This was exactly my point. What measure are in place to enforce the second PCR test/5th day stay in hotel? Travelers has no option to dodge first test, when coming out of the airport, travelers are funneled into their respective airport transfer arrangements/hotels/first PCR test. If a traveler ignored the second stay, there is almost no procedure in place to ensure compliance?

This is how our strategists work: They looked at the largest group that visited in 2019. Chinese - make a bubble, forgot to check out if China would let their people out! India being the second largest population, would have been a natural target group. but forgot that most of them have been accepted by Dubai with limited conditions for the past 12 months and there is a smaller slice left to come here. This is what happens when strategists take ONLY our needs into consideration, and not looking at what the counterparty wants. Someone has already got their calculators out. X & Y number of Chinese and Indians, Z number of PCR tests @ 3000 a pop, P number of 1 day T & G, Q number of 5th day T & G. ZZZ number infections and hospitEls beds, fully occupied All in all - 5 trillion baht opportunity. Lets make a committee to study and travel to find more

- Insurance companies will not cover cost of mild asymptomatic cases - international travelers will be quarantined if tested positive (irrespective of mild or severe) on day 1 or day 5 - international travelers MUST buy insurance as a pre-condition to qualify entering TH. Conclusion: Such insurance is just a TAX on Intl travelers

These wealthy foreigners have to stay at an SHG** hotels every monday and thursday of every week of residence here. They have to perform PCR test every week at the most high revenue yielding hospitals. They should also buy an insurance to cover, where premiums would be calculated as a % of their net investment here.

Millionaires are more careful on how they spend their money. Else, they cant continue to be millionaires. They will spend higher amounts, if they see value in such expenditure. most that i have heard of dont throw money away. Why would they want to pay 2000-5000 baht for a PCR test, knowing most countries offer the same for less than 500baht or some even for free. on top of that, 2-3 X room rates. That too a double dip! Good Luck to TAT's tourists arrival estimates for the month. yes, those of us who are living here, may utilize T & G 2.0. Tourists should be desperate to walk through this booby trap

This hotel was going for < 1000 a night. With test & go its 5k. Mind you, CM hotels can only be used for 5th day as there are no direct international flights to CM and hence no airport transfer required. So its a night's stay, PCR test (2k @ lanna) and at best 2 meals for 100baht a piece... so the room rate went from 1000 a night to 2800 a night in T & G! or am i missing something here?

I am struggling to find hotels offering days 1 & 5 in one booking. I can only find one day bookings and cheapest is 5k, and for a reasonably ok hotel, thats closer to 10k a night. https://thaiest.com/blog/aq-hotel-1-night-packages Even if one accepts the price for first night, as that includes airport transfer etc, I struggle to find justification for 5th day test & go @ 5k and climbing to 15k for acceptable hotels.

I was looking up for new test & go - options starting 1/Feb. Pricing appears prohibitory. First test & go @ bangkok seems start in the region of 5000+ and goes up to 2-4 times that for a reputed hotel. The shocker is the second test & go pricing. - There does not seem to be any test & go in pattaya or chiang mai for less than 5000 baht. This is for the 2 - 2.5 star category. - one night stay & PCR (included, i assume) in a 4 star & above goes in the range of 12-15,000 baht @ pats or CNX. Even if PCR tests are being charged @ 3000baht, that accounts for a room charge of 9-10,000 baht a night! If this is not meant to discourage travelers, what else could it be? At above rates, the new 'test & go' appears to be more expensive than a 7 day sandbox stay in mid-range hotel in Phuket!!
