You have some valid points but for me and many other expats, they just don't seem that important.  My Thai drivers license allows me to forego having a passport for most things I care about, though I can better understand the usefulness in certain situations that you describe.

The thing is though...I looked into getting one when the MorProm app required it, and it was just very confusing, lots of annoying paperwork, house book, dealing with local government offices which I couldn't even locate, and so on and so forth.  It's just that I'm here in Thailand to enjoy being here, not deal with red tape and bureaucracy.  I get all of that I can stomach just from the Imm office LOL!

    Anyway, thanks for clarifying things.

I'm very sorry if I insulted you. Let's hope you get your first jab now...

Well why don't you inform us of all the wonderful things you can do with a Pink card that make it indispensable for an expat who already has a Thai driver's license (which most long-term expats already have), instead of hurling personal insults?

Sorry if this reply don't pertain to this thread more than I reported on June 7.  Success with Mor Prom and vaccination jab 1, and also appointment for the second jab August 31.

This is my experience what you can do with the Pink Card. And is seem to be accepted more and more as times go by. Local discrepancies might occur...

    • Admission fees for national parks, theme parks other attractions like museum's same as a Thai.
    • Retirement discount where it's applicable. Restaurant's, Travel
    • ID instead of passport:  at banks, Domestic travel (flights), Phone Carriers like TRUE DTAC AIS, Hotel reservations ,check in.  etc.
    • No need for Residence Certificate from Immigration , support document at visa extensions, booking appointment's at hospitals etc.
    • Renewal of Drivers license at DLT and you get the ID number on the license.
    • I also use it when Thai people need name and address (easy to read and write for them)

Im sure there are even more applications. Trust me it works.

I never carry my Passport at home any more, only the ID and that has been sufficient to 90%...

Just to put this to rest, pink cards have always been practically useless for most expats.  The only reason they became important recently is becuase the government made them the only option for vaccination registration for the failed Morprom app, and did so intentionally to discourage most expats from using MorProm for registration.

It's pretty card to have in your wallet but other than that, not worth having for most expats.  Case closed.

If you don't know what you are talking about , just keep quiet. Ignorance is nothing to brag about.. There are numerous application where the pink card can be used...

  4. Why don't you guys give this topic a rest , It had become to many TV. experts in the virological field during recent months, millions of doses are given around the world and all vaccins has been developed rapidly for emergency use, and common sense tells that incidents happens, and that happened even with vaccin that has been in use for a very long period of time. The only way to minimize the effects of Covid 19 is that every one should take the vaccin instead of scare people around you. Be happy and get your jabs and take care of your selves and we might se the end of the pandemic sooner than later...

I'm curious how you ended up getting vaccinated at a private hospital (PMH) through the MorProm app instead of a public hospital such as Bangkok Hospital Pattaya (which is the only designated hospital on the InterVac list).  It is just another confusing aspect of all of this.  Do you have any ideas on this?

Well I'm as surprised as you are , pure luck I believe, until yesterday I thought Pattaya Memorial was government hospital. Maybe this was a test run from there side to check the logistics...

  6. 100% Vaccination Success at Pattaya Memorial Hospital. I registered May 3 on Mor Prom App (over 60 and Pink ID card) got an appointment call on Saturday for vaccination today June 7 instead of June 9 , Went to the hospital 7:30 was number 37 in line got in a 8 AM to the first of 6 stations. 1. Registration and blod pressure, 2. Appointment check and printout of registration information, 3. Health screening and blood pressure, 4.Signing of documents,  5.Vaccination with AZ vaccin, r.Appointment card for second vaccin shot and resting for 30 minutes, Go home. Overall experience , Extremely well organized wonderful proffessionel personell at the hospital, the took really care of everyone. I think I was the only farang there at least between 8-10 am . Now just waiting for jab 2 , 27 of September... I guess I had a look of luck and wish the same luck to the rest of you...

  7. So the story is that priority 1. people between 18-59 and 2. people above 60 and people with underlying illness . I registered on the  Mor Prom app. May 5 and got a slot June 9 in Pattaya, does anyone know if it's still valid appointments for those that manage to register before the app was changed to make it impossible to register. According to Bangkok post May 26 the booked appointments are still valid, but that was a long time ago in the flip flop environment we live in...

    Great to hear it.

    A few questions though please.

Did you register with passport or did you have a Thai id number from pink card or Thai social security number?

Were you previously registered there or did you walk in cold?

You had to go in person?

I have a Pink ID card which I got about 5 years ago, without that I don’t think it would been possible , and there is not an option with a passport or DL  which make me to think immediately about all those people like you that not have an pink ID.   If  I where you I would just walk in there ASAP and try to sort it out.. Good luck... By the way my Thai wife did it on the Line app...

Plenty of reports - also official reports on Thaivisa - of foreigners successfully registering and getting a date for the vaccination, clearly no rubbish talk. I am registered, but could not yet get a date on the hospitals available for Pattaya area, the error says "hospital not open for registration", will have to either wait another day or so or drive by one of the hospitals to investigate.

P.S: just seen the above post by @newnative that he got his date in the government hospital, so most definitely the private hospitals are not yet ready/allowed to register.

Try Pattaya Memorial Hospital at Pattaya Klang / Soi Bukhao , I got a time slot there June 9

can you please clarify for me?

I am retired so no social security work permit etc.

    Spouse visa.

Pink ID but that I am repeatedly told is a foreigner id not a Thai id

I would rather like a Thai id so any help in how to get would be appreciated

Pink ID is a Thai ID for foreigners , with a 13 digit number where the two fist digits tells that you are a foreigner , you can get that but first you need to get a yellow tabien ban as far as I know , at least  I had to to it 2015.
