If that's the case then and you can't abide with Thai law then off you go back to the UK. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like it if the UK became chock a block with migrants that are there illegally.

I have a big one too. Thats quite funny. No I am in the UK now cant you read? I will continue and my successful path thank you and stay for 8 months in Thailand every year. Plus scchhh I have a secret, I get my State Pension Index Linked as well.

"Even mentions doing them at police station.."

Well going back quite a few years I was sure an expat friend talked about doing it a police station.

The mariage visa definitely seems the way to go. I could opt not to draw so much down on the private penion and/or invested savings leaving more in the pot for a rainy day. I was concerned about draining more than I actually need then leaving it senselessly sitting in a Thai current account.

My wife is a nurse so has a pretty good salary, for a Thai.

In fact if I can go off topic again, my wife works for a Government hospital. I understand as a spouse of a Government employee I am entitled to health care in Thailand. Anybody else married to a Thai Government employee can confirm this?

I am totally confused about your post and the mention of the police station. Once you have an extension of stay based on Retirement, you report every 90 days by onr of the methods mentioned no police station. Also it makes no difference how you obtain the extension. I pay 13k baht and do a 90 day report thats it. No I do not have 800k in a Thai bank or transfer 65k a month into Thailand. I prefer to keep my mo ey and my income in the UK.

Have just seen the post about the influx of Indian tourists. Are they congregated in any particular area of town?

I find it strange that you found reason to mention Indian tourists at all. Other than them having different culture and taste to what they consider a good night out, they are normal people and not aliens from another planet. A very racist comment I must say.

  4. I have been back in the UK since May and have not once worn a mask. In fact its only a rare occurance that you see anyone wearing one. UK infection rates are falling and have been for the last month. In fact I cant remember the last time I heard anyone in the UK speak of Covid. My Thai wife is here with me and also does not wear a mask. When we return to Thailand in October if it is compulsory of course I will wear one, if not I have no intention of doing so even if everyone else is wearing one.

Don't get the impression that he was complaining about being prevented from leaving the UK but rather more about the cumbersome bureaucratic hurdles with which he would have been faced until recently in being able to re-enter Thailand (relating, I strongly suspect, to nonsensical Test & Go procedures and COVID insurance requirements, coming as they did on top of the need for a Certificate Of Entry initially or Thailand Pass subsequently - which, in turn. necessitated the conversion of supporting docs from PDF to JPG formats, with some having to be carefully cropped as well). In other words, a lockdown in all but name imposed by the powers-that-be here in LOS, I think.

No I think he is referring to being locked down and prevented from leaving the UK, which was totally untrue.

Having been effectively locked down in one way or another in the UK since early 2020, a return to Thiailand is now possible.

Unfortunately you are one of the people who believed the lockdown and no travel nonsense. At no time was I stopped coming to Thailand. I came here for 7 months in Oct 19, Oct 20 and Nov 21. Granted I had to do quarantine on arrival, but I wasnt stopped from leaving the UK.

I am soon to be returning to Thailand with no visa, after letting my Retirement visa expire while in UK, an shocked as to how difficult/ uncertain it is to get a visa to enter Thailand.

Sorry I dont see your point. You can enter Thailand visa exempt 30 days and then extend for 30 days. You can then choose to obtain a Non O based on Retirement and get your extension of stay again as long as you meet the 800k requirements.

Its not hard to get a visa to come to Thailand the e system although not straight forward is easy once you understand it. Most of the things they ask you to provide are not actually required as its a generic application. Most people dont have issues.

Unfortunately you are hankering over how things were a long time ago, things change and move on so should you. Being older is no excuse.

  8. My wife was telling me that her Aunt had to take out a quick loan for 100k baht and she is payinh 10k a month. I said thats not to bad she will soon pay that off. That was until she told me that its 10k a month without paying back any of the 100k. So basically she pays 10k a month until she pays back the 100k in one lump sum. Thats criminal.

  9. Dont complicate the issue. This is Thailand. Many people have moved away to different locations. Many children have found work and their parents need them to continue working. Many will have got pregnant and now have a baby. Many reasons.
