Well as long as you don't drink or smoke I guess the taxes are ok then..
But sugary soft drinks are going up too.

So called "quality tourists" tend not to be stupid over prices, afterall you don't get rich by throwing your money away. They also tend to be the major wine drinkers. So now holidays in Lao, Viet and Cambodia will profit. As for Pattaya - RIP.

Good jolly for the Brits, but I doubt if they will change the Thais way of thinking, or perhaps lack of it !!!

Actually that was Scotty not Spock.

More dodgy reporting from Reuters. NATO is the key NOT the EU.

Bit late in the season. This should have been done around April / May.

An article on Thaivisa a week or 2 ago mentioned the Americans were keen to export the bits of pigs that their home market doesn't want, e.g. heads. Seems logical, that's why they'll be cheap.

CSR for Thai companies would be an unbelievable jump forward even if when operating at home, but when operating in their poorer neighbours is not going to happen, ever !!!

Well at least the fumes should have smelt sweeter than most fires. But seriously, with such a large amount of flammable substances stored were there any alarms or sprinklers ? THAILAND probably not !

Oh dear, oh dear ! Yet another waste management problem. Don't they ever learn ???

What part of the "dump" are you living in? Bangkok, Pattaya...?
Upcountry here the countryside is clear of unsightly garbage and the main town is very clean.
Not where I live it ain't.

Yet more biased reporting from the press. The Guardian and Reuters joining together to feed us more pro EU "news".

Does this mean rival temples will come up with similar for other football teams. OMG !!!

"Some inmates had brought the infection from outside". So there is more than 2 then ?????

Just raising the cost by 100baht a tonne is not enough and without serious efforts to reduce the amount of garbage generated it's "pissing in the wind".

The critical thing with landfills is conpaction. All the disposal sites I've seen in Thailand have no plan to maximise the compaction ratio and yet air space in a disposal site is the most valuable asset.

It's an island, so start by banning all plastic bags everywhere on the island.

41% of Thai males smoke !!! In my part of Thailand, deepest rural Isaan, it's more like 75%.

Perhaps she'll wait for a certain event in October to be over before she and her brother appear poking fun at the junta.

Thailand the HUB of falls from tall buildings.

If the Thai military want to join the "arms trade" then it would help if their weapons were " battle proven " and not just against civilians.

Only just drafted a plan ! Bit late me thinks !

How many are actual tourists and how many are just in transit ?. Also do they count border runners as new tourists ?

This divorce is turning nasty, which is what happens when you employ lawyers.
music on Thai radio

When I first came to live in Thailand my local Isaan radio station played some songs in English. Since the coup there seems to be a total lack of such songs. OK but this got me thinking, what songs in English would you think are most unlikely to be heard on Thai radio ? E.g.
"The times they are a changin" Bob Dylan
" Leaving on a jet plane" Peter , Paul and Mary .
Could be lots more. Any ideas ?
