Lot of whining about your personal situation... some facts:

    • the situation for the Thai people is the same. While they can sign-up using the app, it is completely unclear how they will get selected, when they might get their shot and which vaccine will be used for them. Here you go, you are in the same boat as the Thai - which you obviously don't like...
    • not having a Thai-ID is a deliberate choice of yours. I personally have a Thai-ID, but I am also outside the SS system, never worked in Thailand. Takes a bit of time and energy, but it seems you never invested that time and energy to get your pink ID card. The ID is a valid ID which I used to open bank accounts, get SIM cards, register in apps, all without the need of my home country passport.
    • both Bumrungrad in Bangkok as well as Bangkok Hospital Pattaya have informed me through mail (as I am registered as patient with both) , that I can sign up for the Thai government vaccine program, BUT the same way as the Thai people: No choice of the vaccine that will be used, priority given through health status and age same as the Thai people. So you should stop whining and go to the next private hospital and sign up for the vaccine program, they will tell you exactly how and what and when and where.
    • Finally, your lack of information seems to be a lack of looking. If you would sign up in Facebook to the group "PR Thai Government" (https://www.facebook.com/watch/thailandprd/), you would find a lot of official information, including information about how to register for the vaccination program through the line app "mor prom", nearby hospitals, village health volunteers or "health promotion hospitals"

just hanging around waiting and whining will not do you any good

I signed up today as an expat using my Thai ID No. (Pink Card) Never been working in Thailand and over 60 years old with no underlying illness. June 9th is the day. My wife is Thai and she was not accepted because under 60 years old . Location Pattaya

If entry to Chonburi in uncontrolled, but exit is restricted, then eventually everyone will be stuck in Chonburi.  It's like a black hole ..... with a beach.

Struggling to understand how this helps to control COVID.

This is like the old ad slogan for the pest product “Cockroach Motel” in the US “You check in once but you never check out” ...

They are nto requiring people driving alone to wear a mask inside their car, that would be ridiculous.

They must be complete morons with such ideas even if there are 7 people in the car , a car with closed windows is a confined space , why not tell people not to breath...

In another order issued overnight aimed at freeing up more beds in the country's emerging network of COVID field hospitals, the Ministry of Public Health ruled that COVID patients with no symptoms or minor symptoms can be allowed to serve the last few days of their quarantine recovering at home.

The order means a COVID patient with no symptoms would be allowed to leave after 10 days instead of 14 days, and instead spend the remaining days at home. A similar arrangement would be allowed for COVID patients with mild symptoms, once they have progressed in their field hospital stay and been symptom free for 24-48 hours.

Under the government's current policy, anyone testing positive for COVID is required to be assigned to a hospital bed or alternate hospital facility, such as the makeshift field hospitals, until they have recovered. Under the government's rules, only patients with no symptoms or mild symptoms -- who still can be contagious with COVID -- are supposed to be assigned to the field hospital facilities.

People with mild symptoms should just stay at home PERIOD. Why occupie  hospital bed’s for minor symptoms ,  and stay at home until you don’t have any symptoms for 3-5 days.

  5. There is only one way to get out of this. Start vaccinate people 24h x 7 , and do it quick, let people with mild symptoms stay at home and recuperate, no need for a hospital bed . Only those with severe symptoms should be admitted to hospital, this will give the nurses, doctors and healthcare professionals  some breathing space and  let them care for those in need, let people live and allow alcohol at restaurants, beaches etc. as it is the mosts important income for the business owners, and stop with this ridicules bans after a certain business hours , Covid is amongs us 24h a day. The government seem to kill everything for the most majority of the Thai population and also the rest of us. It is a shame that such proven incompetence exist 2021...  and forget to open up Thailand if you  can’t execute vaccinations to the vast majority of the population with start immediately...  People want there lives back and they can’t wait forever or maybe even ever. Covid will not disappear...

Pattaya: The New Walking Street - so much more than just cable burying, says mayor

An upbeat Mayor Sontaya Khunpluem in Pattaya has said that the work being done on Walking Street is so much more than just cable burying.

He's going to transform the street into something "suay ngaam" (beautiful) that the resort can be proud of.

While he stopped just short of calling it the eighth wonder of the modern world he was buoyant with optimism.

The road surface was going to be completely renewed, he said and that included the drain and pipe covers.

No stone would be left unturned (well, you know what we mean) to upgrade the ENTIRE length of the street.

    Not just that.

A study is being done to install a domed roof over the street that will keep everyone dry and enable all sorts of activities to happen there.

All that is missing are the tourists, and those will be back later in the year in their familiar droves.

For now the mayor encouraged visitors to take pictures of the street as it looks at the moment.

Then come back at the end of the year and take some more.

The before and afters will really show what he's talking about!

Mayor Sontaya was talking to Sophon Cable TV who published pictures of him giving a thumbs up by a large hole with brightly clad ladies on the left and officials in more somber tones on the right.

Critics online - especially expats in Pattaya on Thaivisa - have expressed a degree of skepticism about the plans.

One or two even unkindly liked the mayor's efforts to putting lipstick on a pig.

    Just you wait!

