  1. 😉 I presume you are American:- 😉 GOBBLEDEGOOK | English meaning - Cambridge Dictionary Cambridge Dictionary https://dictionary.cambridge.org › dictionary › gobbled... language, especially used in official letters, forms, and statements, that seems difficult or to mean nothing because you do not understand it:.
  2. ??? I thought this was an English language forum - not "Gobbledegook"?
  3. Another misinformed p**t - or an attempt at sarcasm!
  4. "You wanted 'em - now you got 'em" - I blame TAT!
  5. I'm pretty sure that my friend (as you say) interptreted the situation correctly. I also know of at least 2 other incidents where the Police tried to pin the blame on the foreigner when the Thai was at fault. If I was being cynical, I would think that the Police were trying to get a backhander from the foreigner, as I have been told that Thais on motorbikes don't have any money! 🙂 P.S. I am not saying that the foreigner will ALWAYS be blamed - only that it does happen, and that in 3 instances that I know of - certainly not "bar stool bull*hit"!
  6. "It might be that the moto-rider was simply trying it on" "...your friend put two and two together and made five" Same, same but different?
  7. In a shocking incident in Kanchanaburi, western Thailand, a tree felled by an illegal logger crashed onto a passing bus, injuring eleven people, including three British teens. The dramatic accident occurred as the tourists were en route to the popular Erawan Waterfall. Police officers from Lat Ya Police Station rushed to the scene on Highway No. 3199 following the incident, which was reported around 10 am. They discovered that a large wormwood tree had crashed onto the bus, shattering the windshield and causing panic among the 36 passengers inside, most of whom were foreign tourists, reported LIam Buckler for MIrror. So it would appear that most of the 36 passengers were foreign tourists, but only 3 could be identified by nationality - BRITS!!! Why are "3 British teenagers" particularly relevant to the article?
  8. "qouting the bullsh1t" Spell check kaput? My first paragraph was meant to point out a familiar tale told by "oldies" to "newbies", and the second paragraph was to point out that sometimes it does actually happen!
  9. Did you read the second paragraph of my post?
  10. No nationality mentioned - just "foreigners", so they can't have been Brits!
  11. I got told a few years ago that when there is an accident involving a Thai and a foreigner, it's always the foreigner's fault as if he/she hadn't been there in ther first place the accident wouldn't have happened ! A friend of mine was on a motor bike taxi which was involved in an accident, and the motor bike taxi rider/driver wanted my friend to pay for the damage, as if he hadn't hired him, the accident wouldn't have happened!!! Needless to say, my friend didn't pay, and walked away! But these days, the chances of the rider being armed and aggressive, or having a bunch of Thai "mates" to back him up seem quite high!
  12. So why has it taken the authorities 3 months to "take an interest"?
  13. Not very clear - I see no badges or uniforms - brown or otherwise - all I see are 4 people sitting at a table presumably having refreshments!
  14. Can someone please explain what's happening in the photo, and its relevance to the story?
  15. "............(such as other drivers on the road)" That goes without saying!
  16. "In a coordinated operation, the Pattaya Tourist Police, Chonburi Immigration Bureau, and Chonburi Social Development and Human Security Office arrested 20 foreign women suspected of engaging in prostitution along Pattaya Beach." Can't have foreigners doing jobs reserved for Thais, can we? Note that there were no Thai women arrested in this operation - not one!
  17. But is it not a "Famiy Friendly Resort"?
  18. But, but, but, :- "Authorities are committed to apprehending the culprits and bringing them to justice in accordance with the law." Maybe that comment has been copied and pasted as I have just done!
  19. You forgot the Russkies? They're doing their fair share of trouble making, or did you only think to have English speaking "bad boys" on your list?
  20. I am that guy, and stand by what I said - I did NOT say that 90% of the crime in Thailand happened in Pattaya - I said "it would appear that..............", and as I said in another post, I find this article a refreshing change from the usual "Family Friendly Resort" type - in other words - getting down to the "nitty gritty"!
  21. At last - a post that gets down to the "nitty gritty" of Pattaya instead of the "Family friendly resort" posts that we are used to seeing!
  22. FAFO? I hate unexplained acronyms!
  23. You did right by putting in the inverted commas - they ar thugs - pure and simple, but it sounds like the Russky deserved his comeuppance - "You wanted 'em - now you got 'em!"
