Big Thailand visa changes from June 1
atpeace replied to snoop1130's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Maybe because they don't complain incessantly. What hoops? Takes me a couple hours in total every year to comply with all the reporting and annual visa application which is always accepted. Assume you live in Pattaya where it can be more challenging but still quite easy. -
Is Thailand really the 'Land Of Smiles' in 2024?
atpeace replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I'll be eligible to withdraw my private retirement saving in 1 years(58) so I guess I'm old. Happens so fast but don't worry, many like myself are surprised that it keeps getting better and I made some terrible decisions along the way 🙂 The best one I made was coming here in 1998 and really never leaving other than one work stint. -
Is Thailand really the 'Land Of Smiles' in 2024?
atpeace replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Bunch of grumpy old men here dreaming of the days when they were seen as superior in the eyes of Thais. Guess what they don't need us in the slightest anymore and many just don't get this. Growing old with grace and wisdom is somewhat of a rarity here on Asean Now. What type of racist fool is completely disrespectful to the locals where they choose to reside? Thais are humans therefore they can do foolish things on occasion but in comparison to some here on this thread.... As for the OP, If I was beat down by life, drunk at least once a day, and spend all day posting here as he does, I doubt he would see a smile even if anyone in pity smiled in his direction. I'm not a regular here but usually find his posts entertaining for whatever that is worth. -

Trump found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records
atpeace replied to webfact's topic in World News
I never stated he didn't commit a crime. I simply stated that his accounting misrepresentation was a misdemeanor and it was tied to other crimes which ended in a felony conviction. We are going in circles. We aren't going to get anywhere it seems. I'm tapping out - you win -
British Pensioner Struggles with Frozen Pension in Thailand

But it isn't their money as the rules clearly stipulate. Chumps ignore the rules and expect an impossible outcome. The rules though SUCK. -
British Pensioner Struggles with Frozen Pension in Thailand

Now I get why my friend returned to England. He has money but the trip the year trip was basically paid for by his his new pension value. Odd system and making citizens jump through hoops seems cruel. -
British Pensioner Struggles with Frozen Pension in Thailand

True in a sense but why would the UK require her to reside in the UK? Sure there is a good reason but I just don't see it. When you return to England is it unfrozen retroactively? If not, $300 won't cut it and the government will pay more to keep her fed and a roof over her head. The medical costs also paid by the government. Seems like a lose lose situation. -

Yes as I stated it was a misdemeanor but tied to the other crimes became a felony. You are determined to be right through misrepresentation. Your other posts and links provided but are just National Enquirer style propaganda. Do you read them before posting. To make your point about all the flip floppers, you post a link about 20( yes 20) celebs and politicians that have flip flopped. -

========== Roo Island said: Didn't even read the link. It's a felony. Shows what's wrong with America. Many aren't getting the facts. Attacking the judiciary hurts our fragile democracy significantly. What you stated - "Your not stating the truth. This might help. Falsifying accounting records is a serious crime" Falsifying the accounting records was a misdemeanor. The prosecution tied the falsifying to other crimes. Hence the felony charge. Questionable tactics but might be justifiable. I have my doubts but I'm sure you are 100%++++ sure it was justifiable. Who are the many flip floppers you're referring to? Interesting and first I have heard of this dynamic. -

Yes, better 🙂 I'll give it a read. OK, read the first part and skimmed the rest. It is not a good article and could be said about all political issues. "Dozen" "many" "some" Amazing a nation of nearly 400 million has some quacks. What is even more amazing as how some could apply these quacks logic to all Trump supporters. Hey, I don't get supporting Trump... -

It is a misdemeanor. No? Being a fool and doing it multiple times, allowed a biased prosecution to magically transform the small offense into a felony. He thought he was too powerful and he found out he can face consequences like the rest of society that IMO that he looks down upon. -

By your rules, I won't read the link as you told the previous poster. How do you get a good perspective if you only read what your side preaches? My dislike for Trump stems from what I have gleaned from info provided by both sides. You might be surprised - many conservatives aren't fools. Your definitely not part of a solution to this mess... -

There was that but I didn't feel it was more than usual. I felt the nation as a whole was proud to have its first black President and the media was chasing views like it always does. Today it is impossible to have a discussion regarding Trump without both sides becoming unglued. Puts me in bad spot because I find it hard to hate. I'm FAR from perfect but hate is something that I have only experienced a couple times. After reading this thread, it begs the question - what is so comforting in hating others? We all lose our cool and I say hateful things but I definitely don't make it a habit. -

I thought Obama's election didn't overly concern most conservatives I knew. They definitely didn't vote for him the second go around but I didn't sense hatred. Bill brought much more loathing to the forefront. What I felt started this whole extreme divisiveness was the election of Trump. Democrats and many independents like myself were butt hurt and determined to let everybody know how despicable Trump is on almost every level. I got over it in a couple months, after losing a good friend over the election, and now just put into the basket of things that will never be understood. -

OK - feel better now. Really not interested at calling the other team names and being childish. As for calling Trump names, fair game to as far as I'm concerned. It seems half of what comes out of his mouth are petty insults and most of the other rubbish is nonsense. I'll give him some credit though - he does possess a good sense of humor and some of his political believes seem sound. The woke culture the last 4 years almost had me thinking I would voter for the creep but realized I was being a fool yet again. -

He is correct about the witch hunt and you are correct that he is a criminal. Many righteous fools on this thread would do similar things to cover up an affair if they had the means to do so. We all make big mistakes but Trump does seem not to care about consequences. He just found out he isn't bullet proof. Amazed the idiot was ever elected but this conviction and the amount of money spent on the case weren't warranted. He should have simply paid the hush money from his personal account ( most of it was) and labeled the transactions with Stormy as non-disclosure payments and his payments to Cohen labeled as reimbursement payments. He foolishly didn't and prosecutors have taken a misdemeanor and through a legal maze created a felony. As for all the other past cases and future legal transgressions, this latest conviction diminishes their relevance IMO. Hope he isn't our next President but also hope an election is the reason. -

Tats aren't my thing but I don't think I make any judgements exclusively on Tattoos. Maybe in the far past and even then it was probably not justifiable. -

Seem to be the raging fad in the west for the last decade. Definitely not seeing the dying out... -
Naive??? On the original thread that was closed you were claiming the guy was killed and posting links verifying he was killed. Most people that are not naive read what their sources before posting links. You even called me disgusting for stating what actually ended up being true. You will get a lot of support here bashing Thais but that doesn't alter the reality of you being a fool. You just have a lot of company. I would rather have a few cool friends and leave the hating to your crowd.

New Tax Rules for Expats in Thailand Spark Concern
atpeace replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
atpeace reply: You seem like the type that loses it over small altercations. Chill dude - I simply disagree. There were at least 4 bouncers and two Farangs. Should have they separated and chose two bouncers to confront the Farangs? Have you ever been in the middle of a violent brawl? This was not that bad. When you have extra limbs to throw they are much more likely to connect with the faces of the disadvantage party. From what I see it ended OK and the Farangs are probably out drinking already. Maybe they moved on to another bar the same night. ======================================================== My reply to Smokin Joe's silly post from the original thread that was closed. Nailed that prediction - 555. The man told police it was no big deal and they were at another bar down the street soon after. -
