blue Food Court") in the basement of Kad Suan Kaew. Enjoy live music starting around 5 pm with a fairly competent band and lead singer styling what Elvis would have looked like if he'd lived to his 70s and had his hair dyed in a Thai salon. A barely-legal beer girl serves towers of your favorite Thai beers and you can watch your fellow expat retirees shuffle past in the flattering blue fluorescent light as they use this popular short-cut from CM Ram hospital to Tops Supermarket.

Don't know the price, but it's got to be good, because it's a popular after-work hangout for local Thai office workers and expats retirees and you can get order Thai favorites like pad Thai and fried rice from the various food vendors for 40 or 50 baht a plate.

he wants to buy a empty one (beer tower)suppose they would okay on your personal bar at home.

  5. A friend from Ireland turned up in Chiang Mai last week, an old mate I met in Chiang Mai yonks ago and havent seen him for the last for 6 years and the first time hes been back to Thailand since then. Hes roughly my age and a bit of a lad, loves the good times, drinks and girls.

We arranged to meet in town at 7. 00 evening last Monday 9th. We met up, great to see each other again and he asked; OK, take me somewhere new, where the action is? And guess what? I seriously did not know where to take him. It was stifling hot, LK was dead and that was that. We ended up going for a meal and having a few drinks, spoke about the good old days, by 10. 30 everything was dead and then we parted ways and the next day he checked out of his hotel and went down to Bangkok. Next year he intends to visit Thailand again but hell be giving Chiang Mai a miss and Ill probably fly down to meet him next time.

Ok, wait: 7pm, on a Monday, in May....

When was that ever a good time to party? wink.png

A few years ago it was a great time to stay out as late as you liked without dealing with weekend or high season crowds. The beer kept flowing and the pretties kept serving and there was less competition for their attention.

Now, whether you like your nightlife crowded and noisy or relaxed and with elbow-room, the party ends at midnight.

and in lots of bars /resturants,11-30 is the optimum time to start closing down, So as to be sure shutters down by midnight.
  6. what ever floats your boat mate, think its called choices, and as chaing mai venues for farangs shrink, blokes who are on the pull have to widen there prospecting.its just a few more arrows for your beau.

  7. closed two years ago at least, apart from yellow. And the thai places warm up, tawang dang, pickings a bit low in chaing mai.more luck on thai friendly/facebook.and this tinder thing, What ever it is

The trouble with looking for companionship on the internet is that you can spend a lot of time coming to an arrangement with someone without knowing if the profile and picture are accurate, or even being certain of the sex of the other party. So I've been told.

Also, some of us enjoy the chaotic ambience of a friendly bar over the sterile convenience of a computer screen.

  9. Apparently, it must be yours if you spent three days there. Bruce, bottle shop appears to be for lease, with a big sign overhead, and it also looks like they bailed on the place next door. I posted a photo of it a few weeks ago, but didn't get much info, other than they were still selling. Also, Move-Up is for sale...as if a business with prohibitively expensive rent is worth anything.

could be wrong,But I think some big money going in to nimman, maybe investors are looking for space and the bars are a easy target.to shut down and open up a retail store,or something.??

  10. 60 thb smalls at the beer bars in HH, and much more of a buyer's market in general. Cha'am is a bit peculier...there are good things and bad things about it not developing like HH, but apparently nightlife isn't one of the good.

Midnight closing too.. Some go to Hua Hin after midnight. (Which is a bit of a drive)

why not go there first, not a bad night life there,

  11. in reply to query, income letters are valid for 6 months.

Just to double check on that as it would save me getting 2 this year.

Have you any experience or personal friends who have done this?

Makes sense as retirement incomes are for life in most cases.

duh, stupid is as stupid does.another bizarre post by a bizarre poster.

All you had to do was say yes or no or it is just a rumor you had heard.

    Pretty simple.

you certinally got the simple right.

  12. OP comes to Thailand on holiday.

OP meets a girl and "falls in love".

OP returns to home country and cuts all ties, realising he has found paradise in Thailand.

OP moves to Thailand and shit gets real.

OP realises he made a mistake and moves home, tail between legs and...

    OP BLAMES THAILAND.

We all know that sit-com; it's been running forever, but, you left out the very frequent episode-ending variations after "gets real:"

    Your choice of::

    1. death by bucking balcony

    2. slow-to-quick gradual-to-sudden suicide via alcohol, drugs, high-risk behavior

    3. death by homicide perpetrated by (what OP believed was) a significant other.

    4. death by other: random violence, traffic slaughter, etc.

    5. permanent incapacity, or disability, as a result of the factors described in 1~4 above.

Consider, also, for your use of "OP:" "desperate mid-life-road-kill loser with some financial means" ? Note: by proposing an alternative for the use of "OP" in this reply, to this particular post, I do not mean to characterize the author of this thread in any nugatory light; the fact said author made it back, and can write what he wrote, suggests he is far to one-side of the mean, and the mode.

    cheers, ~o:37;

Or he can repeat the cycle with a new true love. I know one guy who lost two houses that way and is still searching. the funny part is he considers it easier than back in England. LOL

how can you lose a house there pretty big things, Maybe buy sat nav.

  13. had a very bad experience in dayli bar the other night,Ye promo 3 leos 169 okay,3 opened bottles and ice, No thank you one at a time and no ice, given menu, some jerk 5 minutes later its gone 11 no food, only five past, bill come 220 you no no had ice so full price, never and I mean never will I ever set foot in that dump again.

  14. I'd just like to say that I don't mind sellers. (Especially the ones who manage not to drag someone's baby along for some stupid reason.)

They're just making a living, and I tend to mostly decline, politely.

They mostly leave me along actually now as they know I'm not buying.. except... when... for some reason I have a temporary spell of insanity, typically alcohol induced, and I do buy something.. A week or two ago I bought lots of those woven wristbands, the ones in hilltribe style, not the rude/lewd text ones although the girl who sells those is very nice too, and she'll actually make so order anything you like, right on the spot.

I'd say it's part of the scenery, the sights and sounds.. Remember the wooden frog ladies? Don't see them too often these days. And I actually see fewer child flower sellers which is also a very good thing.

In summary they're people too, and if they suddenly all disappeared in some insane crackdown then I do think I might actually miss them.

just thinking wtk not seen any hill tribe ladies selling goods for ages, propaly moved on to pastures greener some were in los.
