If you loved your parents, you'd be looking after them yourself in your own home, not trying to stuff them in a nursing home. -

Yay, Trump for president ......... hope he wins! -
I can answer this question, as a pal of mine was an old, bald fat Canadian that encountered exactly this. He used to frequent Spotlite agog in Chiang mai. One night the OZ cricket team were in town, and the girls all ignored him for the fit young sportsmen. The next night he went back and the ladies were all over him ignoring the sportsmen. So he asked them what happened .......... "the guys did us all night, passed us around, talked down to us, and didn't even pay us well" "You are polite, buy us food and drinks, give us good money and we can sleep most of the night" These girls are working and not after romance or pleasure, they want the most money for the least effort.

Agree, none of it really bothers me.

ALL women are just waiting for their husbands to die. So might as well take the 25 year old. 60yo guy takes his new hot 25yo wife into his regular boozer. Barman says, "Cor mate how did you score that one" Guy replies, "I lied about my age" Barman says, "Wot, like to said you were 40" Guy says, "No, I told her I was 93"

You can't extend a Tourist VISA ($36), after 30 days you MUST leave the country. You can extend an ordinary VISA ($42), 1 year extension for around $300. So it would depend on which E-VISA you purchased. Lots of people make the mistake of buying the Tourist VISA. I always stayed in the Garden Village Guesthouse and Pool Bar. $15/night (475bht) for a double room beside the swimming pool, 200m from Pub Street. Then take your time to view longer term places to stay.

That would explain a gradual escalating shortage (remember 51% of Thai milk comes from NZ/Oz). That doesn't explain all milk gone over a span of 2 days.

Nope, warm weather and a decent house that I could afford on my pension. Along with the freedom to not be picked up and questioned by the police at anytime of the day or night.

No freedom of the press in the UK. In the 1980s the 'spook' used to sit next to me in the News studio and censor the news as it went out. In the 1990s I was that guy. I assume everywhere else in the west ran the same system.

Just how free are any of us? Lets ask Nigel Farage ............ Freedom depends where you are and what you want. There's stuff I wanted in the UK but couldn't have there, but can have in Thailand.

Still nothing in Chiang Mai. Even my coffee local shop has resorted to using UHT milk (nasty). I had my last coffee there this morning until the milk reappears.

Climate change: July set to be world's warmest month on record

I'm from the UK, +10c would just about make the place livable. So it would depend which point on the Earth. -
At today's exchange rate I get 38,500/month for my UK state pension. It's 40kbht/month income required for a marriage extension. Not what I would describe as 'far short'. (Expecting a 7% rise to be announced in August ......... so 41,200bht/month in 2024 ) But like most other people I just keep 400kbht in a Thai bank account, so no monthly income at all required.

Here's a letter from 42 climate scientists that don't believe in global warming. Link to text as it's a bit hard to read. https://www.thestreet.com/economonitor/us/an-important-letter-sent-to-the-president-about-the-danger-of-climate-change
