wrong, some people doesn't want to deal with all the hassle and paper work, they do have the fund and bank book, they rather not deal with immigration, i had few bank account and one account specifically for immigration extension only, had 500k sit in this account for the last decade never touches them and use the same book over and over for extension

Yes that happens as well but its not the main reason which is lack of funds, which is by far the main reason.

Mine says "2.9" because it's for education and they didn't waive anything.

If you applied for an extension for retirement, there are two options, depending on if they wrote 2.22 or 5 next to the stamp:

2.22: The agent provided fake documents, stating that the money was in the bank account for 3 months.

5: The IO actually waived some requirement.

Just because this happens in Chaing Mai dont assume this is the same in Bangkok and Pattaya. My extensions the ones I have done myself and the 2 via an agent just have a signiture nothing else. A bank document even if has not been seasoned for 3 months etc is not fake. The head officer who signs these off knows the score as does everyone in the office. Its an accepted practice, its been going on for years, its not going to stop. Its an official legit extension and nothing in your self imposed moral stance can challenge it.

    Hi

May I ask if we can apply for a 10 year visa without pre booking flights?
The reason being with my elderly parents in the UK, we want to be able to travel at short notice in case of illness etc.

My Thai wife of 10 years has a travel history of 3 times to the UK and 7 times to the EU.
She's also had US and AUS visas before, and has never been refused a visa.
Providing documents of marriage, finance etc would not be a problem.

    Best regards
    JK.

Yes in fact they recommend not to book flights before the visa is approved. Personally I did because I saw a good deal and I was confident of getting the visa.

The visa agent takes the relevant copies for you, completes the forms for you (you just sign them), and if they can get certain documents that you require, they do this as well.

Then they meet you at the immigration office and let you skip the queue. All you have to do is let the IO take the picture and you are done, no talking required, you know your documents are in order.

That's what they do if you qualify for a legit extension, basically just saves you a bit of time, maybe between 1 hour and a few hours, depending on how long the queue at your immigration office usually is.

I think paying 10k+ THB for a few hours of saved time is not worth it, but this is of course my personal opinion, everybody is free to have another opinion.

If you don't qualify for a legit extension, they can maybe still facilitate one for you (for example money in bank requirement), this does of course cost quite a bit more.

What makes you think extensions obtain via an agent are not legit. The extension is signed and stamped by exactly thr same person in all circumstances. Its 100% legit.

  5. You need to check that the ticket you are buying is exactly the same and includes luggage etc. Online booking websites are safe and cheaper if all goes to plan. However if you need to change you ticket in any shape or form, this is when the problems begin. If you are 100% sure you will not need to change the booking then go ahead.

    Glad to hear that.

I have to go through the same process in a few weeks, can you tell me how you paid the fee, it's around 800 gbp for a 10 year visa now is it not?

We live in Chiang Mai and understand there is now a VHS office here so can deliver everything  there when she has her biometrics done.

Like you she has had a combo of visas, last one being 5 years but that has expired.

I can't remember  where I downloaded the application form from or is it all done online with attachments  now?

Many thanks  have a great trip

Hi there. Its all on this link

    https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor/apply-standard-visitor-visa

You have to create an account and fill in various personal details, pay for the application on line and then make an appointment to submit the bio metrics in person. I also paid about 250 baht for the passport to be returned via secure Thai Post. You have to upload the various documents to the site in various sections. It doesnt have to be uploaded all in one go, you can upload a new document up to 24 hours before the appointment. Its fairly straightforward. I uploaded about 20 documents including my UK property, pension, bank statements, sponsor letter, marriage certificate, my passport details, house, car, bike ownership, also my wife's bank details and a few other things.

    Good luck

  7. Just an update to my topic. My wife applied for the 10 year Standard Visit Visa on March 24th, using the normal service. She received the successful visa today April 13th via Thai Post EMS. This was a total of 10 working days in all. I would like to thank @Tony Mfor taking the time to respond to my questions. It looks like if you have a good solid case for a visa the turn around times are nothing like the 6 weeks as published.

Would you mind to ask if they have their services available in Phuket or can refer to anyone?

You can ask. I know he has a partner operating in the South. Contact details are Chris at Termite Tech 0822071959. Tell him Jim gave you his number.

Please give us more details in order for these comments to be helpful?

Whose the guy? What does he use? What are you referring to about the Thais using something more dangerous/smelly/often?

This is might be great info if you can simply unpack a bit further please!

By the way, today I had a guy from Rentokil visit and assess.... super interesting to discuss with him and see whats going on.

All I can tell you is I use a guy who uses safe chemicals which kill the bugs, its from Australia and he comes 3 to 4 times a year. A few houses in my community use the Thai method which is done monthly. It has a strong chemical odour and doesnt kill the termites just keeps them away, thats why its done monthly. No way do I want them spraying my house and garden monthly. As a general rule if its done monthly its not as good.

We pay 6000 pa for monthly bug spraying which also gets rid of cockroaches. City Hall seem to have stopped mosquito misting but we have families of gheckos and ever hungry fish to deal with them

Yes that horrible smelling stuff the Thais use and monthly as well. The guy I use I pay 8,000 and he comes 4 times a year. The treatment is oderfree is the best from Australia and beats the dangerous Thai treatment hands down. We also are totally ant free.

  11. You have termites mate. This is how mine started. I tried home tteatments and then went to the UK for 4 months. When I came back the house was infested. I had to replace all the kitchen cupboards. You need to get the house professionally treated. Most Thai companies are once a month. I live outside Pattaya and I use a Farang company much better 3 or 4 times a year. If you are in Pattaya I can put you in touch. Dont pay more than 8k a year.

Yeah understand entirely!  I have been doing my reports for almost 20 years.  Since 2015 I(or the year when embassy letter was stopped) I have gone to the monthly deposit method and after the first year when they kept asking for additional documentation, I began providing them with a book each year, including yearly letter from my retirement office stating what I get each month, etc, a copy of the deposit from that office into my stateside bank acct, a monthly report of deposit of said funds into my stateside acct, my wire transfer request for each month, my Thai bank monthly report of transfer of funds from overseas, the two yearly reports fm my Thai bank showing the 12 monthly reports as well as the acct being mine only, plus a copy of every page of my local bank book updated on the day I go to immigration. When I gave that "book" to the IO, he laughed and said "wow very many documents!"  I laughed too and requested he advise me if he needed more.  He just laughed and 20 minutes later I was out the door waiting for the next year.   I print all these on my printer so cost is minimal especially since there is no hassle from the IO.

He is posting about the 90 day report. Why are you referring to an extension of stay renewal. The 2 are completely different.

Yet certain conditions can become bacterial over time.  Only a true lab test can identify what it is but then here in Thailand you can walk in see a pharmacist explain what the issues are and out the door you go with the antibiotics......

Very true but the poster's daughter is in the early stages of Covid, so its pointless.

have similar problem, wife and daughter fully vaccinated with Pfizer and Moderna, asymptomatic, normal temperature, went shopping (over the week end) to Central Festival in Phuket, started to cough, running nose, they feel tired, decided to test (ATK saliva) and both show positive (1 real red stripe the 2nd stripe is light red barely visible) they are taking Amoxicillin and Paracetamol and staying at home, what to do next???

No point at all in taking Amoxacilin. Its an antibiotic, Covid is a virus.
