Yep, 3 years in the late 1990s and 2 more around 2012. Loved the cycling but in the end gave-up. Can't all be as wise as decisive as yourself.

Are all ambulance drivers volunteers? I think I've been billed for ambulances in the past. It was very little. Maybe 500 baht. Back in in 1998 in America I was billed $1,500 for a 400 meter trip. I've always been treated fairly here in regards to hospitals but I think some poster from Pataya have made some good points. It seems anything goes there and that is why it can be a blast but also hellish.

Private hospitals do because they are a business and therefore have incentives to take advantage of you. Government hospitals here are pretty good depending on the area. Phetchabun was terrible but all the others I've spent time in were great if you get a private room. Phetchabun just had too many people in the ICU and not enough doctors. Private wasn't an option in Phetchabin anyway. They seem to just want to get you out as soon as possible and aren't concerned about increasing your total bill. They are so inexpensive that the bills can usually be paid with the money in your wallet or at worst using your ATM with low daily withdrawal limits.

Lived there for 5 years and the pollution is disgusting. Where most people stay around the moat it is terrible 8 months each year. Never going back and don't know how anyone would put up with breathing smoke from the burning season and uncontrolled exhaust fumes. If you live a little outside and enjoy the outdoors, it is beautiful until the burning season starts so That might be manageable.

Is Erin Isabelle Burnett the sexiest woman alive today?
atpeace replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
She is hotter than 95%+ of women back home. Here is a picture of a Google search of "people waiting in line in England". Many pics but you get the point. I wonder what the divorced over 45 crowd here was wed to before arriving here and buying(not all) a partner. BTW, I would say Erin is much more beautiful than the women that most Farangs here have partnered up with and this can be confirmed at any Big C in Bangkok. -

So few find that hottie that looks great into her forties and fifties. Part of it personal and if the dude learns to love her aging imperfections then all good but there also are very rare universally incredibly beautiful women in their fifties. I know 🙂 -

She would beyond the wildest imagine for 99.99999% of posters here to land. Most beautiful in the world. Nope but she is beautiful. -
A friend just left after visiting for a week. He was a mess most days because he couldn't sleep. Took meds but didn't seem to help much. He only gets a couple hours sleep some nights. I can't imagine living through that and glad you moved past it. I get it meds can work and in the end it seems you made the right choice. Also seen too many life's destroyed by them and feel being your own doctor and learning as much as possible about your health is ideal.
-
Learning how to control thoughts starts with being able to see them as they popup and not after they have gained momentum. Not easy in your state but worth the effort. Just seeing them will release half the anxiety and as time passes you start letting go more and more of the random thoughts. I have only had one rough period in my life and it only lasted a few months while ending a 20 year relationship. I did the above and things slowly improved. I just came to the conclusion I might be ffkked in countless ways and why not enjoy myself until possibly the terrible outcomes my mind thought up happened. Meditation might help but isn't a necessity. Sounds like you are in a semi-bad spot and it won't be easy. Read the books Scuba listed in his post. I was only able to skim them but they were good.
-
And the odds of finding a doctor that would solve his problems? My estimation is zero and at worst a load of pills that will destroy many in the end. If your talking about the sleep issues then that might make sense but I still have my doubts and definitely would involve meds.

Never stated that. If you are a householder (not the owner) and lease to another tenant immigration requires the householder to file. If your a householder (not the owner) that doesn't lease to tenants no reason to file a TM30. See how I politely explained without insulting your intelligence. Below might help: Who must report? The requirement to report is the duty of the person in control of the premises where the non-immigrant foreigner is staying, not the foreigners themselves. Those reporting may be: • the manager of a hotel, hostel or other similar premises; • the owner, whether a natural or juristic person, of an apartment, condominium or house; • a person leasing premises used for habitation; • the head of household as designated in a house registration book (tabien bahn) for occupants of their premises; • a foreigner may be the person reporting, if that person is the owner of a condominium or of a house located on leased land. Source: https://www.dejudomlaw.com/bangkok-post-article-tm30/ BTW - read you edit posted 25 minutes after your original post. You are 100% correct as your example is in regards to the owner. Read my original reply to another poster that upset you 🙂 It had nothing to do with the owner but everything to do with the householder (not the owner).
-
Only applies if the householder leases to tenants/guests. As stated in the immigrations regs. I think that is where the issue resides. Some immigration interpret the householder (tenant) but fail to comprehend the rest of the regulation. I.e., A householder(tenant) rents a property with the intention of leasing the same property to another tenant is required to file the TM30 each time the property is leased.

