  1. Apparently he has indulged in this kind of behaviour before, if you read the post in its entirity:- "Locals from the area, familiar with the British national and his Thai wife, echoed sentiments of previous insults hurled by him in past interactions." and obviously hasn't changed his spots! He should try that kind of behaviour in the "Family Friendly" resort and see what the reaction of the locals is there!
  2. "Police from Phimai swiftly arrived at the scene, ensuring the incident didn't deteriorate into violence. However, the police have yet to confirm whether the Briton faced any legal repercussions following the altercation." And "Lieutenant Colonel Vorachai of the local police added: 'The officers at the scene calmed him down and helped to avoid any further conflict and no arrests were made." Sounds like he's a right plonker - he's played similar tricks before apparently, and is exactly the type that gives Brits a bad reputation. Give him a few days in the slammer with bread and water to sober him up and he might think twice next time!
  3. With questions like that, I have just remembered why I have you on"Ignore"
  4. "US"? Treading on thin ice there, Malcolm!
  5. What? Never! The "family friendly" resort "dangerous"? You must be thinking of somewhere else!
  6. Where does it say "machetes"? I see only a reference to fists, foreign objects, sticks and rocks!
  7. See it's affected your spelling abilities!
  8. "Worryingly, he has been on this rampage since November 2014, yet the issue remains unresolved." WHAT! Nearly 10 years and he is still a problem? I am sure that the RTP can think of some reason for detaining him - if they want to!
  9. I'm a critic - I've been there and never want to go back - Happy? So why don't the police have a presence in these two streets that you mention? I've already made a suggestion as to why, but with you seeming to be a lover of the place, maybe you know better?
  10. Becoming/has become a regular occurrence in Pattaya and Phuket:- Early hours - Ladyboy - tourist - trouble for the tourist. Where are all the police when these incidents kick off? Are they counting their "protection/tea money"? In all cases they seem conspicuous by their absence!
  11. Instant demotion or "moved to an inactive post" could well be a reason!
  12. My wife's family had some land left to them, but had to pay to get a guy from the local Land Department/Office to come and take measurements of the plots to make sure that everything was "legal and above board",(😀) and everybody that was a beneficiary was to get a certificate of ownership which could take a couple of months. After 6 months, no body got a certificate and apparently the paperwork had been "lost". So they had to get the guy from the Land Department/Office to come and do the job again, and guess what - they had to pay him again - although they had "lost" the paperwork!
  13. My thai wife has a relation who wanted to join the Police Force. His parents said to him "Sorry, but it costs a lot of money to join the Police Force"
  14. Afew years ago, a mate of mine got stopped at a checkpoint for not wearing a helmet whilst riding a motorbike. He was told to join the queue, and he said "But why are there 2 queues?" The policeman replied "One is the 500 baht queue and the other is the 300 baht queue". He asked "What's the difference?" The policeman explained "If you join the 500 baht queue you will get a ticket which you have to take to the local police station. There you will have to wait for a couple of hours, and then you will pay your fine and get a receipt". My friend asked "What happens at the 300 baht queue?" He was told "You pay your 300 baht, do not get a receipt and you can go on your way". Needless to say, he chose the 300 baht queue which was substantially longer that the 500 baht queue! P.S. This was not in Phuket, but another tourist destination!
  15. "....the drug dogs in Heathrow would have probably smelled that much weed in Samui" Heathrow dogs must have good noses! 🙂
  16. And the way things are going it will soon be one in five!
  17. Unfortunately, not all Brits are "light skinned" these days!
  18. How about the buffalo? Is that OK?
  19. Not always - they sound like babies crying when 2 males cross each others path, or a female is in heat!
  20. I've been here for 20 years, but admittedly, do not travel much! I was surprised however to see a dog and cats roaming the corridors of our local Government Hospital! The type of dogs you refer to are what used to be referred to as "lap dogs" as they were mostly kept by ladies for their "pleasure" - mollycoddled yappy little rat like creatures that can hardly be called "dogs". The ones I am talking about are the larger dogs that are allowed to run around freely at night, forming gangs and alliances and fighting for territory etc - soi dogs do the same but these dogs supposedly have "owners".
  21. "According to the video, as tensions rose, the group of ladyboys engaged in physical assaults against the tourist, knocking him to the ground." Mob handed as usual - cowards!
  22. Have to agree! In the West the dog is treated as one of the family, and in many cases, have their own "bed" in the house. How many Thais do you know allow their "pets"/ dogs to sleep in the house? Mostly they are put outside and left free to wander, bark, howl or get into fights over territory with other dogs that have been forced to live outside. I am originally from the UK, and we had a Labrador that due to us both working, had to leave all day in our sizeable back garden, but it was tended to and cared for at lunchtimes by a relative. Unbeknown to us, as soon as we left the house it started barking. Rather than bring it to our attention our friendly neighbours reported it to the police, and the consequent visit by them left us in no doubt that our dog was disturbing the peace and we had to get something done about it, or the dog would be impounded! The solution was simple - we got another dog so they kept each other company and the barking ceased. It may be worth noting that in the UK you never hear dogs barking at night (for any length of time) or the owners will be told to do something about it, or their dog(s) taken from them
  23. I used to be a dog lover, but 5 years of living over a stream from a Thai lady with 5 dogs, one of which barks and howls constantly at all hours of the night for no apparent reason other than it can changed my mind. And yes , it is probably the owner that is to blame for not keeping her dogs under control, but she has a shop of sorts adjacent to the "space/yard" where the dogs are confined (I don't think she actually lives there) and says they are "guard dogs"!!! I don't like barking dogs any more, especially when they constantly disturb my sleep !!!