This is going to be a nail in the coffin for the main part of tourism here,  why remove the most famous tourist attraction in Pattaya? Don't try to fix something that's not broken. Pattaya city always making decisions that has no grounds in reality, it's always based on speculations. I guess some one has looking into a crystal ball and look at TAT's forecast for 2024.  Pattaya will never be the same, and try to copy Miami or Dubai is something that is unreachable and ridicules. Put the money elsewhere where it's needed...

  9. OP you have to understand they just want to help and it's in their nature and they are so proud to show that they can , the same thing happened to me two weeks ago when I bought a new Ipad Air (2020) It's not a big deal at least you know that the product is not Dead on Arrival (DOA) , if you want to set it up you can reinstall when you get home. IMO give them some love instead and move on instead of being grumpy over a non issue.

But the yellow ones don't have much of a smell. I'm sure he has others that are more red and that do have a nice fragrance. But that part of the wall currently has no flowers.

You could always get some bougainvillea (with or without cat):

Pattaya bars warned not to flout COVID-19 rules by masquerading as restaurants

    pattaya-city.jpg

Banglamung district officials tasked with limiting the spread of the coronavirus are warning bars in Pattaya not to flout rules limiting the sale of alcohol.

After Banglamung district, including Pattaya, was officially declared a ‘highly controlled zone’ on Wednesday, bars, nightclubs and restaurants were ordered to close until further notice.

By Friday, officials had given restaurants a last minute reprieve, allowing them to re-open and even serve alcohol to people ordering food.

However, officials have become aware of some beer bars trying to flout the new rules by masquerading as restaurants in order to serve alcohol to customers.

On Friday, officials reiterated the rules regarding restaurants and the sale of alcohol, which can only be ordered with food.

Officials have said they will be on the lookout for beer bars which claim to be restaurants and warned owners they face severe penalties - 100,000 baht fine and up to 1 year in jail - for breaching the regulations.

The news comes after a beer bar in Jomtien was shut down by district officials who said it was claiming to be a restaurant in order to serve alcohol.

Also on Friday, public health officials in Chonburi announced 51 new cases of COVID-19.

Of the new cases, 37 were in Banglamung district, while Sriracha (11), Ban Bueang (2) and Panat Nikhom (1) also reported cases.

The total number of reported cases in Chonburi now stands at 211, 163 of which are in Banglamung district.

Why can't the do anything about the fresh & night markets instead , crowed to a maximum here in Pattaya every day, and was't that how it all started west of Bangkok, the seafood don't contain Covid 19,  it is the people in crammed crowded spaces that makes it dangerous. Before they come up with crazy rules , please think and think again. TIT

I totally agree with you, all of the other four looked better in my opinion, I would have voted on all 30. I don't think the other 29 would have any objections. ????????

How easy is it to drive from the ferry landing on Ko Chang to the resort areas on the island? I've read and seen videos that the terrain is quite mountainous in places and that the road is not in good condition in others. During non-rainy season, will a standard sedan have any difficulty getting around the island?

Also, is there a secure mainland parking lot at the ferry terminal to leave a car while staying on the island?

Bring the car you will need it , the roads are  very good but there are many hills so drive carefully. You will  for sure enjoy the island, the west side is the most beautiful with many hotels beaches and restaurants...

  14. Just a quick information from today November 3rd. Make sure you have all paperwork required, two copies of every document. What surprised me was the following (See below) that seem to be a specific interpretation at Chonburi Immigration.

    Finacials:

I had an Income affidavit from the consulate stating my yearly pension. Not enough, they also require full documentation from the bank , statement for a year , with transfers every month exceeding the 40.000 THB req , copies of your bank book updated the same day as application.

    Marriage documents:

If your wife has change her surname to yours, she need to bring copies of documentation regarding the name change from the local ampur, the documents do not to be updated as the kor ror 2 or 22.

    Insurance:

Not required att all, apparently they have asked for previously but not anymore.

Total Experience. Very smooth, the staff were very nice, joking and smiling, as they should. We should have a home visit within 2 weeks , and should prepare to have a witness standing by.

    Summary:

If everything is ok, pick up the extension stamp stamp Dec 3.

Hope this info could be helpful to others.

The rest of requirement as pdf below provided by UbonJoe.

Ninety day reports are not required until after October 31st.

Not sure how immigration will handle the large number of people that may need to do them or when the 90 days will start.

Immigration was turning people away who were under the amnesty or short stay extensions before when they tried to report.

Perhaps best to try and do a report now if they will accept it.

I went to Jomtien Immigration yesterday , to do my 90 day reporting, business as usual , it tok me about 2 minutes, never seen that place so empty. ,maybe about 20% of their full capacity

6000 for insurance ,where at ,what company im 79.

I don't think you will find that at all, at the age of 79 , everyone over 75 and up would probably have a problem to get an Insurance. I'm my sixties and I pay 55K THB at that's in low cost insurance. You also need  covid insurance coverage $100.000 and that is mandatory if you fly in to Thailand, the price is depending on the length of stay.

  18. Dear all, I'm on my forth extension of stay based upon an O-A Visa. This is up for extension during November. I attempt to switch from retirement to marriage extension. There was a rumor from someone here (Pattaya/Jomtien) that you still needed insurance hence the original Visa was an O-A. Does anyone on this forum have experienced  such requirement at Jomtien Immigration or somewhere else in Thailand ?
