  1. You seem to have the answers you need. Just a word to the wise. Is your wife Thai and will she be applying for a UK Standard Family Visit Visa. If so be aware that there is a very long wait to get a visa at the moment, due to increased travelling, The Ukraine crisis and low staff levels. They are qoting a minimum of 6 weeks and my wife who is a member of a Thai facebook group has heard about people waiting much longer.

Another smug abuser of the retirement system causing us legitimate retirees to have to deposit 800k for most of the year to get an extension instead of being able to spend our deposit.

It used to be 800k in the bank was to show you had 65k per month to spend on living expenses for the next 12 months and you could spend it, now it's pay an agent to fake you have enough to live on

You couldnt be further from the truth pal. Why should I put 800k in a Thai bank if I dont want too and dont need to. I am not abusing the system, I am using the system which is accepted by Thai immigration everywhere and I have an extension that is as good as one that you have. Its not FAKE, its genuine.

I could write pages on why I do it like this but I will let you wallow on trying to get by on the 65k a month you mentioned. I will just spend my time and money when and where I choose, which contrary to your assumption I have the money to live 2 lives both in and outside Thailand in both my properties which are bought and paid for unlike you in your rented room or flea pit where ever that may be.

  3. I do similar to you 7.5 months in Thailand and 4.5 months in the UK. I am lucky not to have to work in the UK, just see my family and friends. I too do not put any money in a Thai bank nor do I have any intention of doing so. I am based in the Jomtien immigration area and simply use an agent to get my genuine official extension of stay based on Retirement, based on my original O visa. Cost 12,900. The best option by a mile.

He not on a valid OA visa. All he has is a permit to stay from a OA visa that he has extended at immigration.

The insurance check is only for valid OA via when using it to enter the country. There is no rule that requires it to be done when entering with a re-entry permit for a extension of stay.

Ok fair comment, based on your superior knowledge on these matters I will not contest the point. It would be interesting to know what happens in reality not the rule.

Immigration will not ask for proof of insurance for a extension of a OA visa entry. It is only required when apply for the one year extension based upon retirement.

You will only need proof of $10,000 for corvid 19 coverage to get a Thailand Pass. You will only need 30 days of coverage.

I assume you have a re-entry to use when entering the country.

Hold on a minuite. The way I read the OP is that when he returns to Thailand his OA insurance will have finished? Thats why he is looking for 2 months insurance and then take out a new 12 month OA insurance when he renews his extension of stay? Correct me if I am wrong. When he arrives he will have no OA insurance so he will not be stamped in to the expiry date of his stamp, so all he will get is a 30 day visa exempt entry and his OA is cancelled.

    Thanks everyone

I came for 2 months here already got extensions for 60 days

Now I have to go back to UK to move here permanently and wrap things up

When I went for my initial 30 days extension because I live with a Thai i was told next time easier yiu get 90 days no problem

can i get a re-entry permit to return in 30 days

This current visa is ok until 10 July

Are you sure he didnt mean next time do your 90 days. ie 90 day report for staying in Thailand 90 days. As said there is no 90 day extension other than obtaining a non O and then an extension of stay on retirement or marriage.

Chonburi.    One hopes that after the "Boss's" visit just recently when he told them to be nice to foreigners and no more brown envelopes ,  that they will stop being so dictatorial !! It would not be the first time they have given wrong information.

You have been given the answer why do you have to ask the office. I also use Chonburi I have left the country and returned every year during the pandemic, I have obtained 2 retirement extensions and 2 re entry permit. It was not mentioned at all. Its not required, dont stress yourself out about it.

  8. Dont do it. Many people regret the OA option and change to O visa because of the continued insurance burden every year. O visa has no insurance associated with it, but you will need 800k in Thai bank or an income of 65k per month transferred into Thailand from abroad if you intended to apply for a 12 month extension of stay once in Thailand. There are qualifying periods for the money that I cant quote of hand at the moment.

If you dont mind the continued insurance of an OA then its a good option to get 2 years out of the visa. You get stamped in for 12 months every time you enter Thailand, assuming you have valid OA insurance. If you leave and re enter Thailand just before the visa expires you will still get a 12 month stamp, again insurance has to be valid. A re entry permit is required to keep the permission to stay stamp valid after the visa expires.

Do you really believe the nightlife is closed. Here in Pattaya its in full swing. Gogo's are operating near normal as are the bars. Granted closing time is supposed to be midnight but even now this is being pushed back later. Even topless dancing is back.

Not bad for a bunch of restaurants is it

Whilst i can't confirm this being as i'm not there myself, i hear Pattaya's nightlife (incl go-go bars) is thriving again.

Anybody know if this is correct?

You obviously missed my post, check it out @Ty Hareways

  10. Some exceptionally uninformed comments on here. San Miguel Light is A light and reduced-calorie lager with an exceptionally smooth and crispy taste. It is less filling and light on the stomach. It has a 5% alcohol content.

Singha Light has been rebranded its now with a lower alcohol content 3.5% and is now called MyBeer

I would say with some certainty it has never flooded....

Thats what I thought but I cant find anything that actually states that. A certain youtube Pattaya channel host insists he was held up last year due to the tunnel being flooded. I am challenging it.

  12. As a matter of interest, does anyone know for a fact if the existing underpass on the Sukumvidt has ever flooded since it became fully operational. I am of the opinion that it hasnt and has been a major success. There is talk of a new tunnel at Pattaya Tai to past the Threpasit road, this would be a major risk of flooding, but what about the current tunnel?
