The fact that Cyanide has been found, or rather there is evidence that people have been exposed to Cyanide, says it all.

What are "metal deposits" ? One might assume it was scrap metal, but if that was the case it should have been fairly simple to recover it from the water. Some heavy metals like Copper Zinc and Nickel are quite soluble, others like Lead are not. So why were the "deposits" left in the water and what made the heavy metals dissolve ?

If she really wanted to screw the junta then she would appear at court on Monday morning.

How many of those millions of "tourists" are actually working in Bangkok going back to visit relatives ? So not actually true tourists !!!

Just who are "the committee of experts" to approve the EHIA ? Surely the approval should have been by the government department responsible for environmental protection. But I guess that would mean a Minister having to put his name to it !!!!!

Burning of waste, whether "hazardous" or not is potentially dangerous because of chemicals such as dioxans. High temperatures need to be constant, exhaust gasses need to be scrubbed and emissions to the environment, gaseous and liquid need to be monitored for harmful chemicals. Ah but .............. !

Waste disposal in Thailand ! Bit of an oxymoron. The better word is "dumping".

The benefits of using the vast National Lottery monies to help British sport are very apparent as they keep on getting the medals. Just a pity Thailand doesn't do the same. Just where does the profit from the Thai lottery go ?

One would like to suggest dear general, it might be a good time to retire and put all your hard earned money in some safe overseas bank account.

Copper is very toxic to many plants. A level greater than 200ppm in the soil will have a significant effect on any plants grown. Just lucky that it's the wet season and the water in the stream isn't needed for irrigation. As for fish ! - don't eat any caught nearby for at least a month.

So, hoards of Chinese to be followed by hoards of Indians. Oh dear oh dear !!!

The "planners" should be forced to use only buses for a month before they propose any changes.

I guess someone doesn' t quite understand what ISO 9001 certification means. Still, it's a start of an improvement !

Any understanding of what happened in both World Wars is sadly lacking in Thai schools and watching American movies only confuses the kids more. Might have been different if Britain had been allowed to occupy Thailandj in '45. However there can be no excuse for Chinese, whose country suffered terribly at the hands of the Japanese !

Not just that one beach. Everywhere in Thailand litter and wastewater are major problems. As for sewage works and landfills, well just visit one or two, that's IF you can find any.

The arms trade has no morals !

Looks like they thought "all was done and dusted", just the Irish to beat. Ooops !

The "elite" need a strong Baht so they can get their money out to a "safe haven" , but in the meantime agricultural produce for export has suffered a dramatic fall in value for the farmers.
