I'm pretty sure that my friend (as you say) interptreted the situation correctly. I also know of at least 2 other incidents where the Police tried to pin the blame on the foreigner when the Thai was at fault. If I was being cynical, I would think that the Police were trying to get a backhander from the foreigner, as I have been told that Thais on motorbikes don't have any money! 🙂 P.S. I am not saying that the foreigner will ALWAYS be blamed - only that it does happen, and that in 3 instances that I know of - certainly not "bar stool bull*hit"!

In a shocking incident in Kanchanaburi, western Thailand, a tree felled by an illegal logger crashed onto a passing bus, injuring eleven people, including three British teens. No nationality mentioned - just "foreigners", so they can't have been Brits!

I got told a few years ago that when there is an accident involving a Thai and a foreigner, it's always the foreigner's fault as if he/she hadn't been there in ther first place the accident wouldn't have happened ! A friend of mine was on a motor bike taxi which was involved in an accident, and the motor bike taxi rider/driver wanted my friend to pay for the damage, as if he hadn't hired him, the accident wouldn't have happened!!! Needless to say, my friend didn't pay, and walked away! But these days, the chances of the rider being armed and aggressive, or having a bunch of Thai "mates" to back him up seem quite high!

So why has it taken the authorities 3 months to "take an interest"?

Not very clear - I see no badges or uniforms - brown or otherwise - all I see are 4 people sitting at a table presumably having refreshments!

I am that guy, and stand by what I said - I did NOT say that 90% of the crime in Thailand happened in Pattaya - I said "it would appear that..............", and as I said in another post, I find this article a refreshing change from the usual "Family Friendly Resort" type - in other words - getting down to the "nitty gritty"!

At last - a post that gets down to the "nitty gritty" of Pattaya instead of the "Family friendly resort" posts that we are used to seeing!