Tell us about the idols of your adolescent self
atpeace replied to Jingthing's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Really didn't have any idols which is strange. Never gave it any thought and wasn't really attached to anything. Maybe I was a strange kid and now just realizing it 🙂 I did idolize my GF's body but that was more lust. Going off on a tangent. Did you watch Piers Morgan's interview with Kevin Spacey? Never idolized the man but really enjoyed his acting. Being Gay you might have a different perspective. He is an incredible actor and maybe he fooled me. I was disgusted with how the media ripped his life apart and never corrected their accusations. I was glued to YouTube for the 90+ minutes. -
So you would have refused? What do you think would have happened. My guess is that you would wish you had paid because it is your responsibility in the end if the landlord doesn't submit. Silly regulation IMO and how would we know if the land lord submitted. It is what it is and fighting would be futile and IMO completely stupid. In 25 years I have only been questioned once about my TM30 and the fine was discussed but I just smiled and asked some questions and politely told him my reasons for not filing. He told me to not do it again and I wasn't fined. If I had refused it most definitely would have ended differently.

Foreigner Caught on Video Urinating on Busy Phuket Street - video
atpeace replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Yes it is disgusting for many Thais and foreigners. I have done worse for good and bad reasons. If my family was in a car and somewhat pulled out his slong and pissed Infront of them I wouldn't cherish the moment but would get over it. I was running in a busy park last year at sunrise and out of nowhere nuclear diarrhea and most runners here in Thailand can relate to these moments. Happy that wasn't on video. My Thai friend was concerned but at the same time was doing her best not to laugh. -

Doesn't your Villa Market provide booze throughout the period. I can't remember a shop (not chain) ever not selling liquor in 20 years. -
I agree and I too live near a slow boarder crossing and very slow immigration office. We may be practically neighbors. My immigration is also located next to a nice lake where I can relax and grab a nice meal. Still a hassle IMO compared to an easy non-o for me that allows me to not worry about visa for a year. I crossed the boarder every month in the late 1990s for years and it was a 10 hour trip. It wasn't a concern then but it would be hard to go back to that type of visa. At 57 my life isn't as carefree as I was at 31 but a 60 day visa run might add a good dose of excitement to it so it might not be all bad.
-
But you have to leave the country every 60 days and go through immigration. A few hours a year to get a non-o vs at least 30 hours in travel and misc each year. Also the hassle to have to organize your life around a 60 day visa. People complain about a few minute process of online 90 day reporting but this is insanely difficult. Great option if you don't have the funds for a non-o, travel a lot, and don't mind the big hassle.

Aftermath of the Trump Assassination Attempt Staring into the Abyss
atpeace replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Yep - that is a huge fail on Trumps resume. Hard to get past but I found a way for better or worse. I get your point but I decided to move on. If you stopped the hyperbole, and stopped labeling whole groups as many here do, I think you may find some common ground with MAGA. I wonder what percent of conservatives are MAGA enthusiasts. Most MAGA IMO are just loud beer loving patriots that are having a blast. Not my thing but reminds me of a big frat party. Could make the argument I need to take them more seriously but I get a good laugh out of their shenanigans. In the end, the world is in a good place compared to even the recent past. Trump as president isn't something I lose any sleep over. In 2016 I was like you though so I can relate. -

Mae Hong Son cracks down on inappropriate tourist behaviour
atpeace replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
I was thirty two when I first went to Pai 25 years ago. Don't remember any tubing but sure it existed. Lots of rafting trips. Beautiful place and there were tourists but it wasn't anything like it is today. In the evening now it is like Disneyland. Lines and squeezing through crowds. Not my type of place in the least. -
Aftermath of the Trump Assassination Attempt Staring into the Abyss

Get real - you really think he was a republican? He probably registered as a republican when he got his drivers license and didn't even look at the box he was checking. If his Mom, who is a registered democrat, drove him that day he might have checked democrat. You make some good points on AN but you are reaching and coming off as flustered. The post you were replying to was clear and sensible and the contrast is HUGE when reading your angry rant. You are worse than what you despise and what you would do with Trump's power as a president would be frightening.
